At the end of this video you said "thanks for riding along." I would like to say thanks for bringing us along, and thanks for your service to our country.
Mike, I am sure enjoying your videos especially after today! After you departed TYQ and was ascending thru ZID airspace you came in contact with a young lady controller on freq 133.05. My heart jumped as that young lady happens to be my daughter whom I never heard on the radio except on one of her training recordings. It gave me goosebumps! I verified the freq with her as the one she works and she said she recognized your Premier's call-sign. Thank you for all the videos that you have posted!
I'm an 82 year old instrument rated private pilot. Can't fly anymore. Your videos are helping my memory by remembering the ATC instructions. Great flying with you on your videos. Thank you
You make it look so easy. Obviously it’s not. It’s a testament to your experience and truly a professional pilot. I don’t think I am exaggerating when I say you have some of the best videos out there.
"We're only 50 minutes behind schedule" made me laugh a bit and brought up a sort-of (not quite) related memory. When I was in the US Navy, I debated taking a MAC flight as close to back home as I could and then a MAC flight back to Quantico (yes, I was on a Marine base). A US Navy Captain in one of the nearby offices overheard my conversation and came to my cubicle to advise me to take a MAC home, but come back to duty on a commercial flight as MAC flights weren't quite like commercial airliners. He asked me if I knew what MAC stood for. I replied, Military Airlift Command. He said, "Nope. Maybe Airplane Come."
Excellent video. ZDC Controller here again. I've been a controller since 1984. Phraseology is the one thing I harp on when instructing. I also work a lot with Safety Risk Management. At 28:25 into the video an excellent point is made. As I tell so many controllers and pilots. The 8 most dangerous numbers in ATC are : 250/260/270/280/290/300/310/320. Why you ask? Because all of those numbers are commonly used for Speeds, Headings, and Altitudes. I remember a day near Washington, DC when an AIr France B777-200 was given 300 knots for departure spacing. He read back, "Three Zero Zero, Roger, AFR029." The controller moved on as he was busy. As The B777 left FL230 (their assigned altitude) the TCAS went off with a F900 at FL240 going to KTEB. Long story short, We all need to use the words, "Knots, or Flight Level, or Heading" especially with those 8 dangerous numbers.
Agree Brian. Airline pilot with 16,000 + hours here. In Australia, we are quite strict with our ATC phraseology for exactly the reasons you cite. I notice many US airlines in Australian airspace not using "Flight Level 280" and instead using "280" and I wonder if they understand the implications of lax RT technique.
Hello Clay, I can only comment in relation to the Australian scene. First, if you can pass the entry requirements, and pass the flying course, I can not recommend highly enough military flying training. I joined the RAAF and the training was first class. No question. This leads to significant experience on anything from the F18 SuperHornet, F35 (soon), Hawk trainer, B737 AWACS, A330 Tanker, P8 (B737) maritime patrol, C130 Hercules VIP fleet etc etc. This stands you in excellent stead for a position with the airlines after you complete your obligation. Second, if you want the civilian route, you need to get your initial commercial training and then gain some twin time through General Aviation operations. After 500-1500 hours then you are in a good position for an entry airline position. The vocation you are embarking on is difficult, but incredibly rewarding. Make no mistake. Be diligent, conscientious, thorough, tenacious and honest and you will succeed. Best of luck young man.
Wow what an excellent insight. I am only a simmer now, but I have every intention of making flying a career. To that end I pick up any and everything I can that is so useful it sticks. Things that even pilots with lots of hours sometimes neglect. Things like if you a re VFR stay 90% eyes outside...and things like what you said above. Now in all my simming and training I will remember to include Knots, Flight Level, or Heading when reading back. Thanks!
Thanks Greg for showing us your dog. They do give us a lot of love. At first I was not a fan of dog but my rescue dog chage me that perception towards them. It's incredible how weather change.
At 1:04:42, you are over the Estuaries, between Fort Myers Beach and the mainland...the road you see dead ending is Winkler Road...I live about 3 miles north just west off that road...I used to take my 4 wheel drive jeep all over that land until the state took it over....the big development just to the left (west) is Lexington, my buddy developed that....you will soon be flying over Mullock Creek Marina, which is a cool back water fishing camp built in 1929....love these videos!!!!
Exactly what I love in a aviation video.. Well executed flight by a well trained pilot who explains what is going on! Add in the WHOLE departure/arrival with ATC (all of it) and I thank you! 👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏 Take care, Bill
