Anyone who says Barney is the funny one and Andy is only serious should remember how much Andy tormented Barney like this. Both are hilarious in different ways which makes the dynamic work so well
Me too :) It's ironic he never spoke on the show, because IIRC Clint Howard did quite a bit of voice acting in cartoons, including the little elephant in The Jungle Book.
This one is just too hilarious!! "No more carefree hours! No more doing what you want to when you want to! No more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!" And the way Andy teased him when he accidentally locks himself in that cell was hilarious too!!!
I really love watching the Andy Griffith show when barney talks to all of the boys about no more peanut butter & jelly sandwiches & barney locks himself up in jail & Andy says. O.K boys. you can go now.
Every time I think I've rewatched my favorite Barney episode, one more favorite shows up! I loved these when they first ran in the '60's and I still do!
Don and Andy both appeared in the movie No Time For Sergeants. IIRC it was Don who suggested the need for a deputy. I think that Andy was originally supposed to be the comedian, but after watching his supporting cast in action, he thought that the show would work better with him in the "straight man" role.
Funniest scene in this episode and Don Knotts and Andy Griffith. Two of the greatest talents of all time and great chemistry between them. Priceless and this episode is called in Season 3 One Punch Opie.
Clint Howard stole so many scenes without uttering a wort. Young Ron Howard and Clint going over a script: Ron: I gotta learn and rehearse these lines! Clint: Just smiles.
I just realized that Leon is Clint Howard, Ron Howard's little brother. He's been in a lot of other roles since, such as Johnny Bark on Arrested Development, but I haven't seen him offer anyone a half-eaten sandwich in those roles.
There's an episode where Barney tries to spy on a new doctor in town. At the time, Andy was dating the pharmacist and he was a bit jealous. Turns out this doctor said Barney was anemic and put him out a bunch of iron pills and what not. That's what happens when you don't get inarculated!
Actually watching these old clips reminds me of how lucky I am having grown up in a somewhat similar environment in rural Kansas, minus the Andy and Barny characters. We had the Catholic parish school system preaching to us with little avail, but boy scouts was a fun memory.
Does anybody recognize the little boy to Opie’s left....the kid in the plaid shirt with the white hat....on this program, he was Opie’s buddy, Johnny Paul....but just a few years earlier he became famous on another CBS sitcom which became arguably the greatest program in television history.....
"No more carefree hours. No more doing what you want. No more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." Funniest show ever!!
Right! What my wife says when she puts me in handcuffs!
No more PB&J sandwiches would be sheer torture.
It’s a classic
Wise kid asks..."why can't you have peanut butter in prison?"
“Get the key.”
Don Knots was an exceptional talent. He won Emmy awards for playing this part and he sure deserved it!
He was on the show for five years and won Emmys all five years!
@@michaelwainscott2633
Not quite. He won 3 Emmy during his 5 years. He won 2 Emmys for guest appearances after 1965.
Don had a very cute personality!
@@jameswilliamjohnson Surely he won an emmy for Mr. Furley
Don was the finest comedic actor ever.
Leon was absolutely adorable. Strange how you never see his parents. He's always toddling around on his own.
His parents were often on the set to monitor both of their boys!!!
Back then kids could roam
His parents were probably busy making more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
His Mayberry family. His. REAL family is Rance Howard( his father).Ron Howard( his brother).
Clint Howard - so cute!
Barney invents the scared straight program. 😆
Mlm
Lmaoo
Yeah!
Lol.🤣😂🤪
He scared himself straight.
These shows never get old. They are ALL CLASSICS
There are no funnier moments in TV history than when Barney Fife goes on his self-inflated diatribes
He's imparting his wisdom.
Myself and a fellow fireman would laugh about how Barney would put his hand up and say “please Andy”. lol
“Yea and we don’t even know what it means!” 😂
Dang, TV used to be good and wholesome ...
And STILL funny!!
Whenever Barney tries to make something absolutely clear, he wanders into a bear trap. lol
I'm 61 and still love watching andy n barney
I always loved it when Barney got locked in the jail. Such a great show..

