That is a warning sign that there are traffic cops with a speed trap in front. Batswana are generally nice people, they warn each other about speed traps to help one avoid losing money through a fine.😅😅😅
Once I drove thirty miles with everyone flashing at me looking out for an accident or speed trap and when I pulled into the driveway I realised I'd had high beam on the whole way home and just ruined everyones evening.
When we flew into Kings Pool Safari Camp In Botswana, 8 giraffes were on the little runway. The bush pilot did a little loop de loop and when we returned that had gone. Botswana is the best!!!!
I just found your channel this week and have been enjoying catching up on your travels - thank you for all the wonderful content. I’ve been finding most of my other travel content channels (which feature 20ish and 30ish year olds) are mostly settling down, buying a “fixer-upper” and turning into home reno content. They are all lovely people and I wish them well, but I have no interest in watching them tear down an old house. While my career doesn’t allow for extended travel, I really enjoy RUclips content to inspire my own travels…I’m off to Singapore and Bhutan in October, then Cape Town and Victoria Falls in March/April. Thanks again!
Lived in Gaborone during the Y2K time.... 1999. My daughter was also born there. Now living in Cape Town. Too bad you didn't go through Gaborone. The friendliest people ever.
Great episode. I am an Indian that grew up in Botswana funny enough. I once got asked if Botswana was a country at the Dubai airport... Lol .. truely underrated country. Very beautiful. Clean water, clean air. Low crimes despite being a neighbour to SA.
Marion and Chris, I can’t Thankyou enough for sharing your adventures around the world 😮 you are both amazing. You have taken me too places I will never get to see. ❤
After all of the kilometers we have ridden along with you in Trudy, watching this video is bittersweet knowing we won’t be riding along with you in Trudy through foreign countries anymore. You guys have opened my eyes to how kind and helpful people all over the world are. Thank you so much for sharing your travels with us. I enjoyed every minute.
Thank you for choosing Botswana as part of your travel adventures, and your love & friendliness for the local folks...for your next Botswana adventures, try the eastern part ..... Not only is it Loaded with elephants & giraffes, etc, but traditional Setswana cuisine & cultural activities. And you can easily cross into SA ( to Kruger National Park) via Bobonong village - Molalatau village - Mathathane village road. Plenty of guesthouses & resorts too along that route. Thank you for your beautiful documentaries around the world❤❤
What a journey!! I'm sure it will be wonderful to see family and friends but a bit of an anticlimax coming back to England. I reckon after a few months you'll be itching to be off again and we'll be itching to be off with you! It's been wonderful and a privilege to share your travels. Look forward to the next ones. Lots of love to you both xxxx
I am South African and was always curious about Botswana. Seriously stoked to see its exactly like SA! From the food to the birds to the roads! 😂 Thanks for the video! Safe travels.
We are all as sad as both of you that the journey is at its end.... it has been such a pleasure being part of your trip, you are an amazing couple, and have produced the most amazing channel. Idea for the next trip, drive from UK, to France, to Spain, across the Mediterranean from Gibraltar to Ceuta, then across Africa, Morrocco, West Africa, then down to Namibia, South Africa, and up to Egypt, across to Cyprus, then Turkey then back through Europe... that's a great trip! Whatever trip you do next, I can guarantee I'll be there with you!
Hi Marianne and Chris. Just loving your Southern African leg of your journey. As somebody who grew up in S.A. and living abroad now, Africa is always in your blood and will always be home. You driving through Pretoria was really exciting for me, and when you drove past the Rigel Ave turn off on the N1 highway my heart skipped a beat.....My old stomping ground.
@@hendrikdebruin4012Well, that’s one way of defining ‘home’ I guess. To me ‘home’ can also be defined as a place of memories, a place you feel comfortable and connected with.

I am a bit of a pain in the behind when it comes to words though... we all have our little foibles. Blessings and the best of luck.
