Watched your video and followed your recommendation. Went with the chair plus baby set (no tray or cushion) so Baby could eat at the table with us. The first day we put Baby in the Tripp Trapp and Baby gave us the biggest smile!! Baby was so happy to sit at the table with us at eye level. That alone was worth every single penny!
When my children were born almost 30 years ago I wished I had this high chair. I had another chair which was gifted by the grandparents so I had to use that. I'm happy that it still exists and is recommended. The chair itself hasn't changed. It only has a few more extras. In my country (germany) it is well known for so many years and I wonder if it is the same in other countries.
We have one, got it when our LO was 3 months because the newborn seat meant she could watch us in the kitchen. We didn't get it with the tray so she could eat at the table with us. Although the chair is pricey it is extremely useful as it grows with them. Only negative is how heavy it is, you can't move around the house easily but we love it.

How is your experience so far with the chair? I’m looking to buy it for my little one as I want him to have the best experience with first time foods and the posture really matters! Has it been good?
We found one second hand and can't wait to start using it! The only downside seems to be that our table is a little too high for our baby to reach, so we may need to buy the tray for an eye-watering 60 euros.
Hi @Maria Daniels I agree it is very expensive. I have found cheaper highchairs similar to the Tripp Trapp (slat seats that have multiple adjustments) but I do find the tripp Trapp baby seat insert the best one in regards to support and comfort for the babies when sitting in the highchair.
A more affordable duplicate of this is the Kinderkraft Livy with Calmee attachment. It’s got all the same stuff, looks more modern and it’s cheaper. Even cheaper if you get it without the Calmee attachment. But it’s worth it if you have a smaller baby, I personally chose it because it can become a bouncer

Love this video and we love our Stokke Tripp Trapp! However, we need to go to stay at a friend's house for the weekend in a couple of weeks and we need a portable high chair as they have no high chair there. It would ideally be good to have one that could be used both attached or not attached to a normal adult dining chair, but we could make it work if it only had one of those functions. I personally have the complete set of Stokke Tripp Trapp and i love it sooo much! My little one loves it too and enjoys being in that chair so much. When we travel via road, we normally bring our portable Bumbo MultiSeat chair for her that can cater to wide age range (please do not get the Bumbo Floor one as it does not have proper support for babies).
Hi Emma love your video..could you please talk about Mocka Original/ Soho highchair as an alternative of Stokke? Do you think they have the same benefits? Can we fit the Stokke seat set in Mocka? Thank you
If you’re feeding a toddler at a table, what do you put their food on so that they don’t dump it all and make a huge mess? I’m fine with messy eating to a point, but it just seems like it would be so chaotic. My 1 year old eats in a high chair with the food directly on the tray, which has been working, but he’s clearly uncomfortable sitting in it for too long. I definitely don’t want to put the food directly on the table. Do you have suggestions? I’ve found so many recommendations for the Tripp Trapp, but nobody seems to show their kids actually eating in it at the table, especially really little ones.
We have this chair and love it. We have another little one coming and I am wondering if it’s worth buying the newborn baby set? We tend to have taller babies and I am concerned about feet sticking out. Do you have a video or recommendations for a safe and ergonomic baby swing, bouncer, rocker, or floor loungers?
We got the Tripp trap when our baby was around 3 months and got the newborn and high chair set second hand from a friend. The newborn insert was great, he loved sitting in it and watching us cook dinner, and joining us at the table while we ate. Changed to the high chair add on when he started solids and we miss the newborn insert for him to watch us in the kitchen (it’s too tiring for him to be in the high chair for that long). His legs did hang out of the newborn set but he seemed happy and comfortable. Look for a second hand newborn set, there are plenty around!
Any insight on knock off versions? Albie? Safety first timba? Cc something or other? I heard you say in a related video that you bought a less expensive version for your second child but you didn't mention which🤔 thanks in advance
I saw someone liked my comment. Wanted to add that we went with the keekaroo in case it helps anyone make a choice:) we got it with the infant insert at 20% off from buy it baby and we couldn't be happier with it! Little man is 5 months not quite sitting up independently but he sits up nice and straight( and secure)in the keekaroo:))
Hi ! Thank you for this video, we bought the chair today’s for our 6 month, we are really happy about it. We purchased the tray too. Do you thing it is necessary to get a harness too ?
Hi Emma, what do you think about the other Stokke high chairs - is the Tripp Trapp the only one you recommend? What are your thoughts on the Stokke Clikk high chair and the Stokke Steps high char? Thanks in advance! Love your channel - thank you so much for your insightful videos.
