An outstanding and iconic track from back in the good old days. Such a simple melody which ingrains itself in your brain and stays with you for hours after each listen. Great to hear the story behind it, thanks Twan! One of my favourite clubbing memories ever involved this track and it's one of the few things I can actually remember from Ibiza 1998. I was in Es Paradis, Storm was blasting out, and as the track kicks back in at its peak all of the water fountains/jets erupted in sync which of course turned the dancefloor into more of a swimming pool. I felt like I was in the opening club scene from Blade albeit with less vampires and water instead of blood haha. Good times though!
I remember recording this and for an angel off the radio on a cassette lol. I used to play it in my parents car all the time and drive them crazy. One of the tunes that got me into the music I still listen to this day.
Another great old school track! . Great interview again Twan. Man I love the good old days, so glad these some of these guys still want to make older style and not try compete with the new stuff. 👍😊
@@muzikxpress your channel and your interviews have inspired me to dust off my synths and start making some trance and techno again. Old school with hardware of course :-) Hope you can interview many more. Cheers 🙂
The first time i Heart this track was on radio, i stopped the car in the middle of the street looking at the speaker likes this 😮😮😮😮😮 , i Remember 😅❤ this trac Is the wow
remember coming back from a day swimming with my parents (storm was coming up too) and the track was playing in the radio - sort of top20 charts on sunday. at this time i wasnt intro dance music, still pop music mainly, but somehow this one got stuck in my mind.
Great interview! Jam El Mar this is exactly why I started my own record label. So many labels don’t reply when you send them your music. Great channel! Keep up the great work!
Yesss...a new interview 🤩🙌🏻😄 love Jam & Spoon interviews😄👍love this track 🤩🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺♥️👌 it was a great track back in those days, even hearing it now feels like a brand new track🤩👍 Thank you Jam El Mar aka Jam & Spoon sir😄🙌🏻🙂and Muzikxpress 🤩👍♥️👌
Thank you for this Twan! All 3 interviews with the guy are fun, passionate and engaging. One of my favourites so far. Was waiting for the "Storm " one. I love him saying about starting a new label to get away from the lack of feedback from labels when submitting tunes. Been there myself. Even if they don't accept signing your tune. Its nice to hear why not and constructive criticism
Wow I listened to these Crash guard (aka M.I.K.E.) tracks and they're amazing! The kind of acid techno you wouldn't expect from Push himself. BTW I own Storm - Storm on vinyl and it's a belter.
Such a classic track/project. Excellent video/interview again Twan, although I would've loved to hear Rolf's thoughts on the Storm video (which I personally love).
Cant get enough of these videos, great interview love to see all these legendes of electronic music and hearing their stories. Thank you very much for you work on these videos :)
12:36 I totally agree! I fire off tracks to labels, never get an answer are they interested or not? how long do I leave it? but no I now put out my own music on my own label as well, if you do it yourself you know it gets done. Nice interview and great to hear how Storm started
Thank you Stephen! And for my vlogs I always focus on 1 track, but..... if I will ever be back in Frankfurt and have the chance to talk to Jam El Mar again, "Time To Burn" is on the wish list for sure! ;-) I did pick "Storm" because it was the debut track of the new project and also because it recently got re-released ;-) There are at least 5 tracks I would love to interview Jam El Mar about tbh haha
@@muzikxpress I don't blame you mate, I would probably have picked it too as like you say it was the beginning of a great project. You can see jam el mar struggles when talking about Markus spoon. Sad :-(
Your Interview was the Reason why i purchased the same 1st Nord Lead Rack Version as seen on the old Studio Pic. Fun Fact, the Main Melodie from "Meet her at the Loveparade" came also from a Nord Lead! ✌🏻+ ❤
@@muzikxpress ...from the Nord Lead came also the Main Melodie from '97 Loveparade Hymn "Let the Sunshine in your Heart" and of course, from the '97 Version of "Te Quierro" and many, many more, its a great Synth with a unique Sound!
I love Stella, such a great track, always reminds me of past trips to Ibiza. Storm and time to burn were amazing harder sounds for the popularity of trance music in the late 90's- early 00's and I would say there remix of age of love was pioneering for dance music. As for there storm name it has to be time to burn by a pip over storm!
