Pretty spot on. I did 11 years in the alabama department of corrections. I had 2 sayings that helped remind me.

Depends on the prison, guards, the assaulted inmate, the attacking inmate, the country etc. A lot of different factors.

The system is DESIGNED to deny you the possibility of just doing your time without further trouble. It is not by accident that inmates are forced to fight, and get punished in a never ending cycle, it is by design.

I went from "Visitor" to "Occupant" pretty quickly.
I think you'd go to the local system before they straight up throw you in the penitentiary. The penitentiary is for those that have already been tried and sentenced.

The video maker clearly doesnt know what a snitch is. A snitch is typically somebody who is involved with the crime but chooses to then snitch to not get in trouble and throw others under the bus. It wouldnt apply in any of these scenarios because the other person started the fight. It was not something you willingly agreed to be a part of so you are not a snitch and are simply defending yourself.

Thank you for bringing up how in jail violence gets treated criminally just like it would be in public. This is how people who are arrested for nonviolent crimes get thrown into dehumanizing circumstances and how that fuels further dehumanization

The most that I've seen is when I did 3 months in jail for a DUI. Thankfully, I didn't have any problems with fighting and was able to do my time peacefully.

@@my-1903 yeah, I guess none of my crimes were severe enough to qualify for time in prison. At least in Florida, you would have to be sentenced to a year and a day or longer, anything less and you would just stay at the county jail and do your time there.
Note to self. Don't go to prison. Do nothing ever to be charged to go there.

Not necessarily, just because someone loses a fight or 2 or 3 doesn't mean they're a punk! First, someone has to lose! But just cause you lose doesn't mean you stop fighting! If you are known for fighting back every single time even if you lose every time chances are you'll get respected for having heart! So just cause you can't fight doesn't mean you'll be tested all the time because it's about courage, not always skills!

I was wrongfully accused of a crime and held without bond in a county detention center. Not a county jail but the holding facility they keep you at separate than the downtown jail, to keep the inmates with no bond from clogging up the in and outers.
I’ve never gone to war, but I’ve been there. I still scare my girlfriend and friends sometimes waking up from nightmares screaming or fighting before I “snap” together.. I’m 23 years old....

What happens when you get “taken to court”
At a minimum security prison, If there’s no serious injuries, then a lot of times not a lot happens
The perpetrators might get a misconduct
If there is serious injury, then the perpetrators usually get shipped to higher security

In Missouri, if a fight happens we take them.both to ad-seg (admin segregation), for about a week then see an ad-seg committee and be told what will happen from there

I've been in jail 4 times. The shortest time was 8 days, the longest 52 days(1/6th of my time). Most of the time it's peaceful(on edge/stressful but peaceful)
In the country where i live if you get 2years -1days(sentence)... you don't go to same prison has people getting 2-5-10-20years.
