Not many are as good as Danny, but dude, don’t sell yourself short. I’ve been following you on instagram for a while, just saw you a had RUclips and had to pop over to watch. This is dope, love the setup!
Wow. That is impressive. I certainly hear the influence of Danny Carey, but the way you put your parts together and completely re-wrote the drum track is 100% YOU! I think you are an extremely talented musician. Yes, MUSICIAN. We drummers catch a lot of flak about that issue, but in the end, we are playing music, therefore, we drummers, are musicians. I rest my case. Moreover you my friend are one heck of a musician and drummer! Great work. I saw the last video with ONE and it was great as well. I'm as of now a subscriber. Keep it coming, brother!
Thank you so much! I think I’ll work on a video about this very subject. DC gets a lot of credit for being an incredible drummer but I don’t hear a lot of talk about how great of an overall musician he is. To be able write & compose on his level is almost unimaginable to me! Trying to sure is fun & challenging tho!!
I love this one man you really did an incredible job arranging this! I would absolutely love to see you do something like MOP, Disposable Heroes or Orion in Danny's style, that'd just be so fun to watch
Muchas gracias! ¡Espero que tengas razón en eso! Conseguir 20k suscriptores sería increíble (Perdonen mi pésimo español, puedo leerlo bien, ¡pero hablarlo es otra cosa!)
Would love to hear “Danny’s” take in Disposable Heroes or And Justice for All.. or if you really want to try something different, how about giving a Tool song the Lars Ulrich treatment?
Seriously awesome! The fact that you can somehow forget Lars's drum parts and fit Danny's expressions is spectacular. One suggestion for future videos, if you're going to re-record any AJFA songs, I wonder if you could somehow use the ones with enhanced (or recreated) bass. I would be thrilled if you could.
I really enjoyed this content. Both my favorite bands combined! One thing I would say is that Danny is also a master of know when to stop drumming, and leave room for the rest of the band to shine. Maybe when you find the difficult sections…silence might work well? Just a thought. I loved the video and can’t wait to see you do some more
Thank you so much!! I spent years learning that album on the side as my part of my practice routine back when I was still touring. So many incredible & creative parts there! DC is such a great player that I think people overlook what an amazing composer he is.
Super awesome man! As a hardcore Metallica fan in my youth and a hardcore tool fan from then until now this is just epic. Good work. Would you be willing to do a Danny Cary version of a primus song. You pick the song
Interesting idea. Danny & Tim are close friends and were my two of largest modern influences. There are a list of similarities in their playing styles! “Southbound Pachyderm” almost sounds like Danny already… Maybe “my name is mud”? Thanks for the suggestion & inspiration!
Well done bro. Could feel the Danny style in there pho sho. Some spots felt like they had too much double kick and the practice takes had some real cool spots that fit both bands. Maybe find a way to tinker those few things together and that b astounding. Either way hella better than I could pull off on a kit and it sounded great.
Well there's no doubt you know how to play the drums. That was excellent! With that being said You "Danny" overplayed those parts a little too much haha.
I love this concept, but to be honest, I think you’re trying WAY too hard to make your take different from what Lars did. IMO you really didn’t catch the feel of the song very much. You kept it too light in the beginning, and didn’t capture the steady march of James’ riffs. Like in the beginning, Danny probably WOULD keep the stabs to match the guitar as Lars does. I also felt like your part never really matched the intensity of the song at any point, and again, I think it’s because you’re just trying too hard to be different from the original. That’s just my opinion though! I’d love to hear more of your ideas, and will definitely keep watching this series! Just wanted to give some constructive criticism
Just wanted to add I like it a little better after listening to it again. The parts where you said you had trouble finding something that fits are the ones that sound the most out of place to me, but some other parts were cool. Definitely see what you were going for. I think The Thing That Should Not Be would be a good one to do in Danny’s style as it has a bit more ebbs and flows between the lighter parts and the heavier parts, whereas this one is kind of steady heavy marching throughout, which isn’t quite what he does
As I said loudly & clearly in the video: I do not think I am as good of a drummer as Danny Carey is. This series is being made for fun, and was partially inspired by Adam Jones of Tool liking the short form versions. I don’t think DC has seen them but I’m pretty sure he’d enjoy the attempt. If you don’t realize the level of respect for his abilities I would have to have to make this, I don’t know what to tell you.
“For whom the bell TOOLs” - missed opportunity there
I actually say it in the video 😂
0:51 lol
The world needs more Metoolica🤘
We’ll get right on that! Thank you. Any requests?
Sounds like doom metal...

