  • Another marathon game out from the archives and a great game between the soon to be NLCS teams in the National League.
    Original KTXH Vision20 Broadcast with Milo Hamilton and Larry Dierker from the Houston Astrodome, taken off original pre recorded VHS tapes which was later transferred to DVD (2002) and now restored and digitalized and making its debut on youtube.
    Classic game between the two rivals as the starters Sid Fernandez and Jim Deshaies take the mound as almost all pitchers from both clubs appear in this 15 inning game as Houston is ahead in the western division with San Francisco right behind them as New York keeps taking a comanding in the NL East. Houston takes the lead in this game and the Mets come right back to tie the game throughout. Astros manager Hal Lanier gets ejected..soon comes down to the wire in the 15th and ends on a close play at the plate.
    This is probably the longest game I have in my archives and one of the best games out there from the classic 1986 season

    Pretty nuts that Frank DiPino threw three innings for the Astros, then the announcement he was traded to the Cubs for Davey Lopes was made before the game was even over.

    How many catchers then or now could have that much stamina behind the plate like "The Kid ". I'm a Astros fans but Carter was a favorite of mine. Caught all 15 innings of this Game. All 12 of Game 5 and 16 of Game 6 of the NLCS that year

    A preview of what would happen with these two teams in the NLCS later that October. One question: Did the Mets players go to Cooters in Houston after this game and have that fight with the Houston police officers working there? That night is legendary in Mets lore, very much like the Copacabana fight the Yankees got into in the 1950's.

    • @aaroncalhoun337
      @aaroncalhoun337 3 года назад

      That Mets team had the attitude " we are going to take your girls. We are going to your bars and probably cause trouble and we are going to beat you on the playing field and we don't care by how much". And that year they could back it up.

      During spring training Davy Johnson told the press that not only will they win the east but they will dominate. Frank Cashing had a fit with Davy. But David knew the Mets had the talent to back it up.

My mother and my father were going through a messy divorce, this was especially painful because I was still very young and I didn't understand the intricacies of relationships and marriage. My father took my brother and I to see this game.
