  • This is the fourth of a four part "Camping/Outdoor Skills" series that is a deep dive into the Truckers Hitch. This episode covers, for many, a new and unique version of the Trucker's Hitch called the Double Loop Version. In this series we will cover many variations of the Trucker's Hitch. In this course viewers will learn the Alpine Butterfly, Full and Half Sheepshank, Inline Figure 8, and the Tautline Hitch to name a few. Having a good command of the most useful camping knots will make any outdoor adventure better.

Using poly rope to pull a big lemon tree away from my garden shed. Needed the double loop. Really handy, thank you.

After moving to a Welsh Farm house in desperate need of renovation, the actual moving and various jobs round the place, I realised my knotting skills are less than zero.
So after multiple YT videos and finding out about the 'Truckers Hitch' and at least one easy method, I wanted to know it better and perhaps alternatives.
Your videos have really helped me understand the various methods and choose the ideal set for me.
Now I just need to go back and see if you provide instructions for how to actually tie the line to start with!
    Many thanks

One improvement I might suggest comes in handy when tying off. The pinch method is ok but sometimes you still seem to lose some tension. If you pass the bitter end through the loop a second time it will form a hitch. You’ll find you can pull tension and just let go! It will hold. Of course you still need to tie off to make it secure but you can use both hands and not have to pinch.

This is indeed quite handy. I have carpal tunnel so my grip and pinch functions aren't super great.