Such a pity that you did not travel to the Okavzngo Delta and other stunning lodges and rivers in upper Botswana. The birds are Starlings - they get very tamed.
Hi Chris and Marianne, sorry for the road traffic incident. I have been following you for years, seeing Marianne all over different places, different countries, different continents; always driving well, skillful, responsible, focused. I don’t recall ever seeing Marianne putting Trudy in difficult, high risk, embarrassing situations. You are a very good driver. 👏👏👏
Don’t feel bad about being stopped for speeding. Everyone gets fined along the A33. The speed limit drops from 120 to 80 to 60 in the space of about 50m. Impossible to get your speed down in time for the next decrease. You have to go down to 60 as soon as you see the town coming up on the GPS. Pity you missed going to Elephant Sands roughly 55km north of Nata. As you sit eating dinner, the elephants come to the water hole just a few metres away. Amazing experience. Worth staying the night.
It's been a great pleasure, honor inspiration to share the adventure and tread the globe with you all these years miles, from when I first glimpsed Trudy parked on the street in Turkey on a friend's vlog as he passed by. Discovering the world and revisiting Malaysia, a former home away from home have been some of the most memorable and heartwarming highlights of these last challenging years, just as your special hearts have touched the hearts hundreds of thousands and will touch the hearts of millions for years to come. 🤗🤗
Awesome video as always Chris and Marianne. This has been such an epic journey. When I first started watching I thought the police stop was going to be like when y’all going stopped in Malaysia. Thanks for letting us ride along with y’all on y’all’s journey around the world.🌎
I think Fiat owes you a 4x4 Ducato Expedition for a future Africa adventure. Think of all the free advertisement they have gotten from wonderful, dependable, hardworking Trudy. Least they can do.
No. You Europeans cannot tell Africans that they cannot own cars because of global warming, but you are doing joy rides, and huge vans that pollute our environment, and overflying our pristine country sides, in planes that pollute our land and rivers. If Fiat should be giving them an award, let it be because of something they did in Europe, and the damage they caused with their self-serving and irresponsible joy riding in Africa.

Elephants on the runway. Often. As a child, in Africa,my parents flew us all over . We would have to do a low fly past before landing so the staff would chase the Elephants off the runway.
I would just like to say, how i have looked forward to my Sunday travels for years now with you two beautiful people going to places i didn’t even know existed. meeting amazing people with different nationalities eating their wonderful local foods. I had a similar incident in Kenya (1971), the first cop waved his hand, so I stopped, he told me that I must just drive slowly forward, the second cop also waved his hand, so i kept creeping slowly forward, then there was panic! Planks with large nails were slid under the car, so I stopped and the cop shouted that he had meant that I should stop, and put the barrel of his rifle to my temple, my co-driver had the same happen to him. They demanded that we explain ourselves, and when they found we were testing the Halda (a specialised odometer) for a rally, the mood changed and we were suddenly heroes!
Many of the small towns have speed traps on the edge of town . Must Always slowdown . The roads you have driven haven’t changed much with the exception of Zim where lack of money equates to lack of maintenance. Most visitors fly in and the trucks and locals use the roads. City driving is still good . We’re in Australia now and planning to do the big lap . Similar roads to south Africa. The New Zealand lap was brilliant. Safe travels mate

I have to say that your promo for Fiat as in Trudy should indeed be awarded by the manufacturer; nothing less than a new campervan should be your just reward; yay or nay anyone? To the charming couple we're living vicariously through you; your travels through SA made me homesick born in Durban now living abroad 🇨🇦
Aw, I love those guys from the Shell station! It is just wonderful how everyone is so friendly! I certainly would love to find the perfect partner to travel the world with when I retire! I would love to do what you are doing! Keep exploring!❤
The herds of elephants you see are usually all female with young. The young males form bachelor herds and the older males are often alone. We learned that in Botswana from out guides.
