German DJ and producer Kai Tracid is a well known name in the music scene for many years already.
In the year 2001 his track “Life Is Too Short" came out, which is based on a piece of music from Klaus Doldinger called “Flug Auf Dem Glücksdrachen”; A track which was used in the movie “Die Unendliche Geschichte", which is internationally better known as “The Neverending Story”.
“Life Is Too Short” contains vocals by singer / songwriter Vernon. The track became a big succes and it was Kai’s very first Top 10 hit in his home country Germany. It is also one of his most well known releases so far.

Have you ever seen a DJ set from Kai Tracid? If so, when and where did you see him?
Luminosity Beach Festival 2016 and 2017. Two of the best sets I've ever experienced. An absolute legend.
Hi Twan, I saw him play at the Republic for Gatecrasher, Sheffield UK in 2001/2002 thereabouts. He didnt play a full set as he was late, but it was amazing nonetheless as the tunes he was playing were big and fresh.
I saw him @ the Trancefusion - the Legends in Prague ( 11.10.2014 - Forum Karlin ). His Set was the Best. I came from Berlin to Prague to see him live.

If this happened one day, it would be one of the coolest breaking news for me. And nowadays when all the musical stuff played on the radio or at festivals sounds like almost the same tune I'm pretty sure that many of us are missing such artists on the stage as Kai Tracid, really unique in their originality and production.
I am listen Kai Tracid to it when I driving to work, it lifts my working mood. Respect to a good musician and masterpieces maker . Greetings from Chicagoland .

This was the first trance track which made me shed tiers. I remember just standing in front of the TV, listening to the music, tried to understand the lyrics. Tiers just flow on my cheeks.

Another top interview. Find it fascinating that his record company wanted his future singles to sound like ATB. There is no contest between Kai's music. He is far superior.

16:28 I feel so fortunate being on Kai Tracid set where he played Life is Too Short.
Very interesting to find out why none of his tracks got UK releases due to the "rights". Luckily I used to go to Germany regularly in the times he was massive & bought all the releases in Germany & bringing them back to the UK. Seen him at a Viva Club Rotation Night bk in 2002/3.

Lifelong dream to see Kai Tracid live. I waited 20 years to finally see him at Dreamstate SoCal in 2019. It was everything I hoped it would be and it was one of my favorite sets of the event! Keep making music man!!! We need more Tracid Trax!

Thank you for this interview. It's really nice to see a music producer from my teenage years still being alive and breathing. I hope he will find a way to release new music. He should team up with some guys to help him. I'm grateful for his classics, I'm still listening to them relatively regulary. They are dance music classics to me.

Trance and Acid was my first exposure and still one of my all time favourite tracks, To Many Times haunted me both then and now and I still listen to both tracks!

Dank je! En die staat zeker op de wish-list, maar dat kan nog wel even duren. De producers van Derb wonen in de regio Frankfurt en dat is helaas niet echt in de buurt. Dus dat zal na COVID zijn en als ik weer een keer een aantal interviews in Frankfurt kan doen. Dit is een hobby voor me, dus ik heb niet echt een budget om regelmatig interviews te doen bij producers die wat verder weg wonen. Maar..... hopelijk gaat het ooit lukken ;-) Als je op mijn Facebook pagina kijkt bij het vastgemaakte bericht, dan kun je zien wat ik momenteel wel / niet kan doen etc. Dank je! :)

Great interview. If Tracid Traxx comes back, I hope it will be on vinyl. There are many distributors for vinyl out there that an established label could work with, Vinyl Future for example, that sells through deejay.de

It's a pity that Kai doesn't remember all the hardware he used in production, but it's been a long time since Life Is Too Short's premiere so that's normal.
I hope he will come back to making music frequently. Maybe it is more difficult today, but there are still producers from that time who still release new tracks like Paul Van Dyk, Kyau and Albert, ATB etc.
He is right about the recognition part. So I kindly like to give him the recognition and thank him that I could grow up with knowing his music. I have to rewatch his Sensation Black dj set he did back i the days.. En ook bedankt Twan voor jou inzet bij dit alles. Je bent echt bevoorrecht dit werk te mogen doen. Pls blijf zo doorgaan! Ik apprecieer je harde inzet bij dit alles.
