  • What is the best high chair for baby-led weaning? The most popular high chairs are not necessarily the safest and in this video I’m doing a high chair review of the 2 high chairs I think represent the safest seats for your baby to eat.
    You can always DIY your own high chair to make a footrest so your baby’s feet rest flat which can reduce the risk of choking. But if you’re in the market for buying a new (or used) high chair, look for one that has an adjustable footplate and seat that grows with your baby.

    00:00 What's the Best High Chair for Baby-Led Weaning?
    TRIPP TRAPP
    The pros of the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair:
    • Small footprint - a high chair that does not take up your whole kitchen or dining room!
    • Can find used at lower cost - has been around since 1972 and they hold up well for resale
    The cons of the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair:
    • Straps hard to remove - depending on age of your chair, can be a bear to get off
    • Need tools to adjust the seat and footplate height - doable, just annoying and takes time
    00:35 Tripp Trapp: Why isn't there a tray?
    00:55 Tripp Trapp: Adjustable seat and footplate height
    01:27 Tripp Trapp con: Need tools to adjust seat and footplate
    01:41 Tripp Trapp pro: Older chair so available used online
    01:57 Tripp Trapp: Converts from high chair to toddler chair
    02:14 Tripp Trapp: Removing the high chair straps
    NOMI HIGH CHAIR
    The pros of the Nomi high chair:
    • No tools required for adjusting seat and footplate height - innovative knob design
    • Lightweight and super easy to clean - rest on table, take outside easily
    The cons of the Nomi high chair:
    • Has a larger footprint than the Tripp Trapp - casters come off when convert to toddler chair
    • Newer chair so not as many used ones on the market and it can be pricey
    03:12 Nomi pro: Don't need tools to adjust seat and footplate
    03:27 Nomi: knob design for fluid not incremental growth
    03:45 Nomi con: Larger footprint than the Tripp Trapp
    03:58 Nomi: Easy to clean chair and under chair

    We have the Nomi. Absolutely LOVE it. Easy to clean, easy to adjust, looks great and my son just turned 1 and loves sitting at the table with us while we eat all our meals as a family! He will sit comfortably for 45 minutes and eats with us! It’s worth the investment (we got it as an open box so it was discounted!)

      Oh the open box discount is such a good tip! It really is a great chair, thank you for sharing 💕

    Nomi is a beautiful modern chair, trip trapp is no less attractive. I am interested in the stability of the Nomi chair? most of it is made of plastic. While the trip trap is made entirely of wood, and we know that wood is more durable than plastic. Looking at the long term

    We always had this at home. I think most Norwegians had this in the 80-ies and 90-ies. We had never seen any other chairs, I think. They are still populare here.

    What do you think of the Stokke Steps highchair?

  • @BeautifullyLiving00
    @BeautifullyLiving00 Год назад

    Just took a course about highchairs and one important requirement was the back rest. It has to be tall enough to support the head of the baby. I don't see that requirement being met by these two chairs. What are your thoughts about this?

    • @babyledweaning
      @babyledweaning  Год назад +8

      Thank you for your question! The recommendation of a tall back rest that supports the head is if your baby does not have the head and neck strength needed. However by the time you start solids, your baby should have the core and neck strength that would not make the head support necessary because those muscles also facilitate a safe swallow 😊

      Haven’t tried it yet. I reached out to them to test it but never heard back. If you have this chair and have thoughts I would love to hear!

    What's your opinion on the Steps Highchair?

    • @babyledweaning
      @babyledweaning  Год назад

      I haven't used it but if your baby's feet can reach the adjustable footrest on it, great. If it doesn't have an adjustable footrest and you can DIY one that works, that's great too!
