Tried this cake yesterday( not frosting). Tips for newbies like me. If you are using lime instead of lemon, dont put 5 tablespoons of lime juice. It will be very sour. Similarly, dont use set curd instead of yougurt, as it becomes watery after whipping, and makes the cake batter too runny. Dependingon water content of yougurt, adjust amount of milk.
I tried this and the cake came out so beautifully. The tanginess of lemon, you can actually taste it. It was so nice. And the cream was so yum, considering it was home-made......My siblings now rely on me to bake something nice for them. Thank you much for the recipe!
Can you please tell the timing and temperature for baking I baked for 30 mins at 180 degrees but wasn't fully done then i kept ot for another 15 mins but the cake is really dense

This is my favourite cake recipe shivesh, I baked it from u blog for so times, only 1 improvement I found was 1/2 cup oil and 1/4 cup butter. To make it little less oily and more crumb
It was too oily for me aa well the first time around I baked it. I just made another one and put it in my oven with less oil. Also, how long did you bake yours? Because mine is not done in 25 minutes in my OTG. I can’t seem to find the perfect time.
@@catherineanichar6957 True,even in my oven it takes around 35-40 mins at 180 degree. If temp is increased, top cracks and results in doughy, cake. Also adjust sugar as per ur liking like if lemons r sweet then little less sugar will also suffice

Hi shivesh, I tried this recipe twice. I didn't get it well. The cake is moist. Doesn't come well. I used hatsun curd (packed in a box). It was thicker enough. Instead of castor sugar, I powdered the normal sugar and took the same proportion you used. Kindly advice what else can be the problem.

Hi Rajesh, I am not an expert, but once made lemon cake with a lemon and sugar glaze. For us it tasted good.... Except a colleague who had a classic comment when he ate the cake. He said, " Reema Vim bar bana ke laayi hai !! "🤣🤣 Yet he ate 2-3 slices 😊 Here's what I did once the cake was baked and out: Let the cake cool for about 15 minutes in the pan. Stir together the lemon juice and confectioners’ sugar for the lemon syrup. Carefully invert the loaf pan, and transfer the cake to a cooling rack, then brush the syrup on the cake while it’s still warm. Allow cake to cool completely. When the cake is cooled, combine all the icing ingredients, start with 1 tbsp lemon juice and milk and add the remaining lemon juice as needed. The icing should be thick and not runny. Pour icing over cake and let dry before serving. FOR THE LEMON SYRUP: 1/4 cup lemon juice, about 1 lemon 3 Tbsp powdered sugar FOR THE LEMON ICING: 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted 1.5 Tbsp lemon juice 1 Tbsp milk Hope this helps 😊
If u want a simple frosting u can also do simple glaze icing which also goes on top of your glazed donuts . It goes very well as when u make a Bundt cake they usually put the same icing on top . It’s basically sugar and milk or cream if u want it a little thick and as it’s a lemon cake a little bit of lemon juice will be perfect :) . Hope it helped you

Can you check the measurements, I made this cake 3 times and followed the recipe to a T and every time the cake never cooked fully, outside darkened too much when being in for more that 30mins and deflated almost immediately.
Yes, I agree. I tried baking it yesterday and despite cooking for 45 mins it still remained partially raw inside so I had to throw it all away. Don’t understand what I did wrong 🤷🏻♀️

Hi. Tried this recipe with sugar free first. Didn’t work out. So replaced it with castor sugar as you’ve shown in this video. Problem remained the same. The cake was not porous enough, it was dense in some places. Doesn’t have that light, spongy feel which a lemon cake is supposed to have. The flavour was amazing though, full marks there. Also, the cake flattened a bit. Its not that I added less or old baking powder and didn’t work the gluten too much too, still. Will it come about better with eggs? Can you suggest an alternative, this cake definitely needs a better texture.

I feel there is something wrong with the quantity of dry ingredients like the flour mentioned is 180 gms and curd is 285 gms. Hi Sheetal, I made this cake 4 to 5 times or more everyone liked the flavor. Ingredients are all ok because my one came out very well.. Just follow his intruction's . I baked it in Microwave.

In your ingredients list. You listed 1 and 1/2 cup of maida .i.e 180g and castor sugar measurements with respect to cup is also same. But in grams it is 300g. Can you please tell what should be the ratio of maida:sugar:oil if in case I am preparing for a smaller/bigger batch??

My cake suddenly rose up and then collapsed. I am using the same oven as yours. This has happened for the second time but i am so obsessed by this recipe that i will definitely try this again. The temperature i baked at was 180 in the morphy richards oven. I don’t know why this happening 🥺

Can you please share the recipe for the Lemon glaze?
Mix well 1/2 cup icing sugar and 2-3 tsp lemon juice. Then add half a cup fresh cream. Mix everything nicely and pour on cake.

I feel there is something wrong with the quantity of dry ingredients like the flour mentioned is 180 gms and curd is 285 gms.
My mixture is turning out to be runny as compared to what is being shown in the video.
I did write to bhavesh but he hasn’t responded yet.

I made this cake 4 to 5 times or more everyone liked the flavor. Ingredients are all ok because my one came out very well.. Just follow his intruction's .

I just love ur channel, my only suggestion if u can consider, pls post replies to queries too, coz sometimes the recipe does not turn out as it should even when followed to the T . We should surely love the inputs of an expert baker such as yourself. I also tried this cake, but it was too moist and needed 45 min almost

In your ingredients list. You listed 1 and 1/2 cup of maida .i.e 180g and castor sugar measurements with respect to cup is also same. But in grams it is 300g. Can you please tell what should be the ratio of maida:sugar:oil if in case I am preparing for a smaller/bigger batch??
