Amazing, so much energy. I'm 71 and only discovered this group yesterday. Love them. Thanks.
Every year the BBC haters tell us it’s time ‘Later with Jools Holland’ has run its course and its time it was put out to pasture. As long as they continue to introduce bands such as this, and who then perform a stunning live performance, then long may Jools continue. The ONLY live music show on terrestrial UK tv, every season several performers manage to build on an appearance on the show. It also gives many a chance to check out music they may have never come across. The show is so eclectic - thank you for this amazing performance and band.
If it really is the ONLY live music show, that's genuinely terrible. I have not seen a full programme - or any UK TV - for several years (left England after that ridiculous brexit thing), but my memory is that it picked up on already happening artists and really well-established ones, plus there was always one act who turned out to be friends of a friend of Jools, and we've never heard of them since. I have seen that Jools has just subjected Wreckless Eric to that "You can play your classic song, but only if I tinkle on the ivories and simper in the background" ploy. Travesty. Shame on you Jools - and commiserations to Eric. Young Fathers rock, of course!
Tuned in for everything else, got blown away by this instead. Fair play.
Matt Wood incredible wasn't it. Best performance on jools since future islands
I do also love Starcrawler, saw them in Manchester and they were amazing. Just didn't sing one of my personal favourites and the stage show was toned down quite a bit for BBC I felt.
Matt Wood The Beauty of Jools
Me too. I was in London when this first aired and had the album by the end of this song.
That's why we love Jools.
Wtf, this is stunning.
One of the best Later with Jools Holland performances ever. I love how they perform like their lives depend on it. 🙂
Such an underrated band. Unique and relevant.
I keep seeing comments saying they're under rated. BY WHO? who doesn't rate them?
Every review I've ever heard or read is positive.
Reviews are only one (small) measure of a band's success. I saw Young Fathers live recently in a tiny venue and the tickets didn't even sell out until the week of the show. They deserve to be playing much bigger venues with much bigger audiences. They should have been on Jools years ago as well.
Aoife they won the Mercury Prize, which is as prestigious as recognition from critics gets in the UK. That said, I don't think they really appeal to the mainstream. They are rather indie.
+SamOwenI exactly. I don't want them to play every song in middle C, every song to be exactly 3:00 mins for the radio, every song talking about relationship break ups. I don't want to see them on the BBC big weekend or the One Show or for the to have 150 million hits on youtube. Fuck that. There's enough Rhianna and Beiber clones for that crap. Let them carry on doing what they're doing. Anybody who knows anything about proper music rates them.
Mundolio Knows 😂
Controlled musical aggression on such a fine scale. Gotta love that.
Hope to see more of the young fathers in 2022 .. this performance was absolutely amazing .. such an incredible sound ..
I have my tickets bought, can’t wait!
Love the way the guy in the middle is dancing.....😎🎸👍
Recommend folks go to a live show... Seen them twice and they've been my favourite ever gigs
Tom D seeing them in Madrid at a festival this year
Saw them in San Francisco last year👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👊🏾
Same here. I heard a lot and I mean a lot and personally nothing comes even close to their live performances. They are out of this world
crazy energy, I wonder if it was young father's who advised the bbc to shoot and edit it like this. If so it matched the exhilarating nature of their performance!!
It's possible, but they often (not always) get it spot and have amazing camera work and shit on Jools. Thom Yorke - The Clock comes to mind.
Chap on the left channelling his inner-Ian Curtis a bit there. Nice.
Swodeyem g been known for his moves
Oh lord watched this last night and I can't stop playing this song, most exciting stuff I've heard in ages
Utterly brilliant. And their Glastonbury set was breathtakingly good.
I think their performance at Glastonbury was the best of the 2023 festival.
@@alanduncan3337for sure
Proud black Scottish man rite here,
He’s not Scottish he’s the same clown who went to the art gallery and disrespect the Scottish legends on the paintings. He’s an anti white racist cunt
@@rentonshill561 what you been smoking
Proper!
@@rentonshill561 stfu are you having a seizure and commenting at the same time?
@@rentonshill561 Aaah little diddums upset about Scottish aristocracy being dissed for what they are ???
Hip-hop has never felt more like punk. They channel some pretty wild, chaotic energy up there. I absolutely need to see this band live.
you’d like whole lotta red.
Oh my GOD that was incredible
Can't get enough of this song.
Always torn between this and the official video... Usually end up watching both.
You can feel their passion through the performance
Quite simply the greatest performance to ever grace the screen on Jools…..💙
Do yerself a favour and see these live.
100% yes
I just bought tickets to their Vancouver, Canada show in Nov 2018. Forward thinking.
santubong2011 You will not regret it, get down the front if u can 🤘🏾🤘🤘🏿
Watching this one time its just not enough... On constant repeat!
What a performance!
Ok, I’m over 55, LOVE THIS MUSIC; first time I’ve heard this group. Righteous!
In an industry that’s seems so “been there, done that”, this is beautifully unique and just a masterclass in creativity 😍🙏🏼
Blown away...Everything you want from music😀
I’m 67. Saw them on Later... now I’m hooked.
Went to see massive attack in cornwall yesterday, who were great, but these guys blew us away!! Now hooked, I've been trying to find a video that does any form of justice to their live show, and cannot. If you go to one live gig this year, make it #youngfathers !!
I am seeing them in Nov 2018.
I was there to! I went on the Friday. It was 2 for the price of 1! Massive attack were as stunning as ever and these guys were breathtaking!
Whoever directed this video or the camera work is a genius. THIS LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING MOVIE.
The most amazing band. I hope they achieve the levels of success that they deserve.