Love when your flight path takes you by Tampa - (Used to live in Riverview - can't quite see my house!) Thanks for uploading another one, Greg! Always enjoy!!
Even though I watch your channel quite often as a subscriber and noted that you served in the U S Air Force. I see I failed in one critical area. I have been retired 27 years this year from the US Navy as a retired Navy Aviation Logistics Officer and wanted to thank you for your service to our country. I made many pilot friends in the Navy and miss the camaraderie very much. Have a great day and God speed.
Three things: first, watching you fly Greg is really one of those moments in which the very subtle but clear distinction between hobbyists and professionals is plainly visible. Steveo's channel is another example. As good as many of the amateur pilots are, there is a clear difference. Second, the documentation style of your videos which is largely unbroken and generally all inclusive are a rich text showing and thus teaching, your explanations are concise and exact. I wonder if you'd enjoy teaching. Third, for dog barking: of course a bark collar or a simple can or bottle filled with a handful of pennies that you shake when the dog barks. It works.
John Howard 49yrs from Kentucky - I manage a sleep lab and have always dreamed of being a pilot since the movie top gun but instead of the air guard I spent 7 yrs in the Kentucky National Guard.Your video's are a great entertainment for myself to relax throughout the night as a sleep aid and would recommend the same for my patients as apposed to ambien if electronics didn't effect my sensitive equipment. Stay safe and keep on producing these great video's.
Glad we could provide the Florida thunderstorms for your flying enjoyment. Next trip south we'll be happy to get you some seat time on the floats. Fishing tackle provided. :) Also, nice shot of Gasparilla Island and Boca Grande Pass, the "Tarpon Fishing Capital of the World."
Thanks for sharing, Looks like an awesome aircraft. My three hour flights consist of heading out of oshkosh going just out of Wisconsin with two or three airports to touch and go and RTB. You're crossing the US in that time.
Always a pleasure, doesn't get any better, every thing so cool riding in the cockpit of jet plane, like the explanations, was thinking how when you were consinstrating on flight controls your mind blocked out that irratant (dog barking) it was a rush when you turned the corner and punched it
Was stationed at Griffiss AFB in the mid 1980s. Used to watch the F-106s (49th FIS) perform their simulated flame-out approaches. Impressive from the ground.
Entire Gulf coast had spotty but mildly strong thunderstorms all week. Rather weird for us, we normally get big fronts and not so much of the chaffy stuff. Oh well, at least in ain't 100 degrees.
Gotta love little yappie dogs. They bark at everything and anything. They do not even know what they are barking at. As a yappie dog owner myself, I feel your pain Greg.
Thanks for the help with the radio calls. I noticed while watching a flight flog from a twin prop in Florida that there is a lot more conversation at those lower altitudes, between traffic and pilot, where thunderstorms are building.
One of the best vids Greg. Camera work keeps getting better. Jumping around really keeps your interest on longer flights. Also showing out front and you in the cockpit on landing is great. Poor dog can't clear his ears may have been the barking issue.
Thank you for your service, I am so glad you are on our side...I would love to ride along even though I know that is not possible. My health has deteriorated so i'm more of a pain but I love watching your flights. Keep up the good work. Thank you for the videos.
Laying down another solid trip along with P2d and mascot. Do not down play your role in informative flight training. I have flight training on a 172 and a Challenger. What you do everyday whether in your Premier jet or F16. You are a methodical pilot and I would feel safe and proud to fly with yourself. All the best TOP GUN.
Just found your RUclips about a week ago, and have been binge watching it since then...my dog even set and watched when he heard your dog bark!!! This must be a family show!!! I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones about KRSW because back in the 70's, we used to have keg parties on the land they built that airport on. I live in Fort Myers, so if you ever get in town, send me a message and I will take you out to dinner. I love all your videos, so please keep up the good work!!! Cheers my friend....
Fun video, thanks for taking us with you. I accompanied my brother on his CPL 300 flight, on the 15th of july, bonus was i got to fly the 340nm return to base, hand flew the last half of the trip. was a lot of fun
Great video as always. Avid watcher from Columbus, OH. N100QS is a NetJets Global 5000. Anytime you here "ExecJet" or a tail ending in "QS" it's a NetJets plane. Keep up the great videos!
The tail number of the larger jet you parked next too was N100QS. It is a Bombardier BS-700-1A11 and is registered to NETJETS SALES INC. MFR Year is 2012. It looks like it had multiple owners names on the registry.
Unsurprising that it's a charter jet or owned by a management company. Takes 2 pilots to fly, and you still can't hit its max range without them busting their 10-hour duty day. Not the kinda thing that is owner-operator flown. I doubt an entire year's worth of my disposable income could cover one hour of operating cost on that thing.
