      Hahaha. Right on! I’ve actually been in the middle of editing a video of projects that never made it on the channel. Usually because of lost or low amount of video. Anyhow, I think you’ll like seeing some of them and overall it’ll be a fun video!

      I loved the converted sailboat going to the Bahamas. Did you pull it into that little river and camp overnight in there? That was an awesome set up to be able to get into an inaccessible area and have a comfortable enough platform to stay overnight on?

    Awesome build. Love that u are creative, wing it and don’t spend all yr time trying for a perfect surface finish. I like cars with patina and non perfect boats that I don’t have to worry about.

    Funny to see people I know from Stuart in the video! Awesome boat. I have a pirogue in The Bahamas that is a terrific boat and ran pangas in other countries. Such a great boat design capable of amazing payload, efficiency and speed. Love watching your videos as I have fixed and sailed a few sunk boats.

    I love watching you take a normal boat an cut it into a totally different skiff such a interesting process also you could probably make a sick motorized surf style thing just like a skiff that's really small with lots of power that you could carve on I know you could anyway good stuff keep building cool stuff

      Right on! I’d say my favorites are cutting up boats that 99% of folks wouldn’t look twice at then turning them into something cool! Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming stand up skiff. I think you’ll like it! Cheers and thanks for the questions/commemts!

    Your videos insprired me to restore my 14' wahoo skiff. I just picked up a 15hp merc looking for a hull for that now. I drive by your shop everyday. If you ever get a flotilla to go to the West End Id love to be a part of that!!👍

    I’m amazed by how few panga style boats there are in Florida! I absolutely love the hull style.
    A cheap somewhat similar version of panga that I’m interested in is an Old Timer. Still has that high bow, but it seems to chop through more than deflect.
    My first personal sized boat is probably going to be a Milha Lite skiff; but I did miss out on a fully redone Old Timer, 25hp 4 stroke and redone trailer for $2500.
    Ended up getting a gheenoe 15’6 classic with a buddy that needs some fiberglass work, but we have no clue if it’s something we should do ourselves or pay $2000+ for a hole to be repaired, and repainted.

    Osborn boats were built in winter haven Florida, I remember the last shop that they had and actually wound up owning one of their 15 foot center steer racing boats that was used for short circuit racing, it had a needle nose and a 65 horse loop charged Johnson on it. It was super quick and turned on a dime,they really knew how to build a bottom!!!!

    • @diywaterworld
      @diywaterworld  2 месяца назад +1

      I appreciate it! Skills are just practice that anyone can achieve, and the vision part gets easier/ more natural as time goes by. A lot of my builds are born more from “ it’s what I have to work with” rather then my top choice… I then just take a step back , brainstorm, sketch out how I can solve a problem/ make the skiff into a boat that will fit my needs. :) what’s the old saying?…. Necessity is the mother of all invention! Cheers!

    🌴Ahhh yes the panga build,😉 when I saw you cut the sides off and thought Forrest ,Forrest ,Forrest , WTF did you do ! And after you explained what your idea was , I thought well why not just add some flat stock to the two cut off sides an make a skinny flat bottom or v hull out of the left overs and get a second hull , 🤔 I was kinda scared that using the foam on the sides were going to be all wavy , but it worked out, then watching the rest of the build fall in place was cool , so does the girl friend ( wife) get pissed when ya wash your fiberglass clothes in the wash and her clothes itch 😄👍🏼 after all was done what was the total cost of project Panga ? It definitely was a cool boat ,design wise it reminds me of the long San pan boats in Vietnam, or the long panga’s they use in the Amazon rivers , I forgot to ask ya was there any flotation foam A-B foam under the floors ? This was a great especially since it’s Sunday I’m setting in the recliner,watching your vid’s , during Tropical storm Debbie giving our area a BJ , well at least I won’t have to wash the car and truck, quick put out another video I don’t know how long this storm will last 🤣

I got a 1996 aquasport osprey i got cheap from my buddy , transom was cracked , and he thought it had a rod knocking , i replaced the transom , did the floor and tank , repaired the center bearing in the 2003 honda 225 xxl outboard motor , i gotta a sweet boat now , its never finished though , theres always another improvement i wanta do to it ..but the goal was to take it to bimini ...

    Have you ever cut up a boat then when you put it in the water the balance was too far off or the sides were so low it took on water I just ask cause every video we have seen you get it perfect every time

    • @diywaterworld
      @diywaterworld  2 месяца назад +1

      Haha, that’s a great question and I actually get teased / heckled about my “success” with it from time to time. I suppose a lot comes from experience and just having a strong feeling of knowing what will or won’t work. My two biggest build challenges in guesstimating were the sub build ( how much ballast I’d need to make it stable) and the recent “Coco Loco” Proa style sand bar build. ( which I ended up building a test tank to float it in). Other than that I suppose I’ve been lucky lol.
      Thinking back I did take water over the sides of my stand up style build (first skiff shown in this video) but I pretty much knew that was going to happen if I stood on the back edges in waves. That was a big part of building the flotation pods , and for size guesstimate I simply calculated how much volume they needed to be so that they’d provide enough buoyancy to offset my weight. So sometimes a little physics comes into play ( mainly simple volume / weight calculations )

    What about the compartment for the fish box and the rod holder box. Did you cut those in later? I wonder if someone is still enjoying this boat as an awesome fishing skiff do you know where it ended up? What did you sell about like that for?

    Is there a point at which length becomes a negative? Like, if you connected 3 ghenos together into a 30' long knife blade, would that perform even better? My experience is all with displacement hulls, where more length and less width is always better.

Funny thing is I’ve got a constant project list which includes boats I either have in line to build or ones I daydream about… or both haha, and a camper / overnighter is top 3 right now. I think you’re really going to like a project I finish up the end of this month. 😎 it’s pretty exciting! Cheers!
