That quick release side plate Is why I didn't buy the tranx, I went for the prorex 400. I see a few posts how those accidentally come loose, especially since I'm lefty and palm with my left, I'm afraid it would come loose. Seems like it does quite a bit. The pro rex has almost twice the drag at 30 lbs, has a better eva foam power handle, has the magnetic and centrifugal brakes and also has the t-wing level wind. I do like the tranx but all those features on the prorex are just the tipping point why I got the daiwa. Plus the daiwa prorex looks awesome with this t-rex eyeball logo and purple spool and spool control knob highlights
Bought the 300HG today after lots of inner debate with the Lexa 300 as an option but the Tranx profile fit my hand better and the Tranx is soo silky smooth that I couldn’t resist. In spinning reels I’m not the biggest Shimano guy, in conventional I’m almost exclusively Avet but this darned reel was too nice to pass on! I don’t mind the Tranx not having external brake control either. The Lexa is a great reel, I’ve fished both and both are great little tools.
That is precisely how I've come to settle on the entire big low pro market as a whole. Tranx is just a pleasure to fish. The others are all very very good compared to say round abu style designs (insert name here). But that abu style done right can throw bigger distances (I have an omoto will power full spec monomag zzeta) and had a hot rodded avet... I have the new concept c3 to now compare to all the other large low pros. And am finding that to be a strong reel as well. And those silly czbs are much more precise than the standard z3.. (but my first reel was a doa defect) I like how indestructible avets are inshore provided you don't go to high on the drag and side load crunch bearings. I static nagged and put a tbar on my sx and it looked like a baby trex. But after not being able to stop a bass (was chunking with Scott from lex lures lmao). I sold it off and moved on.
Maaaan!! You NEEEED to start poating new videos!!! You got the best fishing channel in here PERIOD X 10000!! PLEASE I'LL EVEN PAY FOR IT!! PLEEEEEES mole lice, obi san Kenobi!! My Curado 201M needs you fingering it and so does my Tatula 300!!!
coming back soon...just gotta finish up all the trade shows....RISSA then EDISON new jersey. Just got back from the boston boat show and atlantic city boat show where I had the largest booth in the building!
Great video. The sideplate on my Abu MGXtreme took a dive off the boat yesterday while casting. It flunked the swim test. Now I'm tethering everything, or at least taping.
Damn...that sucks...Good luck and Godspeed getting in touch with their customer service..I hear it's a black hole lately. If you do they may send ya a replacement. But the most I've gotten from them was a spool pin..lol
Thanks. I spoke to a very nice young lady yesterday who suggested I send in the reel as opposed to waiting for the part to be available (November?) so I just did that.
The good folks at Spirit Lake, Iowa just sent me a complete in box brand new reel, plus returned my spool with line. Shows no charge due - now that is great service. My TranX 400 is tethered as per your tutorial, Thank You for the tip.
This might be a dumb question but how do you set the brakes on the tranx 400. Do you pull the white pegs up or down to set the brakes ? I’m a bit confused. Total different from the SLX and metanium B that I have. Thank you advance.
wished i would have noticed this video before , i just flung my metanium mgl sideplate in the lake after not latching it correctly. 110 dollar lesson ordering another at shimano.
Is there a way to convert the Tranx to a flipping type switch? Or perhaps to allow the engage by pushing up with your thumb? I love my Accurist for fluke but have a tranx 300 and would like that option
I use metanium reels since 2013 , I dont know why american people are so afraid to loose the plate... I think it is almost impossible to lose.. IDK but maybe it is because in italy we use left handle 👀
This reel is a POS. Ive had it for three weeks and the side piece fell off while I was reeling it in and I was very lucky that it didn't fall into the water. Now I can't get the side piece back on. A complete POS and not cheap.
The most important part of this mod is to make sure you use that dull knife 🔪 😎

I did the mod in this video. Thanks for the advice.

Excellent tip. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going to do this to all of my 400 dollars shimano casting reels, I'm always on the boat, I could lose a side plate on the water

Yup... Clicked in.. Is off. Clicked out they're on.
@@TackleAdvisors thank you sir.
Do you know if the 400 would throw like sp minnows and things in the 3/4 to 1.5 class of lures

I lost a side plate bearing in a concept z3 when I was a 2 mile wade from my car.... Doh
I'm going to do that with my Metanuim DC 😎

rst time experimenting at palming my tranx 400 the plate fell off and into lake.
Smart guy. Thanks dude
Thx for the info...nice and simple solution.
Was a bearing upgrade done to this reel?
No. Shimano bearings are very good quality...I generally don't upgrade them any longer. I upgraded my old tranx 500...not worth the cost.

Man that sideplate doesn't look very well thought out. Seems like you could go to set the hook and knock it off fairly easily??
That's a non issue... Never once heard an issue regarding that...
Nice!
What kind of braid is that sir?
Hi Pj.
50lb Berkley Fireline tracer braid (from about 10 years ago) 205 yards fit on the spool. They make it under a different name now.
The braid i used for the tether/ leash is 40lb power pro super slick
Tranx is good mechanisms but ill go turn to diawa lexa wnn because of the easy adjustment break system 😉 if tranx same break system ill go tranx 😆
I loved the lexa wnn but they are prone to stripping gears . Happened twice to me so I bought a tranx lol
@@tylerrosborough9566 is the tranx sideplate hard to pop off? It looks like you could go to set hook and bump it right off.
@@thomasharp3246 I've heard of people having that issue but I haven't yet and I'm far from gentle with it
No brakes, eh?
that riddler always naysaying lol
Always! lol
Dam how did SHIMANO miss that simple mistake, i have had mind off yet
Olay!

😂 cool story bruh 🤡
Your noobness is not Shimanos problem!
Too much of a hassle. Would have bought today. Deal breaker for me. Buying the Lexa-HD 400 instead.
A 60 second fix is better than having to worry about the lexa's bail during you're cast.
@@mikeadamski6061 bail? On a Lexa 400?
@@I_am_archie I'm sure he meant the clutch button which is the lexa wnns Achilles heel. I haven't heard about that issue on the hd as much