Hmmm - putting the course in Foreflight - PIE is NORTH of MURDO....but your FMS shows it AFTER MURDO... ANYWAY - Thanks again ! Ordered my T-Shirt today...
Shuddered a bit when I saw one of those evil wicked roundabouts on your climbout. Lived in Fishers for a little over a year, and coming from a small town in Kentucky that was one of the biggest culture shocks... that and 465 construction haha. great video as always, nice to see some of the places in Indy again.
As ever, great videography. I like "riding along" primarily to listen to how you communicate with the various stations and to see how you handle normal in flight procedures. It seems like your dog gets fired up when climbing and descending but is just fine in cruise mode. I'm guessing your dog is letting you know it doesn't like the changes in cabin pressure. It could be that your dog needs to log more flight hours (just sayin') :) It probably likes it better in Florida than Indy, too.
Yep, SFO sounds pretty fun. Hmm. Was reading about $17 M damage to a F thirty five, due in part from tailwind on engine start. Thanks for your service, and for sharing the cool videos.
So awesome... Wish I had access to learn this stuff! So jealous how quickly you can get to FL from Indy, much more tolerable than the 11-hour drive with the family lol. My 8-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter are fascinated with this video.
you make it look easy. I am still in a T-41A Mescalero .out of March.. slow thing it is I like to watch the instrument work..... not fancy on the over wing views... I have much of tat on my X-plane 11 and fsx,
+P1D, still working on my flight simming landings in the Premier, after a some more practice I think I'll be able to grease landings like yours. Watching you set up for landing really helps.
FYI, maybe look into a Thunder shirt for the pooch. I was skeptical at first, but it does work and keeps them calm. Just an idea when you have to take momma’s pride. Lol. Good luck I appreciate your your info and patience. Keep up the phenomenal work! Dan Fredericksen F3621
Good video P1D, if I didn’t mention it before, I am an ex- Beech engineer, mainly worked on King Airs while in the twin turboprop R&D section in the main plant there on Central ave. In Wichita (never worked on the Premier). Keep the vids coming. 73s de Tom KC3QAC
I never felt sorry for you until this flight. You looked like you were ready to shut down and bail out before wheels stop. I enjoyed the flight very much however. Thank you for all the detail. Excellent camera work and great editing. Thanks again. Don.
I love how your flight panel is set up. all modern although the use of buttons and dials so you don't get fingerprints all over the screens. if I could just but one plane, the premiere with the same set up as yours would be it. awesome air craft.
Thanks Mike was another awesome video. That dog was a distraction especially on short final when you need full concentration, you handled it well excellent landing sir.
I could totally get used to these new P1D drops every Friday. I know what I'm doing for the next 1:11:18.....if my internet feels like cooperating. Back on the bigger screen tv again this week. I'm sure you were dying to know.
Premier 1 Driver Looks fantastic! Only a 42" tv, but beats the hell out of the iPad. Any plans for a new ride in the coming years? A Lear would look awfully great in HD!
Think you’d agree Greg, the Premier’s TAS and GS data would be more ergonomically well-placed upon the PFD beneath the VS indicator (as well as upon the MFD).
Thanks for the usual compelling instructional content. We need to get some sort of canine friendly belts developed for the copilot position. Pity they can't stick their head out of the window. . . ;-)
Just found your channel and became a fan and addicted, very nice content and well edited videos, can’t stop watching! Pilot to be here, 38 hours about to check.
I hear f16 are going to be used by marines with up grade to c+ category. great flight . I like how you set auto pilot and videos are clean and crisp. I used to a part of a radio club on victoria Australia in an area called Gippsland. my call sign was Golf Romo 21. working on a frequency of 27Mhz AM. I am an avid scanner of MEL/YMML using flightradar 24. usually most planes flights to the east are going to New Zealand. GR21 goodnight.
great video, your getting better all the time. I felt like I was in there with you. I especially liked the panel shots on the left side, clear picture. Great video the barking added to the reality of whats going on./ thumbs up.
I was hoping to see the dog! I thought it was a big dog from the sound of the bark, but looks like a Shih Tzu like I have. Love your videos. Grew up us a RCAF brat around several different types of aircraft.
It is nice to be able to do engine starts with avionics powered up. Most of the light jets I flew required that the avionics master be turned off until engine gens come online following engine start.
At the end of this video you said "thanks for riding along." I would like to say thanks for bringing us along, and thanks for your service to our country.
Thank you!

