Legitimately in my opinion I believe if they can't manage to fit a larger battery inside these flip devices, that they should go with a processor that draws less power. The fact is that many people and especially the target audience for a device like this, aren't going to see a huge performance difference between a Snapdragon 888 and a Snapdragon 778. The gains in battery though would be hugely noticeable.
Or they should produce two different types of Flip phones. one with top of the range Snapdragon and the cheaper one with 778+ ( like the one in the newly launched Motorola Edge 30 ). For most people we don't need the fastest processor. We need a phone with a reasonably fast chip like the 778, good battery and good signal reception
The battery is small but since it's split into 2 parts so it actually takes half the charge for each battery making charging a lot less degrading for the battery
Or, and hear me out on this one. You simply have a charger with you. The idea that you don't have a charging cord, external battery, or a charging pad/stand near you at work, in your car, or at home is simply unthinkable.
i just got my z flip 3 yesterday and after messing with a few settings and optimizing my battery, it lasted me 12 hours before it reached 15%. when you take the time to do that stuff and take care of your battery, the battery can last you a decent amount of time without needing a full charge
I agree somewhat - I don't like the thought of having to lose functionality as a trade off for longer battery life (Brightness, always on screen, higher hz, bluetooth always on etc) when I already have to do some of these things on the S22 ultra. But I do really like the look of this phone, and if I had an office job that could facilitate me charging at any moment during the day I would have jumped on one. S22 Ultra for the next 2 years, and hoping flip battery tech is improved by next upgrade time. Enjoy your device :)
@@X7880-t3n i will preface this by saying that im not a power heavy user, my max screen on time is about 3 hours and i dont care to use the phone at max settings all the time. i turned off the 120hz refresh rate, i use the optimize option under the battery settings as often as possible, i dont keep apps open after im done using them, i dont use my phone while its charging and i dont let it charge overnight, and i dont have the brightness all the way up all the time. i do have video and gif lockscreens cover screens and call backgrounds which drains the battery too so if you want the maximum amount of battery use regular pictures
Ive had my Z flip 3 about 6 month now, and yes while at first baterylife was amazing, like i went on a weeklong trip and only charged it like twice, but after using it so long the battery honaslty only lasts me about 6 hours before i have to plug it in. (I use my phone periodicly throughout the day though)
I've had this phone for 8 months now. I had all iPhone for the last 8 years, but wanted to flip because I'd grown sick of how massive phones are now and wanted something that fit in my pocket without bothering me. It's been fantastic for that. The 2 massive hangups I have are the battery and the how hot the phone gets when you use it for as a hot spot or play games. I'm surprised he doesn't mention that. I have to leave it on low battery mode to get through the day and I avoid playing games so that it doesn't feel like my phone will burst into flames lol. I still like it, but I am considering going back to apple just for battery life.
I'm in a similar position. I despise Apple products but I might be forced to buy one simply because android refuse to offer a smaller phone with acceptable battery life
I used to have the Flip 3, before upgrading to the S22 Ultra and I gotta say, I was impressed with the quality of this phone. Specially sound, screen, camara and design. Very solid phone. Not fragile at all.
I was an apple fan boy from the original iPhone up until the original ZFlip. I almost got the Razr. I upgraded to the Flip3 and have been quite happy. I totally agree with you on the side finger print sensor. All phones should have it. Had high hopes for the Flip4 but it looks like it will be a minor upgrade to bring the price down. Thanks for your updated review long after the initial splash. I've never used a case and mine is pristine. Too beautiful and strong to cover. Keep it slim.
@@A.U.S.S.I.E same as well, hesitant at first because of the screen crease cracking but I noticed it was more of a first gen issue, excited for the launch of the flip 4!
@@downo I actually did purchase the S22Ultra when it came out but use the Flip3 as my preferred phone at work because it is compact and still just so god damned fun. I don't get much phone time at work. I agree the S22Ultra is a phone beast but the Flip3 is beautiful tech gadget. Thanks for respondinding.
I just had mine a few days ago. My only issue about this phone is the battery. It seems that it can't last a day even just for social media use. I love everything about it except for the battery. The size is perfect, the finger print sensor. It's a great phone.
I felt the same so i sold mine and bought s21+ instead. Been using s21+ for over half a year now very happy and it also made me realise my top requirement for a phone is the battery and i also lov fingerprint underscreen with the s21+
I posted this comment elsewhere but thought it would be relevant here too. I was always concerned about the screen. My Z Flip 3 screen didn't crack or dent, but the layers (protector, ultrathin glass) started separating near the right hand side of the hinge. Samsung repaired it under its manufacturers warranty, free of charge. Phone is as a good as new. Their after care is pretty good. I do think that durability needs improving on the next iteration, but Samsung are really trying to keep their Flip and Fold customers happy, so this "gimmick" can one day become the norm. Sure the technology is new, but I still remember when a mobile (cell) phone used to be the size and weight of a small brick, with about 30 minutes of battery life. Tech revolutions have to start somewhere and I'm glad to be an early adopter and ambassador for this new tech.
Have had the fold 3 for about 3 months. Sell phones for a living, on my phone a lot at work. Usually have about 40% at the end of my shift, charge it on my way home and am good for the rest of the day. Not optimal, but totally worth it to be able to show customers pricing on a reasonable sized screen.
I used to work at an Amazon warehouse over nights, 10 hours shifts, and trust me, i never ran out of battery using spotify all night long!! Either using wifi or just mobile data. I've had my zflip 3 since day one and no problems at all! Is my favorite phone ever! I even personalize it with tribals just like my old gameboy advance sp.