Not to think that I won't find any more video of you guys on Sunday. We miss you guys already. What an adventure and how much we enjoyed your trip. Positively jealous we are so we hope you are enjoying yourselves in the UK. Hopefully with new plans for the future with a new Trudie. Thank you so much for looking into your kitchen and your journey of discovery. All the best to you, and we hope to see you soon. Be proud of Trudie, she deserves a place of honor.
What on Earth am I going to do on my quiet Sunday mornings once you guys end your around the world adventure back in the UK soon? Been watching your videos every Sunday morning over breakfast without fail for what feels like years!
Really enjoy watching the videos, what you pair gonna do when you get back home? You won't be able to just stop now, I imagine you have plans for the next adventure, keep on doing. Shropshire is probably one of the best places to re-energize 🤘💯
The bright blue bird with the yellow eyes is the Cape Glossy Starling. They are common in Southern Africa. The lilac-breasted roller is also common in Africa and has eight feathers colors , the most of any bird on the planet. They are called rollers because of the behavior in mating season when the males put on aerial displays for the females. Birding in Botswana is fantastic. A guide there once told me that birders see the best game.
I am sad to see that your journey in SA is over. We loved every vlog and even though I live in SA, I have not ventured out so I was living the experience through your videos. I wish you everything of the best for your future endeavours. 🎉❤
Looks like you were so happy to be back in South Africa. The police stop appears to have shaken Marianne as it would many people. Chin up, you've driven across the world, a true inspiration to all women drivers. We can't wait for you to take us on your next adventure.
The Romans always knew that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line so Roman roads were always as straight as possible. South African road engineers just took the same view. We love straight lines.
What wait Chris driving, surprised he remembered how. 😊We just love it when you both smile. We know you must be busting to return back home and see family and friends, we would love to be there with you. We have enjoyed your adventure, almost dreading what we will do when there is no weekly update. We are in Queensland, Australia, just a bit far to celebrate with you in person at the gathering, I’m certain there will be many of the untold stories that will be shared, adding even more gold to your amazing journey. I can’t wait to hear about the next adventure. Thank you both sooooo much for sharing your world with us. Sensational THANK YOU

Great video. So enjoy watching each week. Look forward to any new adventures. I think the policeman was mean fining you especially when you explained what had happened and thought he might have been interested in your journey like so many others. 😊
It’s difficult at the end of any holiday but the last two days of a four year trip must be so hard - full of mixed feelings for you! But good to hear you have future travel plans! Keep trucking guys! 🚌🚌🚌🚌
Thank you for taking me to places I've never been. I do believe you have sparked the desire in many you met along this journey, to become nomads or at least van lifers 😆 The enthusiasm on the faces of those at the petrol station were priceless
I remember questioning your route not including Cape Town etc, but on reflection, the route you have chosen is a good mix of proper Southern, rather than SOUTH Africa. Its probably easier to fly back to Cape Town and hire a van, for a few weeks, and enjoy what the "Deep South" has to offer.
Hello. For anyone planning on driving in Botswana, the protocol is for the driver to approach the police vehicle. It can get confusing but that’s how it is across the country.
from Langebaan, on the West Coast of the Western Cape, about an hour from cape Town... been following your African Trip - u guys are so POSITIVE and wonderful - was awesome to follow
People in "poorer" countries always have big smiles on them - perhaps they do not have to worry about materialistic possessions or how to save etc. - whether it is Botswana, Zimbabwe, rural India or countryside even in developed countries they greet you with smiles and are very polite
When I was a child we would say FIAT is an acronym for 'First in all trouble"; however Trudy has finally proven me wrong. Enjoy following your travels.

The big nests are sociable Weavers or I guess one could say they are urbanised. They build onto the nests each year during breeding Season.
Don’t worry, they have nomadic DNA. Won’t be long until they are somewhere else, taking us along!
What an epic trip , thanks for all the footage.