Hi Wendy, from a quick look on google I would say the Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair is the best option. Both the Clikk High Chair and the Steps High Chair has a fixed seat depth. Where as the Tripp Trapp has the ability to change the seat depth which means it can accommodate a 6 month old baby well. The Clikk High Chair also has only 2 different heights for the footrest support. It's important to have a high chair which has lots of adjustability re: the footrest height. That is why I would say the Tripp Trapp is the better chair because it is more adjustable in seat depth, seat height and foot rest height. Hope that helps!
@@EmmaHubbard Yes this is extremely helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to look into them. I really appreciate your feedback and for responding back so quickly! Have an amazing week!
Another great video! What is your opinion on feeding tables in lieu of high chairs? High chairs in my country of residence are not good quality or not safe. The Tripp Trapp is not sold here, although bespoke carpenters will happily make a replica.
I think it needs to be mentioned in reviews that the buckles & straps of this baby harness are not up to the quality of the rest of the chair. For the high pricetag, they are fiddly, extreemly difficult to adjust as your baby grows and have no compression style buckles to allow for snugging it up as you would see in baby carriers, pram seats and most any other harness. In fact, you can't adjust these with your little one wriggling in the chair at all so getting it right initially is a painful trail and error of in/out adjustments.
Hi Alisa, the trip trap has more adjustability compared to the steps chair. In the trip trap you can change the seat depth as well which isn't something you can do with the steps chair.
Great video, thank you! Just wondering if you recommend getting the matching cushion? I saw you had a towel, is that acceptable too? FTM here, appreciate your help!
Hi @Hanooonah great question. Nope I was not contacted by them or sponsored to do this video. I just really like this chair. I still use it with my 4 year old and expect to continue to be using it for many years to come. 😊
Hello Emma, I have just bought the Tripp Trapp chair based on your recommendation. The manual says the baby set should be only used once the child can sit on his own. My soon-to-be-six-month-old baby cannot sit unaided just yet. I had the impression this chair is a great choice for little ones who cannot sit on their own yet but now I am confused (maybe I have heard it in the shop where I purchased it). Can I put my baby to the baby set for short periods of time before he learns to sit? I was planning to introduce solids next week. Thank you for your help!
Hi @killedthedjtwice I just saw this message and know you are probably well into introducing solids to your little one. I hope you realised you could put your baby in the baby set for short periods of time before he learns to sit. He may just need to have some rolled up towels at his side until he learns to sit independently.
@@EmmaHubbard thank you very much. We have tried a few times (with towels indeed). They were designed by the same man the Tripp Trapp was designed for his children and the Nomi for his grandkids. I couldn’t see much difference other than design
Hi Emma, I would love to buy this high chair but it's really very expensive for us to get. Please can you suggest an exact alternative to this high chair on a budget or best budget high chairs. It would be really helpful for us. 😊Thanks
Hi, here in Norway it's quite common to buy things second hand. We bought ours used for fraction of the price of a brand new one. Look around maybe there's someone selling one around you. They are of great quality!
I also bought almost everything, including our Stokke Tripp Trapp, second hand. you really don't need to get a new one. My parents still have the TrippTrapp I sat on as a baby for when the grandkids visit. It is 30+ years old and still in great condition. Alternatives on a Budget: Hauck Alpha or Mocka high chair are very similar

We bought Kinderkraft Enock about a month ago for 6mo old baby (after I watched this video), looks like it's almost the same, but costs under 100USD here in Europe. And our baby loves it, no problems with feeding and play time 🥳 Thank you for a lot of useful advice!
From the looks of it stokke steps chair with the baby set has less adjustability of the seat length (just two). The footrest slots are further apart than then Tripp Trapp so less adjustability there. The weight limit is slightly less 84kg compared to $110kg. Also once you remove the baby set on the Stokke Chair there is no adjustment in seat depth (from the photos you will need to put a cushion behind a toddler and child’s back for a few years before their thighs will be long enough that they can rest their back in the backrest). I do like that you don’t need any tools to adjust this chair though.
@@jennydkt From what I saw from the images on the web when looking up this chair I would say the Tripp Trapp is the better chair for a baby, toddler and child.
Hey Emma thanks for this! We have this chair and I am a bit unsure how to adjust it for my six month old. Her feet hit the footrest at a 90deg. Angle but somehow she wiggles her body/tries to stand a lot when she's in the seat. Kind of moving her pelvis forward while trying to stand. Could this be an issue with position?!
