    Hello, what if. You wanted a small cabin/shelter to sleep in on a skiff like this: how would you shape and build it. Would need to be for mostly fishing and and sleeping out on freshwater lakes. Steve

      Canvas dodger forward with a tunnel tent extending aft supported by athwartship laminated wood bows. Run the bows inside the gunnels on T-tracks fore-aft to make it easier to deploy. Secure the canvas with snaps on the outside of the rail. Do the canvas in stations, so it can be run dodger only, cuddy cabin, full sleeper. Easy peasy.

      I took off once and forgot to tie the dingy to the sailboat, I had a friend with me in his run-about, so he went back to the dock and towed it out to me.. 😵‍💫

    I've spent the last few weeks watching your videos and man I gotta tell you I got inspired enough to buy a cheap boat and start tearing into it. Ripping out the rotted floor now, replacing that and possibly the stringers, building a front deck etc.. Not sure what exactly I'm doing, but these videos inspired me enough to give it a go! Many Thanks!

    My favorite part of this video is the look of disappointment on your face at the end of that test run. I know that feeling so well, its a part of caring a whole lot, maybe too much, about what you do. Great job, super cool boat

      Man oh man, I feel your pain. I’ve always prided on myself for being prepared and having checklists/ and “thinking of everything”. But I was so darn excited and had freshly painted the motor , and well… totally forgot. :/.
      So with that says. It did get another test run with the new owner and he hit 47 mph in saltwater. So it was incredibly close!!!! I’ve been thinking about a follow up video on it. But the new owner didn’t have a good ending…. He was ejected and lacerated on his hand and leg. Emergency room… stitches… the full experience. :/ maybe I’ll include it on a “skiff projects follow up” video I’ve been working on. Cheers!

      @@Yeetmaster900 no issues with the boat , it’s still super solid to this day. Issue was driver related, a bit of hot rodding in not so ideal conditions a couple days after getting it. It definitely was not a skiff for the faint of heart and honestly was ideal with a 9.9 hp motor.

    • @Yeetmaster900

    I tagged along for the LULz because most of these DIY builds or rebuilds are examples of 100% not what to be doing due to inexperience and bad material choices... but this build is pretty flipping cool! Curious what the total expense is at the end of the project.

    I bet that boat would be killer in the springs, along with backwater fishing. How’d it feel with chop? I’ve seen your other runs inshore. Just seems flatter near you. Halifax near Daytona is either glass or choppy lol

    • @diywaterworld
      @diywaterworld  Год назад +3

      Great question and thanks for asking. It actually eats up the chop, in some of the past runs I really put it to the test. It’s super solid and feels incredible solid in the rougher stuff. And heck yes, I thought about a long distance river trip with it and the 6hp. Still cruises well and gets almost 30 miles per gallon. Yea you read that right. Haha. Cheers!
