thank you for posting, thought i would never see this again! i worked at a john deere motoski dealer and this reel would be cued up in the showroom. i was already a major styx fan, i still am! when "sail" comes on, i go back to that time and throttle down on the grand prix special!
This video brought so much entertainment to both young and old. It took me a while to get this film converted from a large reel 16mm film to digital. It was all worth it. Like many of you, we watched multiple times . The times were family riding and enjoyment, much different from todays snowmobiling. We didn't have a lot of horsepower, just enough!
I also spent a lot of time trying to find this. My father was the president of Bombardier. He brought this video home and I must have watched it 1000 times. Great to find it again!
Seeing this for the first time since I was 11 or 12 sitting with whole school on gym floor... been listening to this song a lot lately and remembered this film and being mesmerized, searched and oila!
I thought I'd never see this footage again...used to watch this endlessly in the back room of the AV office in high school in the late 70's....fun to see how much the sport has changed since then! Thanks for posting this! Styx 4evah ;-)
Let me just thank you for posting this. My mother and father both taught snowmobile safety classes in Illinois back in the late 70's. I took their class plus attended on my own when I was old enough. I remember seeing this video MANY times. Think this was when I fell in love with Styx. Thanks again for posting. Everytime I hear Come Sail Away, I always think back to then :D
Oh my. I just watched a concert on PBS with Dennis DeYoung and when they played Come Sail Away this movie came to mind. Back in the 70's in PA we were part of a growing PSSA (Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Assn) headquartered in Marienville, PA with our clubhouse at Highland Corners. We must have watched this a hundred times and Come Sail Away was our theme song. Thanks for the memories.
Yes, I always felt the same way every time I would hear the song "come sail away". I have one of the original 16mm films that we received at Kawasaki HQ. This was back when the sport was so different, still developing and lots of fun.

I remember seeing this on PBS back then. Also a GREAT cross country ski school show that was hypnotic.
