These do look really good. I actually added one of these to my amazon wishlist this morning after seeing a bunch of people in blacksmiths UK recommending them. Even more convinced after seeing one in action.
Cheers bud. It's a good mug - holds a decent amount of tea. ;) Glad you enjoyed the video. I'll be doing a video on the gas forge itself as soon as possible. All the best Andy
Cheers bud. It's a great burner. You know where I am if you ever change your mind bud. A gas forge is well worth building just to have in the armoury. I'll be doing a video on sorting my one out soon. All the best Andy
Andy very good explanation, thanks for share. question, do you know wich internal angle have angle the inlet of the venturi (the removable part that control de air), thanks and have a good one
Hi, I'm not 100% sure what you mean but the gas comes in at 90 degrees to the outlet venturi - which just fires it straight out of the burner. All the best Andy
I have a huge electric kiln I melt copper and aluminum in. When I say large I mean 5 gallon bucket fits in it. I just built a large gas foundry. I've been looking for a good easy burner. Thanks.
Making up an Amal 1-1/2" burner for my old Kasenit crucible furnace, and was wondering if you'd had any experience with the compressed air assisted Amal injectors. It'd be nice to be able to melt copper, and perhaps even iron.....
I’m afraid I haven’t got any experience with those mate. They certainly sound interesting. I would think you’d be able to melt copper easily enough. Sorry I can’t be more help. All the best Andy
Hi Andy, just a quick question on the type of quick connect you use, I can't seem to find anything with the 1/4 bsp male thread on like you look to have, any chance you could let me know what type it is you have there?
Hi Jon, They're actually brass pneumatic air line fittings. I got some from work. Look up "Female quick release snap coupling" - machine mart do something similar.
Hi Andy, Just wondering what size gas tip you used in the video and if you could shed some light on economy. For instance hours at forging temp out of a 9kg propane bottle. I understand there are alot of points to take into account when discussing economy but lets just say a propane bottle forge lined with insul wool. All the best. Chris
Hi Chris, As fas as I can remember I'm using a 110 jet in this video. (I've not changed or looked at the jet since filming this a year ago) As far as economy goes I'm not 100% sure as I only use my gas forge from time to time but with the needle valve in there I've always felt it's very good. Depending on the size of your forge a 9kg bottle might last a few full days to a week. (8hr days) though you'd need to just run the forge every day to see what you really get. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. All the best Andy
Thanks for your reply Andy. I've used venturi and now operate a forced air forge but having trouble getting to welding heat. Could be that here in NZ the propane has a high butane level and obviously butane doesn't have the btu output as propane. Anyway, keep up the good work. Cheers
Quick question Andy, Is it the 3/4" burner you've got? If so is it normal 3/8"BSP threads for the gas inlets or is it the tapered ones? If it wasn't for lockdown I'd have come through and asked you in person aha.
Hi Colin, Aye it’s the 3/4” one I use. I’m not sure about the Amal burner itself but all the fittings I’ve used are tapered. You’re welcome any time chap. All the best Andy
I wonder if Amal is the same company that used to make carburetors for motorcycles? Looks like a great setup. I made a Venturi burner for my foundry and I only run it at 7psi and it can melt aluminum. I thought about turning the furnace on it’s side and trying it out as a forge.
looks like a good setup ill have to take a look at your website, just make sure you have enough tape on those joints looked like you spread it a little thin, is that why you had leaks?, if you plan to sell these make sure your using gas tape, i suspect it was but hard to tell on the video, it looked like standard plumbing tape you were using but correct me if im wrong, thanks for sharing, that valve looks like a bit of a game changer, after watching this im glad ive held off to obtain a decent burner
techron mattic You’re spot on mate. I’m going to tear it apart redo the joints with a paint on sealant. - I’ve completely forgotten the name of the product now. I’ll show it in the next video. All the best.

They’re great. Well worth the investment.
Cool Andy.... cool to see another long awaited video.... intersting mug 😉

That looks the absolute business Andy! If I hadn't already built the coke forge i'd have had your arm off!

Great video. New sub.
Excelente show parabéns

@@FeatherForge I'm on the case... 👍
Nice work andy
Do you sell the kit still for these? Couldn't see on your website. If not, any chance of links to the correct pipe to use?

I am currently running at 10 psi with atmosphereic induction. I would think that a venture style would run on a lot less pressure to do the same job.

eviltwinx I believe they are the same company yeah.
Nice. Worth a try if nothing else. Or use the burner in a forge.

Are you useing a needle valve instead of a regulator?
adam eubanks Hi Adam, no I’m not. There is a regulator on the other end of the gas hose attached to the bottle. Cheers
Andy Mckenzie thanks for the reply
Hi there could you list the parts and sizes you used please
Duncan Haller Hi Duncan. Not here but drop me an email at featherforge@gmail.com and I can email the list to you.
Cheers
Christ centered sent me your way and gave you a sub
