    New hammock camper here.
    Been getting everything together to go on my maiden hammock camping trip in mid July to North West Arkansas.
    I have been watching all kinds of “How to Tie Knot Videos”.
    By far, you are the easiest to understand and follow step by step.
    Thank you for making this easy to follow video.

    I didn't know you could make a bowline this way! Always made a bowline and used that loop to attach it to the tree with a slipknot. This is so much easier! Quick and to the point as well. Thank you so much.

    • @Limicola1
      @Limicola1 Год назад

      I agree it's pretty cool but you can do the same thing tying the bowline conventionally. Make a "six" (a loop) in the standing part (just turn the standing end to make the loop), run the bight end around the tree, pass it up through the loop in the standing part, then run it around the standing part (left or right--it doesn't matter) and back down through loop. It's "the rabbit jumped out of the hole, ran around the tree, and jumped back down the hole" method, but the "tree" is the standing part and the loop that goes around the post is the bight end.

    Wow... I learned both knots as a scout and now I am a scoutmaster... Like so many other comments, my mind is blown with the Bowline. So simple it makes me ashamed to admit it..lol. From this point on, no more "rabbit around the tree ". This will be how it is taught... thank you

    • @seretrainingschool6778
      @seretrainingschool6778 5 лет назад

      Ah! Bless you! When I teach knots I ask if any of the folks know the bowline or remember something about a rabbit and a tree. If they don't or seem shaky, I teach it this way instead. Some still prefer what I call the "boy scout" way of learning/doing it, though I call it a snake, not a rabbit! I think for those that really struggle with knots it still has merit!
      I've been tying it this way for almost 30 years now and definitely prefer it over the traditional method. I'm happy to spread the magic. I recently heard a great name for it: the "snap" bowline.

    Oh my! I have watched so many videos about this just so I could hang a short clothes line between two posts and the directions were always so confusing. The line seemed tight till I tried to hang something on it. The tightness was done by pinching fingers and pushing or pulling the line taught ....in any case. I’m in my mid 70’s. My fingers aren’t doing that. Then I saw your video with the pulley. Wow. I just hung two short lines in my yard and the sheets aren’t touching the ground! And it was simple....not “over this way and under that way and around and through”....whew! Women just make it easy. Thanks so much.

I always had access to chains,ratchet straps and other mechanical devices so I just ignored learning good tying ! Your video just made it so simple to follow your knots,it seemed like too easy ! Other videos complicate what should be a very simple task ,as you have shown here . Thanks so much .You should be a teacher because you have a gift of getting your point across.

    I was taught that knot she just did many years ago, but we never knew the name of it. The only difference was that we did not make the first loop a 'slip' like she did. I think I'd like the 'slip' knot better as after we were done cinching ladders and pump jacks to the top of the contractor's work trailer, we'd have a heck of a time getting that loop out of the rope! I don't know why this was in my suggested section, but glad it was. Thanks for this great video!

    • @seretrainingschool6778

      Glad you liked it! You can put a couple more twists in the slip loop before pulling it through as a modification which makes it even easier to undo when taking it down. I really like the versatility of the trucker's hitch. There are so many ways to modify it for various uses and still get the 3:1 or more mechanical advantage. Happy tying!

    I use the truckers hitch all the time ,it's an incredible knot if you add more loops you could snap the line ! Thanks for the additional tips😎

    Just stumbled across this video. One of the best I have seen. Clearly explained with close ups of the knots. Thank you!

      Clearly explained how to tie a slip knot and not a truckers hitch. This is just plain BS !
      Search around. Slip knots on a heavy load ties up. That's why you don't use a slip knot as a truckers hitch.

      @@mapo5976 Dude...relax. You need to follow along. It's a truckers hitch and it won't bind up under stress. Watch what she does to prevent that from happening.

      @@treydrier3169 I'm relaxed.😖 Lol. I used to use a slip knot as a truckers hitch. Until I had to destroy my rope because of bound knots. (Because I listened and followed blindly videos like this)
      Under heavy tightening. Super load stresses....tied in this way *will bind* . Guaranteed ! This is not a correct way to tie this knot. Light loads... maybe. But then don't call it a truckers hitch. There are better knots that are quick release, non slip than this "one size fits all slip knot"

    The way you tied the bowline was the star of this video, thank you...I've never seen it done that way.

    There is so much content out there about people living off the land, or 7 nights alone in the Canadian wilderness but it's more vlog/diary style.
    I want to see how these things are done and this video alone is almost all you would need for a tarp shelter.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Seriously, FANTASTIC video demonstration. I usually use figure 9 carabiners, but with this video I can get rid of them and just use the rope! Thanks so much. I’ll be sharing this video for years to all my hiker/backpacker friends!

    Awesome instructional video. I have been doing the truckers tension loop knot thing to secure stuff in a truck for a long time, but was doing it wrong. it worked, but didn't come apart easy. Thanks! and PS, 23,000 likes is great, the 800 some people that took the time to hit thumbs down, I pray for you to find a life. This is 100% positive energy and good information here. thanks The Prepared! Peace

      I agree who can thumb down a knot tying session. Once learned the truckers hitch can be remembered. I use it more often than ratchet straps for most load tiedowns. Pulling on a TH you can pull a rope in two before the knot will ever give way and still it disassembles very easily. A good tie knot has no hard knots

    Genius. Easiest bowline I've ever seen. Trucker's hitch clearly explained and using toggles to peg out tarp very clever. I usually use shock cord prussic loops. This is a nice minimal way of doing things. Thanks from the UK.

    Great video. I use similar knots when setting up my tarp using trekking poles. Simple knots equal quick set ups and take downs which are especially appreciated in rainy or windy conditions.