Hi @habima2000 it is hard to say exactly why your little one is trying to stand up when she is in this seat. Without seeing your little one, I would guess the seat depth might need adjusting. So you need to check if when she is sitting on this chair her knees are at 90 degrees and also make sure the edge of the seat is not cutting into the back of her knees. If the seat is cutting into the back of her legs you need to adjust the depth to make it shorter. I would also check to make sure the seat height is correct. If the seat height is incorrect it could be encouraging your little one to stand up to see the food. So when your little one is sitting at the table or has the tray attached do her arms rest comfortable at her side so that when they rest on the tray/table her elbows are at 90 degrees? If her arms do not rest at her side then you need to lower the seat height. Hope that helps!
We don’t have the Nomi in Australia but it was designed by the same man who designed the Tripp Trapp. The only difference I could see was the shape/design
Hi @Maria Daniels yep I would just purchase the chair and the baby set and sit them straight at the table. I find it easier for cleaning up and better for modelling of how to eat food. Also one less item to store when your toddler is sitting at the table in the Tripp Trapp
@Angela Fonseca personally i don't think the tray is necessary. I prefer to have the baby sitting at the dining table with the family for social modelling on how to eat food.
Hi, have you seen the KMart 'dupe' for this high chair? It seems pretty similar, but only $145 AUD. Also Nannie-Annie have "tikktokk" hair chair that looks the same on sale for $130. Would you recommend these as good alternatives? I was wanting to get the tripp trapp but it's a bit out of budget so trying to find the best alternative. Thanks
Hi @thatssochic1 I haven't seen a teenager use a high chair either! 😂 In the video I say that a teenager will use some form of adaptive seating (sorry for the confusion as I wasn't referring to a high chair). Standard dining tables are simply too tall for most teenagers, When you see a teenager sitting in a dining chair you will see the child perch on the seat or wrap their legs around the seat legs or kneel on the seat or move around constantly. This is because when they sit on the dining chair with their bottom at the back of the chair their feet do not touch the ground, the dining table is too high (arms are not resting with elbows at 90 degrees which makes it difficult to use cutlery or complete written homework) and the back of the chair is cutting into the back of their knees which causes pins and needles. If the child does not have a tripp trapp then I usually I need to provide a footrest (box) and potentially high density foam on the seat. After these changes are made the teenagers can sit at the table without moving and they find it easier to use their hands to hold cutlery and write. Hope that makes it a bit clearer!
@@EmmaHubbard I know exactly what you mean and so glad that there are people who know teenagers need adjustment as well. I'm short and always found it uncomfortable for my feet to dangle or the heel of my foot not being flat. Table and seat being at the right height made me feel more confident and focused

Hi Emma, how would you compare the mocka highchair with the stokke?
Would love to see this also????
@@EmmaHubbard thanks so much for this thorough response! I will check again
How about nomi? Is it consider a good high chair for baby?
We don’t have the Nomi in Australia but it was designed by the same man who designed the Tripp Trapp. The only difference I could see was the shape/design
Are you recommending against purchasing the tray that can be purchased additionally and just having the baby eat at a regular table?
Hi @Maria Daniels yep I would just purchase the chair and the baby set and sit them straight at the table. I find it easier for cleaning up and better for modelling of how to eat food. Also one less item to store when your toddler is sitting at the table in the Tripp Trapp
When do you think a baby can start to sit on tripp Trapp without a baby set?
Is high chair really required.. What if we don't get it
Then you hold your baby in your arms while it sits and farts on you while you eat. Duh
@@mcmc2386 I'm laughing 😂😂😂
I would get this but I have a tall dining table😢
Same here. What did you end up getting?
Do you think the optional tray you can purchase for it is unnecessary? Or does it depend on your dining table at home?
@Angela Fonseca personally i don't think the tray is necessary. I prefer to have the baby sitting at the dining table with the family for social modelling on how to eat food.
Hi, have you seen the KMart 'dupe' for this high chair? It seems pretty similar, but only $145 AUD. Also Nannie-Annie have "tikktokk" hair chair that looks the same on sale for $130. Would you recommend these as good alternatives? I was wanting to get the tripp trapp but it's a bit out of budget so trying to find the best alternative. Thanks
I was thinking the same. Would love to know compared
Never seen a teenager use a high chair so that’s a bit of an exaggeration
Hi @thatssochic1
I haven't seen a teenager use a high chair either! 😂
In the video I say that a teenager will use some form of adaptive seating (sorry for the confusion as I wasn't referring to a high chair).