Really enjoy watching the videos, what you pair gonna do when you get back home? You won't be able to just stop now, I imagine you have plans for the next adventure, keep on doing. Shropshire is probably one of the best places to re-energize 🤘💯
That's the plan🌺 Reconnect, re-energise and then we will be coming up with some new plans and trips ......
This has been a truly amazing trip. Bravo!
I am sad to see that your journey in SA is over. We loved every vlog and even though I live in SA, I have not ventured out so I was living the experience through your videos. I wish you everything of the best for your future endeavours. 🎉❤
Thank you so much ... we will be back as we have a plan to see so much more !!
R14 ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 You stingy..
@@lashame1 😂😂😂
I honestly want to live my life seeing the world..God from my heart to your ears please 🥺
In all these videos, this is the first time I remember seeing Chris drive.
Sensational THANK YOU
What a beautiful place Botswana is. I can sense your sadness and it makes me sad too, but hey there’s always the next adventure to look forward too, take care both and enjoy these last days. Cheers
My fave Sunday adventure ! Tread The Globe ❤… I’m SA , and enjoying Africa via your travels , absolutely WOW ! God bless
Another awesome video Marianne and Chris! Thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey over the last few years and you’re always welcome to join my family in our woods for a bit of R&R in the Cotswolds 😊❤
37:53 in my mind, that welcome made up for earlier. What a nice group
Africa does creep into your heart.
I grew up 13 kilometers from Heidleberg in a town called Nigel. So nice to see the old sites again.
Welcome to Botswana a country with a rich culture nice people a warm climate full of endless adventures 🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼🇧🇼

Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us and also for making people aware of the beauty of Africa.
So nice to see you behind the wheel Chris, makes a nice change.
My Sundays are always sorted
Very sad, sad end of the road trips. I really miss all your wonderful videos
Glad you like them! And we will not stop travelling, but we will have a break to reconnect with family and regroup !! 🙌
I was so surprised to see Chris driving. I thought he couldn't 😂😊
You folks never mention the southern night sky . I always wanted to see the night skies in the southern hemisphere. Must be awesome 👍
I seriously don't want this series to end ...but I can't wait for the next one .....too funny egg and mayonnaise....we call that egg salad in the good ole USA.....love you guys big bunches 💕
Wow , a first , seeing Chris driving , my 100 % fave you tubers 🎉 Chris and Marianne ❤❤🎉
Born and still in south Africa 70 now it's so sad but s Africa was never but now is so crime riddled please be safe ❤️
Loving this, i would like to see if i can do it the other way round, from Zim to Uk and how the authorities, media and locals would react to my adventures
I can imagine the conflicting emotions on your last few days. I’m sure recovery is quick getting home to loved ones. 😊
Very friendly tourists
Love that
Keep it up
Botswana 🇧🇼 ❤ u
Weird to see Chris in the driverseat. It's sad to know that the journey is almost over. It was a joy to watch!
Fix it again Tony.
😂
Once again you gave us a fabulous video. And it is a little sad that your travels for this time are coming to an end. I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos from the beginning and look forward to more of your escapades to come. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved your videos and have watched them like many others from the start. Sunday evenings are going to be strange without joining you on your adventures. Cant wait until you are off on your travels again. Time for a bit of R&R for Trudy and yourselves. Enjoy being home and back with your family but dont leave it too long until your next adventure. Yoy are so lucky to have been able to do this epic journey and we are lucky to have been able to join you!!!
I feel like I've travelled the world with you and it's been such fun so thank you Marianneand Chris. I look forward each week to a new video, Africa has been particularly fascinating, so sad its nearly over. I do hope you go on some more travels soon. But again thank you for 4 years of entertainment ❤ x
Epic epic epic ,we loved hosting you in southern africa...
Was the africa you saw similar to the africa shown on BBC?
Congratulations to you both. What an amazing journey around the world.
i realy like the part where Marianne said "i never gonna listen to you" by the way i'm so excited to be watching vedio as a Motswana right here. we really appreciate and welcome everyone out there
I enjoyed the tour.