Damn, you actually got a genuine belly laugh out of me with that one. Thanks for the grins. I was in the Air Force back in the 60s, totally got it!
froggie6608--Thank you for the kind words. I am forever in that Navy Captain's debt for good advice.
Yup, that sounds about right!!

Just started watching and I have to chuckle at the excited puppy! We have three dogs ourselves!
ATC audio gets better second half of flight.
Rotation like a boss at 7:38

Guys, it's crystal clear that the dog wanted to come forward to the co-pilot seat! No kidding.
Dog is my co-pilot. ;)
He wants to stick his head out the window and smell the smells! I know my dog loves to do that, would be a little tough at 300 knots!

Very Relaxing 💤
I can tell your dog watched your last video and is trying to help you keep your video clips in sync. Great video and thanks for the ride as always.

Thanks Greg nice flight and commentary, cheers
JUST checked - N100QS - 7/15/17 - Hailey Idaho (Sun Valley) to Marseille - FRANCE! Geez!
That is a serious flight.

No worries....I was doing exactly what you are doing now 30 years ago. And it was as much a thrill then as it is now. We all start there!
Always a pleasure, doesn't get any better, every thing so cool riding in the cockpit of jet plane, like the explanations, was thinking how when you were consinstrating on flight controls your mind blocked out that irratant (dog barking) it was a rush when you turned the corner and punched it
I'm glad you flew over my area.
beautiful views
I speak dog fluently. When you were on final to RSW, the dog was definitely saying, "I gotta go, and I gotta go NOW!"
You sure he wasn’t just complaining about his ears popping and all the strange noises and rapid control adjustments on final?
Your dog is fortunate to have such a good owner. Keep barking.

Hola again from ZMA (retired). KNOST is with a long O. Named after a gentleman by the name of Bill. Another great flight. Thank you again.

Hey I live in Fort Myers, getting my PPL this week at FMY (hopefully lol) just passed my written today, hope you enjoyed RSW
Not everyone wants an ATP.
That is so nice... You have your little one...Yes, I love dogs as well....To have you puppy with you is just nice....Thanks... Fly safe...
Thank you for pointing out Sarasota my hometown, Cheers!
Always fun to watch the displays. I was a dyed in the wool steam gauge pilot before I had to quit flying because of age. A bummer!
Great flight, Greg. I try to follow the flight path on Google Earth, as best I can. Always enjoy your flights. Thanks for sharing.

Your videos convinced me to buy the Carenado 390 Premier IA for FSX-SE. Thanks for sharing your passion with us. Much love and respect from France.

