ThunderCats Roar is officially CANCELLED by Cartoon Network. This short lived, mean spirited "deboot" of the classic 1980s ThunderCats series was controversial since its announcement in 2018. Can we STOP with the CalArts-ified 1980s and 1990s reboots already?

The show runners tried to cancel fans for liking the original better and criticising the reboot, but in the end their show got cancelled. The irony.
It's delicious
When someone's kid makes lousy art you slap it on the refrigerator door and forget about it NOT put it on tv for every one to call it retarded.
Thank you Karma.
I'm not sure it's so much irony as just expected at this point.
Ironic
Do you know why it's cancelled? It's because of Tom Ascheim, the new CEO of Cartoon Network. First he greenlits the Tiny Toons reboot, Unicorn Warriors Eternal, a new Genndy show, 3 Mo Willems shows, demands that Hanna Barbera classics like Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Jonny Quest, Josie and the Pussycats, Top Cat and many more should air on Thanksgiving and now cancels Thundercats Roar?!! Dang, that man is making big moves👍🏾
I'm hopeful he brings some real change to the network. So far, he's good in my book.
He's doing so much better than the last network head.
I just hope that Cartoon Network Studios doesn't die out and put him out of the job
The old queen is dead long live King Ascheim!
*WOW!*
This new guy is a *CHAD!*
AWESOME!!
@Frank Castle They also have Sam Register on board who's the CEO of the in house studios. Even though he's made some questionable decisions over the years like advocating for TTG and Thundercats Roar, I think he will do a good job considering the fact that he's been a longtime employee of CN since 1998 and he also created Cartoon Orbit which was a great website.
As someone who operates a ThunderCats Wikia, today is a VERY good day! I will soon no-longer have to document anything related to this abomination!
Massive win!
Just declare it non canon and erase it from history
Only document as much as is necessary to be clear it sucked, why it sucked, and why it isn't worth noting in detail.
Remember how not to write Thundercats
@@Sketch_Sesh Sadly, it doesn't work like that. Everything related to the franchise has to be documented. But, it means there will be VERY little to document beyond episodes and characters / objects that appeared in the cartoon. It can be placed in a time capsule and ignored.
I had a feeling it would be on the cards, if the 2011 version got the axe after half a season and everyone liked that one, what chance did this version stand?
I think some tone deaf exec thought that crapping out anything with a classic 80s IP was money in the bank. Guess not...
@@ClownfishTV Indeed, Not sure who they were aiming this at. Only snobbish "this show isn't from you" retorts from the staff, then inserting needless politics.
But why can't these companies take a risk on original IPs, let kids have their own generation of shows, rather than regurgutate what their parents watched.
@@Larry I was just watching one of your videos a minute ago how's it going?
Hello, you.
Cynical attempt to attach a known license to a new low-fi comedic cartoon.
Feels like every Western cartoon is trying to be the new Adventure Time or Rick and Morty. Meanwhile Anime is taking the audience that desires something both detailed and new.

This show only lasted a year. While Teen Titans Go managed to last longer and even make a movie.
Really makes you question the people who ran Thundercats Roar to the ground.
Teen titans go is probably the reason it got cancelled so fast as much as people trash on teen titans go it was at least the first kind of comedy reboot CN did. Like they can have at least one of those shows but having more of those just makes it look copy pasted and lazy (see also the powerpuff girls reboot)

*Gets cancelled within a year*
I can say this, I think that people saying the first episode being disrespectful were wrong. I still didn't like it but there is a difference between it just not being funny and disrespectful. It didn't really attack the previous show and I'm ok with rebooted shows trying to go the comedy rout. I thought the show would die on its own because of how bad it was, but I didn't think it was disrespectful even hearing him talk about it everyone laughs at the old stiff animations that use to be cutting edge. Then Teen Titan's go episode happened... I was shocked they had panthro freaking lying there as a pile of bones. WTF? My jaw just dropped. People make jokes about dead actors all the time, but that one that one was just tasteless.
@@chaosdirge4906 I disagree, I think it was both unfunny and disrespectful just by rehashing and bastardizing episodes from the original and from the way they portrayed the characters; for example, in the original series, when Thundara was destroyed you can tell that it was a big deal with the characters and the story, and when Jaga sacrificed himself you felt the weight of that decision and was treated with respect and grace; but this with series, they just have it blow up saying "Ah well, all planets gotta blow up sometime.", and when they got to Jaga they had him act like a buffoon say crap like "Ooh I'm a ghost!", basically dumbing down the character and portraying the character in a disrespectful manner.
I understand if you don't see it as disrespectful, but for a lot of people it was, Thundercats Roar felt like a punch to the gut to what came before it.
@@KelShu Like I said stuff like that I don't find disrespectful, I don't find that kind of stuff hateful people need to learn to take a chill about some things. I grew up watching thundercats all the same I'm 33. I liked it, I like speed racer, I love old cartoons. But I also Know that memes and humor have changed some things about society in the recent years. I don't like the guy that made it, I think he's an asshole, but I can't say the cartoon itself is disrespectful to the material the point of a parody like this is to make fun of it. Its only when a reboot starts thinking its better than its actual material that it becomes insulting. Stuff like when the Haunting on Hill House made itself unironically and actual ghost story when the original was All a ploy to get away with murder. The "oooo I'm a ghost" and recreation of everything in chibi style isn't insulative. Its just bad taste. Like I said, I thought it was doomed to fail either way though. Look at anime You know all those shows that have school classrooms based on gritty anime protagonists sent to other worlds? Is attack on titan Highschool insultive to Attack on titan? How about that one where Shield hero and Eins are in the same class? In the US we make stupid shows and we don't have the budgets that the anime community has otherwise something like Thundercats roar would be running at the same time as an actual thundercats cartoon. I'm not saying it didn't degrade further down, I watched an episode or 2 after the first ones and it did... but the first 2 episodes... purely just bad comedy.
@@chaosdirge4906 The difference between Isekai Quartet and TCR is that Isekai Quartet treated the characters with respect while still being a parody, TCR on the other hand felt spiteful and meanspirited in its satire.
People know how to "chill" when it comes to satire when it's done right, this wasn't done right
@@KelShu Again, it wasn't spiteful, I saw no indication of that In the first 2 episodes, the only time it got spiteful was when it was agitated and they started making fun of the older fans. But you are free to your own opinions. As I said it did degrade as time went on, but I don't think that the way they poked fun at it in the first 2 episodes was disrespectful it was just stupid.

Wow, who would have thought that remaking classics shows like She-Ra and Thundercats into low-budget, low-quality animation, and politically charged ones would have negative feedback?
I liked the she ra reboot but what was so political about it?
Apparently not the creatively bamkrupt creators.
The good news: It's gone.
The bad news: You know WB is going to see this as "ThunderCats isn't a good property" instead of "we're too dumb to handle this well".
so true, and that’s what’s truly upsetting, because thundercats in general has so much potential, hell the 2011 version that i saw as a kid was pretty damn good in my opinion, but it wasn’t given the proper chance to finish the story it started.
Good. Now get the 2011 cast and crew back together, and pick up where it left off. I know that won't happen, but a man can dream.
The litter box is too good for Thudercats Roar.
Let this be a sign to CN that we want a new season of the Thundercats reboot and not another garbage TTG clone.
Oh no that is terrible. I'm shedding several tears, you can't tell as I'm RUclipsr crying but they're there
Your avatar just screams sarcasm with this statement I love it
