This Is What ACTUALLY Happens During Prison Lockdown

- Опубликовано: 4 мар 2020
- Prisons have a safety protocol they follow when something out of the ordinary happens. They lock everything down. If someone gets violent and hurts another inmate or if the guards sense a riot brewing, the entire prison will go into lockdown, and lockdowns can last hours, days, weeks, or even months! Today we're going to show you what goes on inside a prison when everything gets locked up.

As a former corrections officer, I can say this is the first video (not made by a habitual criminal) that actually shows that they did their research. Major props 👍🏻
K PlayZ which country did you work in? If it was outside of America, did you find any major differences between that country and America?
MonsterBros 1 theres probably big differences in different states
@@monsterbros1882 American. I was a corrections Deputy however I trained at state penitentiaries so I got plenty of an idea of their workings as well lol.
@@shmonn. Yeah, there are, however there are some things that are pretty much universal.
The fact they use "guard" instead of officer show they didn't research every thing.

I'm surprised no one says anything but I think the "ughh" noises the little animation characters make when they react are so funny and cute🤣🤣
I want a show entirely made of their animations and lil character voices. Idc what it would be about. Anything would work.
Yeah you get used to those noises
Also, unfortunately, a lockdown can be PERMANENT! That's what happened to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary (OSP), for instance, after the 1985 prison riot there.
Every infographics show has amazing music. I love this channel
Ha. A lockdown in a lockdown
If you’re smart you would have stocked up on food because lock down can last from a week to a couple of months
Aliens Exist highly unlikely though
Aliens Exist so not eat that day ?
Lockdowns can also be PERMANENT, like what happened at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary (OSP) after the 1985 prison riot there. As for food: during a lockdown, the prison guards hand-deliver food to the prisoners; which means that the prisoners eat inside their cells instead of in the usual mess hall.
That’s a sign officers look for the know of offenders are planning on a riot. They will stock up on canteen food items. (I’m n ex officer)
I'm early. Let me think of a joke.
People who think Prisons don't have lockdowns.
This joke wasn't meant to offend anyone btw. Just a bad joke.

Do more videos on prisons.
Right i want to see myself
The prisoners can take over the prison at any time as they greatly out number the guards. However taking it over is the easy part because nothing after that ever ends well for the inmates.
they could probably take it over with normal officers, usually once the normal guards have been taken over cert comes and start flashbanging inmates and pepper spraying them into submission, or they beat the inmates with batons and shields until they comply
@@i_love_games110 this isn't hypothetical. The most famous case is Attica riot in 1971. The Inmates took control of the prison and held 38 guards hostage for 5 days. It was only resolved when NY State Troopers stormed the prison with helicopters and firearms resulting in 33 inmates and 10 of the hostages dead and hundreds injured.
That’s when all the fun happens 😈
Lol way to go infographics
One day, and I hope soon, people and society will recognize how cruel, corrupted, unfair and destructive that prison system was... Not saying that crime should go unpunished, but humane consequences, where people have a chance to learn, change, and better themselves, seems to me like a much better option than this literal psychological torture...
I can't believe we, as a society, let that happen...
In Connecticut they have a week long lock downs every 6 months just to search the cells. No phones, no visits, no showers, no hot food for 5 to 7 days. And it's not just contraband that they take. Artwork, writings, home made games--whatever you care most about they make it a point to destroy.
How long can lockdowns be? Me: since the 23rd of March til the 4th of July at least
School lockdowns beat prison ones any day. During a school lockdown, the doors to all the classrooms are locked and everyone is sent to the least visible part of the room, the lights are turned off and all the blinds are closed over the windows. Paper is taped over any windows that don’t have blinds or curtains. This is to protect all the students from any potential violent threat and it usually only lasts a few minutes

Right...firstttttt
The reason behind the lockdown determines the type of lockdown we go into. A fight in the dayroom or dangerous contraband will normally lead to the cell block going on 23:59, where the inmates are confined to their cells for 23 hours and 59 minutes, except for showers most of the time. This can also extend to disciplinary lockdowns where everyone on the block is just acting a fool. A continuous problem with drugs may lead to a block shakedown or if it's widespread the entire building or side depending on the layout.
There are medical lockdowns where healthy inmates are confined to the cell except to make phone calls and showers. This will last for the duration of a suggested medical quarantine since the last positive, with COVID its two weeks.
Special lockdowns can be broken into two types. The first and most frequent is because the unit can't clear count or suspicious items were found nearby such as prison uniforms. During this, all inmates return to their cells and we begin a special count. Normally we conduct a roster count and perimeter security is boosted. Once count is cleared, lockdown is lifted. The second type can last hours or days, this tends to be a result of weather or particular events out in the free world such as race-related riots. If really bad weather is expected such as a hurricane, tornadoes, snowstorms ( for Texas), then the facility will go into lockdown for inmate safety and short staffing.
Normal lockdown routines can change from facility to facility, but there is an agency policy that they follow. For TDCJ inmates are to receive a shower and a hot meal at least once every three days. Every facility that I've worked on showers them once a day, although it takes all day showering block by block. During a facility-wide lockdown, we didn't have the manpower to feed hot meals, 30 inmates and 6 kitchen staff could not prepare 1600 hot meals so inmates mostly ate sack meals for weeks.
What’s going on in prison now with corona virus?
How on earth does a prisoner get a padlock?
They'll have a key next! Lol!

How do you have so high quality animations but you get videos out almost daily?
(Legit question)
OH MAN. As someone who has done 4 years : this is ptsd-inducingly accurate
And have done a) 3 month institutional lockdown b) 2 months in segregation
what did you to`serve 4 years
I actually live nearby SCI Greene. I have a hunch as to who did the stabbing.
Well now we’re all on lockdown
Prison staff are not called guards. They are called Correctional Officers and are classified by State and Federal Statutes as Police. Calling them guards is very demeaning.
Well TBF if you're going to "replicate" how it feels to be locked down as they suggested at the end of the video. You're going to have to either...
A.) give up some of that feeling by having one of you go to the kitchen each day to make food.
or
B.) have someone come give you food each day.
Here in the uk we have bangups. (Send all willing prisoners to their cell in a riot, or just like a normal lockdown)
That sounds like a challenge for our favorite writer!! Spend 1 week in the bathroom with someone. 😜
Hmm... we would have to allow the girlfriend out to do her job. However we could stipulate they need to spend a week together soley in a jail like cell. Maybe let infographics provide a studio or something or other (the where can be establiahed later). But the main thing be, the timer doesnt start until both are home. So a weeks worth of time together. Who knows.... it might take a month. And might also help speed up the girlfriend becoming the wife.
Patrick Aycock that's a great idea!!