I hope they sod off to Nigeria
One of the best TV debuts, ever!!!
What a performance, prefer this song live, just incredible
This was only their first time on the show?
I thought Jools was usually ahead of the curve...?
dallama182 My thoughts exactly
New band for me and i'm hooked! Seeing them live in Dublin next March. Can't wait 🥰🥰🥰
The end of the performance reminded me of gospel revival performances in the US. They really are a very different experience. The harmony of their voices is interesting and unexpected.
For Me the Most Original Band since Portishead! Completely Blown away by this!
Came to see the other Artists/Bands but this has stayed with Me since! Class Man 💯🔥
Cocoa Butter still the best album of 2018 thus far.
***sugar. But y'all continue to like coz y'all know it is.
deandrake 27 I agree, best album by far!!
Still listening to it non stop on my daily commute...so good
Cocoa Sugar :D
Young fathers are aliens......too much sauce for me to handle 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 #NotReady
Was at Maidstone Studio's for the recording - by far my favourite band of the night. Florence and the machine were also very good.
Absolutely brilliant. Couldn't believe how great these guys were . About time for some great bands like these. Ps this is an old sixties mod amazed at this brilliant band. 😎. Wow I was so excited
First I've seen of this band, and was hugely impressed. It seems like a fusion of different styles, it almost feels like 5 guys from different bands got on stage and decided to improvise something together, and it somehow worked. I need to check out the rest of their stuff.
Bloody brilliant performance. New fan just from this performance alone 👍
Amazing performance, blew everyone else away
Despite the ovation the crowd seemed to be almost completely unprepared for the aesthetic the guys are putting forth.
Shazamed this tune this off a tv ad last night, epic love it. Fantastic performance. Reminded me a bit of the Slaves. Young Fathers new favourite band.
They are amazing
This is fucking ART. Absolutely blown away by this band and performance.
Young fathers : masters of masterpieces. ❤️
Just popped onto hear whilst listening to this band on Radio 6, I know nothing about them but that performance is astonishing. Have not see energy like that in all of my fifty one years, superb.
Wonderfully menacing performance
Awesome powerful performance.
This is the best thing that there is.
Can’t wait to see them in Chicago!!!
This season of Jools just keeps on giving... what a performance!
The energy, fuck, great performance from a great band
These boys are different, but something "GOOD" different, if you catch my drift, liked them for a while glad they're now getting some recognition..😎
Love these guys. Best band going right now! Saw them live in Camden and they made my shins shake!
Outfuckingstanding.
F*****king amazing group! They ever so slightly remind of Anti-pop consortium and Outkast... And thats a massive compliment as all three groups are rated X ;)
I saw live few days ago before Massive Attack (and with Massive!!). What a night
This is fresh! Loving these guys already
Los amo!!!..una sonoridad única. Me generan la misma emoción que cuando descubri el Trip Hop en los 90 🙏💖🙏
Still loving this performance/ music 😎 What an incredible band😎
thank you massive attack for introducing me to these legends.
their use of the VCS (?) synth here is noteworthy alone.
So far AOTY for me. This is insanely amazing
G is on fire! Love these boys so much. Can't wait to see them live again, it's an experience like no other.
Remember seeing this recommended by Noel Gallagher. I remember liking it a lot, like a more melodic Death Grips. Thankful I finally found the video.
What an Amazing performance , blown away
Such an amazing energetic performance
Only just found these and DAMN this goes in hard...
Bloody hell cant stop watching and listening to this 😎
Чертовски круто!
This is some new energy....
words can´t explain ….. wow and thx !!!!
Love,love,love
Absolutely love these guys. Disappointing that they have got more than half the recognition that they deserve. Superb song. Smooth, it's not exactly punk yet it's got the attitude, raw voices to match. Brilliant!!!
yes yes yes, so glad I watched Jools tonight to see these guys!
DAAAAAAMN this is tight!
Blimey. Excited about music again!
That beat in the middle needed just 20 seconds more just brilliant.
how cool is that!
Fucking amazing, you just moved something inside me. Great. Thumbs up from #CilentoArea #Alburni #SalernoCity. #SouthernItaly
I wish you could press the "like" button more...
So unique this awesome
total...brutal! let me dance and sing...this guys are fucking amazing!
Well done boyz that's how to do it....👏👏👏😁😁😁
been a fan for eight years and still nothing quite scratches that itch in the way that young fathers can. totally unique and totally under-appreciated. 2022 needs a new younger fathers album!
I know its weird but im here because of florence and the machine, so lucky that these guys were in the show in the same episode. Another Discovery 💜
Rumour has it one time Oloff was sat next to Jar Jar Binks on a flight. Jar Jar kept kicking the chair in front of him and generally being obnoxious, nobody knew what to do. Eventually one of the flight attendants came over and asked Oloff if he would perform one of his songs to calm Jar Jar down, and when Oloff began rapping the first verse to Doing It Stealthy, Jar Jar immediately relaxed. To this day the two are still close friends.
This and Sleaford Mods doing Jobseeker, two of the best Later performances in recent years. Both phenomenal live acts.
The soundtrack to the new Apple Watch commercial. Congratulations
Perfection. X
at long last so glad to see young fathers
Not my type of music, but damn if im not mesmerised by this performance!
WOW!!
This is GOOD SHIT. Thanks Noel Gallagher for the tip!
Perfection ❤️
Uao! Great perfomance. Congratulations Jools!
these guys are the epitome of forward thinking pop music. I want these guys to be bigger than one direction every other boy band can perish for all I care
this energy
Do not even try to tell me this is isn't the best thing to ever be on Jools Holland.