Looove how the "learn to swim" rhythm fits in here! Good work!
It's amazing how drums can change the feeling of a song!
Sounded so different from the original, really really loved this!

The odd time signature you played during the verse hurt my brain. Great job! you got. New sub from me!
Great job! 2.56 has that aenima feel 🤘
Thank you! Yeah I straight up lifted that once I figured out if fit

@@HandsomeFuture Ooh hell yeah those 2 are actually my favorites off the album so thanks!!
Loving these videos, brother.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you & your encouragement
I love this, man. It's such a fresh take!
Thank you! That’s really what the challenge is, coming up with alternative parts & of exploring other musical approaches feels like time traveling
Doom metal is a fresh take?
This adds a whole new level of musicality. Great work!!!

Great suggestions, thank you. There’s a “Lars Ulrich” guy that has the “Lars playing (x)” thing down to a tee. He’s @tomdividedbydesign on TT & insta.

Thank you. It’s funny that you mentioned that because that’s exactly what I did for my take on “One”!!! Justice for Jason!!!
Love the idea, love the execution even more (Man, this intro still gives me chills), GREAT JOB!

great stuff! the verse is so groovy with the hi-hat, love it
ngl, really liked the chorus with plates at 6:25
the tom groove at 6:33 was also awesome
Wow! The verse groove sounds so cool!
Absolutely amazing. Would you consider doing a full video post for Orion? Sounded great on the sample

Do Harvester of Sorrow. That would Rule!!

As mentioned on your IG, this is SICK. Nice skills man, I would struggle too much not playing it as the original 😂
On this & “one” that was a serious struggle in parts for sure! Thank you so much!!
Great job 🤘
Thank you so much! this one was a challenge
@@HandsomeFuture anything with Danny Carey is a challenge. He’s the best drummer alive right now. He would be proud.
Lars = Freeway
Danny = Stuck In Traffic
Ok? 😂
@@HandsomeFuture just looking for those elitist Tool fans that jumped me on the last video, it was fun...
If I may offer feedback, drums seem to be a bit low in the mix. Otherwise, love it

On my headphones, the kick and low toms are perfectly loud.
great setup !

Metoolica 😂 very clever
🤟😺🤟
I must give credit to someone that commented on my original IG post 😂
Good efford. Close.. But, ... yeah good efford man!
I dare you to tackle a slower song from Metallica in Danny Carey style. In thinking “My friend of misery” or “The god that failed”.
Well there's no doubt you know how to play the drums. That was excellent! With that being said You "Danny" overplayed those parts a little too much haha.
From whom the bell TOOLs
Indeed 😂
Danny has been known to play a straight 4…. It was a bit busy in spots
You get like just for the cojones. Of course Metallica with Danny would have been Epic. Top 3 best rock/metal drumers alive.
'I'm not as good as Danny Carry'. Bro pretty much no one is. However, you're far better than Lars.
Why would he use drumming patterns from all his other songs instead of coming up with new stuff?
Talking is a good thing
This… kinda… just… doesn’t work
Danny knows how to groove even with the simple beat. This is just senseless noise.
Not everything works perfectly, you are not Danny yet, but I think there are very interesting sequences. Nice job.
Less Is more
Spiral out
Metallica with a real drummer would be crazy. Maybe the musc would be more inspired.
Tell Lars to do it this way bet he can't
and you can't even write a proper sentence.

Good drumming man, but just NO, this is chaos not good music.
I am very sorry but in my opinion this was completely overdone.
The audacity to think you can emulate Carey is unreal.