Andy to Barney :”No more carefree days.No more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.” Classic comedy.
Anyone who says Barney is the funny one and Andy is only serious should remember how much Andy tormented Barney like this. Both are hilarious in different ways which makes the dynamic work so well
Get the key.
Do you know your comment links to a website touting "no cost dating sites?" Might want to watch those spaces between sentences a bit more carefully.
Normally, when Leon offers a bit of his sandwich, the response is "No thanks, Leon".
Love Leon, especially whenever he offered Barney a bite of his PP&J. I also loved how Barney spoke to the cute, mute 3-year-old like he was an adult.
Leon is actually the younger brother of Ron Howard who plays Opie
Me too :) It's ironic he never spoke on the show, because IIRC Clint Howard did quite a bit of voice acting in cartoons, including the little elephant in The Jungle Book.
This one is just too hilarious!! "No more carefree hours! No more doing what you want to when you want to! No more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!" And the way Andy teased him when he accidentally locks himself in that cell was hilarious too!!!

I am from Morgantown WV, home of the Great Don Knotts. So honored for that. Thanks Barn.
the Actor who plays Leon is Ron Howard's younger brother Clint Howard.
Matlock
Gentle Ben
And a flight controller in Apollo 13.
Also in the unforgettable role of Balok in "The Corbomite Maneuver" ... Star Trek OG
Clint went on to star in his own series, "Gentle Ben," in 1967, a story of a boy and his bear.
Leon is precious! Every time I see him and his sandwich, I get hungry for a PBJ.
And the answer to his offer is always, "no thank you Leon". lol
Also Ron Howard’s real life little brother
always liked when Barney got locked in the jail cell and his fast draw
a name they kind of tagged me with,......, fast-gun Fife. .....
Fast draw....I recall him saying in one episode they needed a high speed camera to capture it; otherwise it was just a blur. So funny.
Otis can always get out, and Ernest T. always could, but the two people running the jail could not.

Scared straight with Barney. No Peaches... LOL !
I really love watching the Andy Griffith show when barney talks to all of the boys about no more peanut butter & jelly sandwiches & barney locks himself up in jail & Andy says. O.K boys. you can go now.
Classic scene. Best TV series ever. Barney was really something!
That's where Trump started his stealing at or before
Dang it barny you need to stay in jail for attempted murder because I'm dying laughing
Every time I think I've rewatched my favorite Barney episode, one more favorite shows up! I loved these when they first ran in the '60's and I still do!
I love how his cowboy hat is three times bigger than his head!🤣😄😃
And wearing his guns!! Very wholesome show.
Good 'Ol Leon! Always, always made me 😅🤣 with even saying a word!
Andy was the genius who spun off the show into a Don knotts and Andy Griffith comedy. Originally it was planned as just a sheriff comedy show
Don and Andy both appeared in the movie No Time For Sergeants. IIRC it was Don who suggested the need for a deputy. I think that Andy was originally supposed to be the comedian, but after watching his supporting cast in action, he thought that the show would work better with him in the "straight man" role.
Getting "inarkulated" has consequences .
Covid
Just about the best episode ever- tho they were ALL GREAT. Gotta love Barney.
Well, Barney didn’t say which door to close. He just told Leon to close the door and that’s exactly what Leon did.
4:24
I've been watching this for over 50 years and still never get tired of it. 😅
It is no fun when that Iron Door slams shut!! Ang and Barney!!! This is great!!
Welp, got yourself a little incarcerated, didn't'cha? Key!!
No, the dr. didn't give me a shot.

I would say Leon is a comedic genius
Opie's little brother is soooooo DARN CUTE!!!
Hard to believe that he is the bald guy at the monitors in Apollo 13.
WAS!!!!!!!
@@tonyginnetti5828 you funny..LOL
He was definitely cute when he was young!
@@dj3114 He was also in The Waterboy
This scenario would effect Leon more than anyone else, he couldn't live without his PP&J sandwiches.
Andy: Oh he can't have that Leon. No more carefree hours. No more peanut butter & jelly. Right Barn? 😆
The Andy Griffith Show is one of my favorite old shows, it's just a nice funny show, same as My Three Sons very wholesome and funny.
In memory of my grandpa. He loved this show. ♥️♾️
One of the best things about this program was the array of major and minor supporting characters. Case in point: Leon.
He was such an adorable kid but morphed into the creepiest looking guy. Pretty funny.
Looked up his picture a bit creepy looking!
You all do realize that Leon is played by Clint Howard, Ron Howard's younger brother, right?
no
OF COURSE, KNOWN IT FOR YEARS, BRUH!
Barney gave the best motivation speeches.
Get You a wig and a dress! Your another Emmy Smultz! 🤣
Funniest scene in this episode and Don Knotts and Andy Griffith. Two of the greatest talents of all time and great chemistry between them. Priceless and this episode is called in Season 3 One Punch Opie.
Always loved when Barney get's locked up.
Right! That little cowboy got him good!

