Hi Ronnie, I noticed you mentioned that you've had Roval Rapides in the past on your bikes. How would you say the RC6s hold up against the Rapides? I've been very happy with mine, but for a new bike build I've been looking at the HED wheels a an alternative. Thank you in advance!
I have HED's Jet 6 Blacks and their carbon Emporia GC3 Pro gravel wheels. I switched the Jet's from the white decal to the black. I really like the subtle aesthetics and the performance of course. The one downside is that the aluminum freehub body is susceptible to cassette bite but this is the norm for most wheels.
Hi Ronny, HED has set, what seem to be, very low maximum tire pressure ratings for it's Vanquish wheels, e.g., 28 mm tire is max 66 psi. Is this something that you adhere to or have to pushed these recommended limits and gone higher? I just bought a pair of RC4 Pros without knowing these limits. Thank you, Stephen
Any thoughts on HED Vanquish RC6 Pro vs Zipp 454 NSW? Would you still pick the HED over the latter ones? Looking for aero wheels suitable for both flat bits as well as some modest hills.
I thought pawl system actually has lower rolling resistance than ratchet system. Thanks for the review. Very honest. I prefer reliability & durability rather than flashy wheels honestly.
Great review. Thanks! I currently ride Campag WTO 45 on 25 tires and looking for a set of 28mm optimized wheels. Looks like the HED Pro is the only one out there... I was really getting confused about Enve SES 4.5 or Zipp NSW 454. Everyone says something different on how they compare and which is better, after just a few days or weeks of riding. Then I was looking at the Bora Ultra 60 and Swissside Ultimate… ugh…. Looks like I’ll seriously look at the HED Pro 60 because after following you for years, I know you are extremely picky on equipment 👍🏻. Not just about marginal gains but also about how they really perform after a very lengthy time of usage.
@@ronykuba This is directly quoted from their customer service e-mail: "We only have EKAR 13 speed. This system is supposed to be designed to work with 11 and 12 speed - with proper adaptors. The reality is that 11 and 12 often do not work with our EKAR hub." I am in Budapest and no one near here either sells or provides service HED. 😞
@@wss327 well, that is false. I was riding SR EPS on my Tarmac in 2021 with HED wheels. As I said, I have the freehubs in stock. Also, I am 40km from Budapest, which I don’t think is a huge deal if you need service.
Its 2024 and its still underated. HED need to update their logo. It looks dated and loud. I like the simple line designs they had from 2016. Presentation is everything.
I used to own the Jet version but they rode like aluminum wheels. ( they have aluminum wheels inside the carbon ). Anyways, I wanted to upgrade to full carbon but they so not sell full carbon in rim brake. I ended up with enve 5.6 and could not be happier. It would be good if they could offer rim brake. Not everyone likes disc
Well the Jet6s are faster and more stable than the Enves, with a wider internal width = better tire support. Plus the braking is far superior thanks to the machined aluminium brake surface. This “ride like aluminium wheels” is the typical clueless carbon snobbery. Just because something is “full carbon” doesn’t mean it’s better, that’s why HED never made them.
@@ronykuba I had full carbon dt swiss wheels (rim brake) which I very much liked, I had many other brands like Mavic. But then i bought a pair of Heds (aluminium with the carbon cover) and they are AMAZING, super stable, fast and the braking is perfect, much better than all the other full carbon wheels I had. SO for me it's a no brainer.
@@ronykuba and this is the speed balance from silica or is it from another company? I was debating getting them, but I don't think 50mm is deep enough to even use it
For those still using alloy rim brake clinchers, HED’s Ardennes series wheels are awesome.

Confused on which rims you are talking about? The RC6 pro is a narrow rim compared to the full carbon Vanquish rims.
Vanquish RC6 Pro.

Thoughts on HED vs ENVE rim brake clinchers?
Whats the difference from the vanquish RC Pro and the Jet RC Pro?
The rim construction
What about the AeroCoach AEOX® ZEPHYR aero wheels that you reviewed a few years back, would you still buy them today?
I prefer HED

I just got mine from liquidation sale of Mybikeship. Have the exact same questions
Why is on all the photos on their site the logo is black is it a sticker over the white or ?
They’re just stickers. You can get them jn white or black.

A lot depends on the grease used
I've had some good luck with Yoeleo. I'm above the weight limit and they have stayed true for over 3000km now
My demands are a bit higher than staying true 🙂

@@ronykuba unfortunately they don’t have a free hub for the Campag SR EPS and really hard for service in EU.