@Don't Shoot sorry sir I have edited it now so you can sleep easy, I wasn't really answering it, just giving a summary of my thoughts on all there work. But wow there is always one even on a small love of trance music channel. Bet your a blast at Christmas!
Nice informative interview. Good insight by the legend. Storm was definitely a unique project. I liked many tracks from the album they released. I liked their alias names, Trancy Spacer and Spacy Trancer. I thought that was cool and unique. "Love Is Here To Stay" is my favorite Storm tune. I actually did not like the title track, "Storm," right away. Initially, I didn't like the repetitive melody because I got a headache listening to it. But eventually, the track grew on me. However, I liked their follow-up to "Storm," "Huri-Khan," right away and prefer it much more over "Storm." The new Jam El Mar remix of "Storm" is da bomb. 🙌🏽🔥 Nice to know about the collab infos that Rolf provided. I sure hope his and M.I.K.E. Push collab happens someday in the near future. That would be great. I was also under the impression that Rolf and Kai Tracid were working on a collab.
Loving these interviews at present, probably the fact that cant listen to the music in its correct environment so next best thing learning about it. Great work Twan. Are we going to learn how Follow Me was created ?
Thank you! During my stay in Frankfurt I did 3 interviews with Jam El Mar; I decided to pick 3 tracks from 3 different projects. For the Jam & Spoon interview I picked “Stella”, since that was their big breakthrough. The “problem” is that they did so many great tracks, so I could easily pick 6 or more tracks I would still love to talk about with him. Maybe one day 😉 But the “Storm” one was the last one from the 3 interviews I recorded with him this year.
@@uggiebear1 thanks so much John! I hope to be able to make another Frankfurt trip one day. First let’s hope this whole COVID stuff will end ASAP, since it is screwing up a lot of my plans hehe...
Damn I really like this track back in the day But i wasnt very deep into the Techno/Trance scene at all back in the day and néver realised this where Jam & Spoon.
I have it on vinyl, my brother started messing with my decks back in 1998 and let this record fall on the ground and it has like an apple bite on it, I can only mix it in from about 1 minutes in.😀🤣
200th 'like'! Pity Time To Burn was not discussed as his catalogue is so huge and he had other projects to document but I understand as Storm came out before it but I'd argue TTB was better/bigger or at least more successful commercially but I do remember hearing 'Storm' on a CHART double CD (lol) in the UK in 1998 when I just passed 11 and did like it then even if it was a bit weird sounding to me then. Rolf is certainly a gentleman, seen him in other interviews before. Great stories about Mark Spoon too, rest in peace.
I hope I can do an interview about “Time To Burn” another time. For this time I was able to do 3 interviews with Rolf, so I did pick tracks about 3 different projects. “Storm” was the first track from this new project, so that’s why I did pick this one. There’s still like 5 more tracks I would love to talk about with him, but I have to make choices sometimes as you might understand 😉
@@muzikxpress It was a banger and exactly what I loved at the time so not surprising you would want to cover it in interview too! Got high in the UK singles chart which was mentioned I think. Of course their best was Watch Out For Stella mix of Age of Love, but the other mixes are also superb. Good luck getting him to comply, he is probably sick of interviews now heehee!
@@muzikxpress Great to hear that. I'm not familiar with the total Jam/Spoon catalogue apart from the few big ones but Age of Love won't be beaten ever. Although it is a remix (but I think many assume its the original as it is so iconic) you should cover it a little next time unless you did in the previous ones but I have bad memory....and Time To Burn of course as you said yourself. Good luck with that and others artists.

The question is , where the bongos /congas loop used on the track was sampled? I have a record of emmanuel top titled Kong - Kong (2001 if i remeber wrll) with the same sample ! What is the original sample?
One day I would love to find an interview with Da Hool on this channel. His most popular tracks "Meet Her At Love Parade" and "Wankers On Duty" still blow my mind when I drive my car flying on a high-way.😉

Really good content. The only thing I don’t like is when the interviewer asks a question, in this case ‘What equipment was used’ without acknowledging that the interviewee has already partially answered the question.
Ill be honest i was never really into this track when it came out. Go easy on me lol. I appreciate the tune much more now and definately wack it on some mixes.
