And maybe it's an artist who did most of the work of his tracks by himself. Because though in the EDM scene it seems like every DJ is almost doing everything by himself, it's usually a lot of teamwork, vocals are bought and the music is written around it and so on. 18:04 This guy has to be hands down the one who carries the most life wisdom ever interviewed on this show, its almost like he's speaking from the context/perspective of he's track "Kai Tracid - For Just One Day" and Kai Tracid - Too Many Times.
A very engaging interview. It's very informative. He was frank and open in his conversation with you. It was good to know all the details. I didn't know he made a remix for La Bouche until recently and also, that he knows Lane McCray. I have had the pleasure to meet Kai as well as Lane. Kai is a cool, down to the earth person. He is a legend and among the best artists. He has a unique sound and that's what great about his productions. His Dreamstate 2019 was among the top 5 sets and was unreal. People went nuts and couldn't stop raving about it. I was looking forward to some of his other U.S. gigs this year. It sucks that Corona had to ruin everything. 😡 Great interview. 😍🙌🏽👏🏽
I became interested in this "new" techno hype when I discovered when I discovered Charlotte De Witte playing Kai Tracid. And Lo and Behold, after not too long Kai made a comeback with Techno. When i saw DT64 in the charts I went bananas. :D
The best thing about this interview is how humble and down to earth Kai actually is. An Artist which you can tell doesn't have any ego and genuinely makes music for the love and passion. A true legend of the music scene who deserves the utmost respect. Thank you Kai for your contributions to music over the last 3 decades.
Thank you for this interview. Kai Tracid seems to be a really nice guy. Though he kinda stopped releasing music after his 3rd album or at least in his signature style, I consider his Kai Tracid stuff of his 3 albums as absolut classics. I don't know why his tracks are so good. It's probably because they have a lot of depth in them. Good melodies is one thing, nice beats and synths another thing. But having good thoughtful lyrics is something special, especially in dance music but honestly for most genres. I'm still listening to his tracks from around 1999-2003 regularly and they don't seem to get old.

What a great interview! He is a very cool down to earth guy. His music has always been really special to me. It was a time when I was playing clubs every week and his tracks were always in my record bag. It almost makes me feel sad now hearing the tunes as it reminds me of how passionate I was about all the new music coming out at the time and how it's not quite the same for me any more. I don't know wether the new music just doesn't strike the same chord in me or if the drugs I was doing every weekend played a part in making me more into the music. Either way it's great news that he is still making music. Since hard trance of the era came to an end, nothing else quite gave me the same feeling since!! Great interview Twan ! Looking forward to the next 2.
Very interesting interview, thank you, Twan! I clearly remember that "Skywalker 1999" and "Trance & Acid" were huge among the Trance-music fans in my country. I wasn't, really, much into Kai's music, although, I respect him a lot. But I do remember, that at one of the, early, party's in my life (I wasn't even a DJ, by that moment) someone played "Liquid Skies" and it completely blew my mind! There was some speculation around the town, that some promoters going to book Kai for his live show, but, sadly enough, It never happened, I guess those were the "finest hour" years for Euro-Trance / Progressive-Trance. I'm wishing a Kai best of luck with the process of creating a new album! Once again, thanks for the interview, it was very interesting and well-cognitive!
@@muzikxpress Of course, as always! Fantastic! Still remember buying that CD-single back then, when you knew nothing about those guys beyond the photo on the cover. Therefore, they were surrounded by a pleasant form of mystery. Hardly anybody even knew how vinyl-DJing worked, or how they made the tracks. Most probably you will have asked them once in a while, but it would of course be great to peek into the sequencer sessions a bit. Most will not have the old software running today, but they will have stems at least for the hits. Would have been fun if Kai could have shown what bothered him in the new DT64 track on screen. However, many of the old guys perhaps don't want to share the secrets as everybody today does. The mystery shall remain. ;-)