"Gene? From my chair here this is the last option."----Leon at Houston Mission Control 30 years later
Please bring back wholesome TV shows
I can't believe that Leon is Ronnie Howard's brother.
Y not?
Thays Clint
Grew up for sure - he was the bald guy on the instrument panel in Apollo 13.
One of the best shows ever on TV
Clint Howard stole so many scenes without uttering a wort.
Young Ron Howard and Clint going over a script:
Ron: I gotta learn and rehearse these lines!

"Inarculated"...love it! 🙂

tf2whackyengineer
And in Apollo 13
ahahahahahha weve all got friends like barney
When i got put in jail I thought back about this episode. Barney was right, no more peanut butter and jelly sandwich
Don't you know andy Griffith had a tough time playing straight man to Don knotts😂
No that’s inarculated 😂🤣
larry Mondello looks like he just came from beavers house
This show and the Beverly Hillbillies, Rules ! Until they went to color tv 📺

"Ain't that right, Barney?" LOL
"It definitely is no fun when that iron door slams shut on you" and remember "No more carefree hours and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches"
A beat up cowboy hat, a trusty cap gun six shooter, one of Mom's PB&J sammiches and not a care in the world...
this guy was also in workaholics lol
I am 63 could watch all day
Leon's(Clint Howard) silent acting is by far the best. Comedy without vocalizing.
Barney was the funniest character in TV history.
Leon (Clint Howard) was Ron Howard's (Opie) real life brother, just in case some did not know that. You can tell they resemble each other.
Carefree hours are the first casualty of a life of crime.
Leon at the end was so fricken cute!
I love the way Leon just SLAMS that door shut!

There's an episode where Barney tries to spy on a new doctor in town. At the time, Andy was dating the pharmacist and he was a bit jealous. Turns out this doctor said Barney was anemic and put him out a bunch of iron pills and what not. That's what happens when you don't get inarculated!
Leon was a bad dude. His only weakness was peanut butter and jelly.
Mayberry's Scared Straight Program.
No more PBJ sandwiches. Plot twist: Aunt Bee brings picnic lunches to the jail's "guests".
No peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but you get Aunt b's cooking
Love Barnes eyes 😅
Best sitcom ever ❤
"AHYAIGHT! MAKE ME A SANDWICH!"
🥖🥬🍅🧀🥓 🍟🥤
Here’s your Cheese BLT Sub Sandwich & your French Fries with Soda
Andy Griffith show and the twilightzone best shows ever they never get old it would be cool if they colorized them
Yes I agree
Barney’s debt to society wasn’t much, just a minute in the slammer. lol
I do believe this is the birthplace of the Scared Straight programs.
This is where a convicted person are inoculated.
Poor Barney 😅 Andy having to much fun trolling him.
Emmy schmaltz ?
Looked it up. Moon Mullins character !!
Bhahahaha ☺️
Emmy Schmaltz was a character in the Moon Mullins comic strip.
Dear god even as a 9 year old i love this show :3
Well Leon did what Barney ask him too I just love the Leon Character So Cute🥰
Ronny H.’s kid bro was just adorable here
I watched This episode on MeTV Today!
I just love how Barney seemed to wish he was Joe Friday.
Actually watching these old clips reminds me of how lucky I am having grown up in a somewhat similar environment in rural Kansas, minus the Andy and Barny characters. We had the Catholic parish school system preaching to us with little avail, but boy scouts was a fun memory.
Little " Leon" IS Opie's REAL life brother!!!!No fooling👍✋️
Miss u barney
😂😂hilarious!! Don knotts was brilliant!!!
I wish I could have grown up in Mayberry 🤔🤔🤭😁
That Barney and his advice for children…. Giraffes are selfish. What wisdom. What panache. What a role model. You can make up what never existed.
Leon is 67 today, Happy Birthday 🎉😂❤️💯
He is 64 now.
God bless 💜
Does anybody recognize the little boy to Opie’s left....the kid in the plaid shirt with the white hat....on this program, he was Opie’s buddy, Johnny Paul....but just a few years earlier he became famous on another CBS sitcom which became arguably the greatest program in television history.....
Hint: he played Little Ricky :)
Little ricky?
Will, do you have a family member named named Sam?
Funniest characters on the AG show in this order...1.Barney Fife.....2. Floyd the barber and......3.Little Leon with his PB&J sandwiches.
