The most wonderful thing about this video is the mic control. Mics are unforgiving. Too much air or a heavy plosive, the mic will pick it up and sound like a thud. When he does that extra push on the word wish, you can see him pulling the mic back about 3 inches to keep from popping on the mic. Just a quick jolt, then right back in front of him.
they got their name in highschool by literally just opening up a dictionary and blindly put their finger on a word. That's the legend told by the bandmembers anyway.
I always loved this band made up of nu metal surfers. Led by the exuberant voice of Brandon, who mixed many interesting rhythms with the addition of a DJ who was innovative at the time along with Limp Bizkit used that resource. This brings me nostalgia for my high school days. I loved that time...🥲
I used that "the ocean looks like a thousand diamonds strewn across a blue blanket" in my high school English essay, good thing Scottish schools didn't do plagiarism tests at that point!
When asked for a short fictional story, I basically copied the Tale of Durin's Folk from JRR Tolkien. Luckily Philippine schools also do not check for plagiarism.
@@Joe-b2n it's not, it's an original song with the same title as the one written by Roger Waters and co for Pink Floyd. Totally different lyrics and feelings, the only thing the same between the two is the title.
I will always be here for more Incubus. So glad to see so many reactors jumping on and giving them a bit of a renaissance this year. Do more Incubus and keep up the great content!
This song is one of my all time favorite feel good songs. The sentiment of wishing to share a private moment of tranquility with someone on your mind is just so uplifting.
I'm glad you had us look up the definition of the band name for ourselves. ech ! But I like tis song very much. What I like about the contrast of verse and chorus--is that even when the guitars are banging you can still understand what he is singing. I hate lyrics lost in the noise. Also I learned something from you--interesting---instead of 'here' which cuts itself off in your mouth--you noticed more of a 'hair' sound and you're right--it can be sung louder and linger for a few extra measures. Thank you. That's knowledge I can use.
Hello! Beth Roars. I follow your channel and I really love your reactions. I saw that you did several reactions with Brazilian singers, but you haven't done it with Tim Maia yet. You'll love his voice and his backing vocals. The recommended songs are: "you"; She left. Thank you very much
Incubus deserves so much !!! Each song is so distinctive ! Aqueous transmission is one of my favourites and there is nothing like it . I hope people know more about this band , cause it feels like moisture for the heart ☺️😌
This is such a nostalgic band for me, my brother (six years my senior) has always been a fan of theirs and was in a band and constantly singing himself. I've got such great memories of chilling with him and singing harmonies together to the music he loves and got me into. Always warm and fuzzy listening to Incubus! ☺
Yes, I feel he does not get enough credit. He doesn't look like he's struggling at all, and it adds just the right amount of extra seasoning that doesn't get drowned out by the instruments. Plus, playing an instrument while singing is hard to do at even a very basic level.
I dont understand how the audience can be so sttic wit such an amzing song and amazing performance. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII wish I was theeereee.
Boyd was set to play in a revival of Jesus Christ Superstar but...and Succubus...Guitarist and background singer Mike Einziger is a Harvard grad and co-author of scientific paper with a Brown evolutionary biologist. Great live performance by Incubus of Pardom Me at the Espys..
I hope that one day soon you could breakdown and react to the late Phyllis Hyman,,,,songs like "Living All Alone" "Old Friend" "Living in Confusion" or "I Refuse to be Lonely"
I honestly always felt like Brandon was both angry and extremely grateful the entire time recording Morning View. All because of a relationship that ended. I think it all kind of hit him at once and this song really encapsulates how he dealt with the roller coaster of emotions at that time. Love Incubus. They have aged well together.
I want you to analyze John Popper of Blues Traveler, he's the only other vocalist I can think of that has a similar style to Brandon, both have such unique style I find amazing
Beth! I love your videos. You should do a reaction video to the NPR Tiny Desk concert by 311, or at least one song from it. I think it's an interesting voice as well, similar to Incubus.
They literally didn't even know what an Incubus was when they named the band lol But it sounds cool. Not some demonic creature that has sex with women while they sleep haha. As someone who has been a fan for a long time and has seen them live twice, I just associate it with a type of sound that takes control of your mind and puts you in a trance.
Male equivalent of a Succubus. Succubus and Incubus were also used to refer to nightmare. In very prudish times sex dreams would probably be considered very sinful and "horrible". Also the mare part of nightmare was a creature in folklore that would haunt men in their dreams. Either riding them or sitting on their chests so they can't breathe. The latter probably inspired by sleep paralysis where you are awake but still dreaming and unable to move. Unable to manually control your breathing can feel like suffocating and still dreaming it's quite common to see people standing over you
well done... i didnt know the meaning of 'Incubus'... until now... and now the magic is ruined... may the power of christ compel us all... 😂 (edit) i love their 'a certain shade of green'
Thanks for a great reaction Beth. Lots of nostalgia here having grown up with this band. I still have "Drive" on my playlist to listen to from time to time. I'll also be lucky enough to see them in concert in April next year when they headline a concert with Live here in Australia.
I saw them recently in Tennessee and was very disappointed in Brandon’s voice now. His vocals sounded very bad. The band made up for it as they sounded amazing. I don’t know what has happened to his voice.
Did it sound thin and cut out? It happens to a lot of these rock vocalist after time especially if they don't take care of their instrument. Chris Cornells voice was like towards the end.
Nice to see you again Beth! Are you getting suppressed by RUclips? A video of yours just popped up and I thought “oh, I haven’t seen a reaction from her in awhile. I look at your page and see you have stayed active. I wonder why I haven’t been seeing you pop in in suggestions

Wasnt it the first word that had a definition with sex in it?
@@thedappermagician6905 i didnt hear that version of the story but i mean they were in high school so it wouldn't surprise me.

Don't worry this is a cover lol.

Es por eso que es mi canción favorita. Me encanta ❤

Seen them live a couple times. His pitch control is just too good.
More Tool please. 😘