Enjoyed this video, as I do all of them! Yeah, it was real quiet when you arrived at KRSW. Can imagine it in winter time. Safe travels too You!
U do a great job with you're instruction thanks.
Nice flight Captain. You are livin' large, livin' the dream.
you make it look easy. I am still in a T-41A Mescalero .out of March.. slow thing it is

Nice day for a trip to Florida, and a nice video documenting the flight! Thanks again for your videos.
The jet at the end is a Bombardier Global 5000
Love the dog barking. Thanks for the explanation of the engine start. Great vid as usual.
Great flight Greg, thanks for the signed picture P1D!
Too bad for the nervous puppy passenger!
Thanks for letting us ride along. Enjoyed it.
I love the way those engines sound from about 22% N1 up to idle 😁
Great point about thunderstorms! The longest flight vlog I've watched too. Looking forward to more! :)
You make it all look so easy. These videos are my new favourite thing.
Loved seeing Anna Maria Island/Longboat Key in this video. My home area
Plane at the end is a Bombardier BD-700-1A11 Tail No. N100QS. Says registered to a jet sales company.
Love the camera views, especially the one of the MIP when you put the camera on your pad on the yoke. Cheers. Great video again.
Thanks Mike was another awesome video. That dog was a distraction especially on short final when you need full concentration, you handled it well excellent landing sir.
NFF...
Thank you for taking us along for the ride but your dog
I could totally get used to these new P1D drops every Friday. I know what I'm doing for the next 1:11:18.....if my internet feels like cooperating.
Back on the bigger screen tv again this week. I'm sure you were dying to know.
I bet the new cameras look really good on the big screen.
Premier 1 Driver Looks fantastic! Only a 42" tv, but beats the hell out of the iPad.
Any plans for a new ride in the coming years? A Lear would look awfully great in HD!
Great video as always Greg, bet your looking forward to the return flight lol. yap yap
Great video Greg! First time I viewed the INDY 500 Track from the air.
Hey, thanks for getting back to me so soon. I checked out. Man, you must of had the coolest dad ever to buy an airplane! Thanks again and fly safe
Hey Greg!! The T Shirt arrived yesterday, it fits great!! Thanks so much for the photo too :)
Think you’d agree Greg, the Premier’s TAS and GS data would be more ergonomically well-placed upon the PFD beneath the VS indicator (as well as upon the MFD).
That brightened up a UK Sunday afternoon, thank you! Great video as always.
Thanks Paul!
Greg, dog barking in background gives impression of a nice family plane. Good for sales if premier still made. Haha.
Thanks for the usual compelling instructional content. We need to get some sort of canine friendly belts developed for the copilot position. Pity they can't stick their head out of the window. . . ;-)
It would be great to show more of the Cruise at FL410 it is special up there with the deep blue sky during the day.
Perfect timing as my shirt and photo arrived today! The P1D Air Force is one more stronger!
Thanks Ray! Hopefully it arrived in good condition along with the special "gift" inside.
That it did awesome!!
Since no one else seems to have caught your request. the plane beside you as you parked at Ft. Myers, N100QS is a 2012 BOMBARDIER INC BD-700-1A11
Just found your channel and became a fan and addicted, very nice content and well edited videos, can’t stop watching! Pilot to be here, 38 hours about to check.
Good luck!
Fort Myers KRSW is awesome seeming the jets shoot the visual for ray 06 is dank
When you said "barking dog" I thought you were referring to the hydraulic pump cycling, commonly heard on the A320
Flys into ft Meyers, I do all the time, on JetBlue, airport is referred to as RSW
Nice and green at Indy Greg? and love that start up Audio... fantastic spooling.
I was hoping to see the dog! I thought it was a big dog from the sound of the bark, but looks like a Shih Tzu like I have. Love your videos. Grew up us a RCAF brat around several different types of aircraft.
I liked the dog!!!! felt homey !!!
It is nice to be able to do engine starts with avionics powered up. Most of the light jets I flew required that the avionics master be turned off until engine gens come online following engine start.
So,looking forward to viewing this one ! Thank you very much !!
That's very interesting, i sit and watch your videos for hours on end...I hope to soak in some of what you are doing...I much appreciate what you do