Yeah battery is average compared to other 2022 phones, but if someone is upgrading from an old iPhone or old galaxy device they would be pretty impressed. 👌
@@_Ace._ i know what you mean, i still have my galaxy S21 and i know the difference between batteries. What i try to say with the flip3 is that the battery life is not such a big deal, we all charge our phones while sleeping, you'll never run out of battery during normal use all day long.
@@ygwaltgmb not always, Ive seen plenty of devices in recent years with barely any significant changes for the sake of just releasing "newer" gadget to boost sales.
I just changed from my Zflip 3 to a s22 Ultra. Because the battery life was bothering me a bit. But I still love the phone and am keeping it as a secondary one
God I've had my eyes glued on this baby since I heard of the first flip. Heck, since the fold!! This is what I've been wanting, but for phones I use mine all the time so I'm really wanting to get informed so I really appreciate this longer term perspective from someone who really wants to like it long term
I just got the flip 3 for myself. And the fold 3 for my son. Both are great for each of us. I think I'm happier with the flip than the fold personally. Just one perspective
I absolutely love my Z Flip 3. My dream is to have it with a longer battery life (if even by a little). But I love it so much that I make do by charging it more throughout the day. My Note 20 Ultra battery would last days for me...didn't realize how great that was until now 😅
honestly, i think if the battery was significantly improved, more people would get them. I honestly want to get one for myself, but because of the battery concern, and that i really enjoy the pen in my note 20, i don't feel the strong desire to get one right now.
Already 9 months!!! I preordered mine, so I have the same time of experience. I agree in most aspects, the battery life is decent, that made me carrying a powerbank, just in case. In my opinion the cameras could be better, particularly in low light conditions, there's a significant difference between the flip 3 and the s 22 ultra.
@M.hamza Alzein I wanted to switch to the flip 4 mostly because of the invmcreased battery life. The delivery failed and after six Werkstatt of Diskussions with DHL and Samsung Support the contact was cancelled and at least I got my money back. Because of a very attractive trading offer I switched to the s22 and I am now looking what the Flip 5 may bring to the table. My problem with the Flip after 12 months was the screen cover which got loose at the hinge. I renewed it, which was easier as I thought but this is definitely an issue.
Ive had my Zflip 3 for a couple months as well and I love it! I would say, I really wish the battery life was better because its always so low and yes you can optimize it but its like, why have a great screen with an awesome refresh rate just to lower it. Thats like getting a ps5 to play ps3 games. I love the portability and one thing you didnt show off here was the fact that you can use the camera from the from without opening your phone or you can keep it bent so it stands up on its own and take a timing photo. Its honestly one of my favorite phones.
I'm a zflip3 user for 6 months, and I must say, it's totally worth it. Now you are watching this video and still having 2nd thoughts, don't! haha unless if battery life is a deal breaker for you
I had my Z Flip 3 since launch day as my secondary device and i love it.Still looks brand new.I think they didn't expect the battery to be this bad,but we should thank that to the inefficiency of Snapdragon.A few years back i had a Exynos Note 8 with the same battery capacity, and that phone had a bigger screen and it was also QHD instead of FHD and the battery was better on that phone.I honestly hope the Flip 4 will also have Exynos versions,i don't care about gaming and they make less heat than SD
@@greensabr200 Don’t care what synthetic benchmarks and scores say. I can’t really speak for the S22 series cause i haven’t used them. But the 888 in my Flip 3 is worse than what my Exynos Note 10+ and Note 8 were. This is just personal preference and experience still. I still prefer Exynos when it comes to Samsung phones because i had better experience with them personally.
@@_Ace._ Yeah, back when the S6,S7,S8 were the new ones people would complain about them lagging after a few months and most of them were from regions where they sold the Snapdragon versions. I had all of those phones too and also had relatives that had the same Exynos as me and they never complained. I think overtime they optimize the Exynos phones via updates and they also seem to push out updates faster than SD variants. Also unlocked bootloaders vs locked ones on SD so clearly Samsung doesn’t care that much for the SD variants. Most people probably call them weak because they game worse than SD,but that is due to game optimization.
I've been using my Z flip 3 for a little over a year now, and the only issue I have had is with the factory screen protector. It's started to crack along the seam. I ordered a two pack of replacement protectors, and then I'll be good for another year. That way I'll get the Z Flip 5 when it comes out.
I've had my z flip 3 since the end of September 2021. Used it for that year with OEM screen protector but have since removed it since January 2022. The screen is amazing without a screen protector but downside is that it's prone to micro scratches very easily. Not only that, I have scratches in the crease as well so sometimes they can be disruptive and an eye sore but overall not a deal breaker IMO. I have used this phone as my main and I'm treating it just like any other phone I've had, no babying it. I have had ZERO TECHNICAL ISSUES 😁 great phone overall, Samsung did NOT disappoint in the build quality department. 👏
I've had mine for 8 months and its such a game changer! I will not get any other phone now. Absolutely hooked! I ended up buying a Spigen Tough Armor case and it feels even more protected. Even dropped it a few times and it's held up. My ONLY negative comment on it is that over time and use, the middle crease of my screen protector (protector, NOT the screen) is starting to crack. I feel this is an easy fix, and I do have a subscription to get free repairs with my carrier so I'm hoping they'll be able to replace the screen protector, as it is a unique type since it's bendable. I can still see through it alright bit it's noticeable when I run my finger over it. My battery life seems to be just fine for me, I'm not on it 24/7, and when I am, like if I'm gaming, I'm next to a charger 🤷♀️ My camera on the front has been super convenient when I'm recording myself because I can just fold my phone, turn on the front camera so I can see myself in "selfie mode" through the front screen and I can easily record. Highly recommend!
I've had this phone for about 8 months as well. I'm also having the same issue as you with the screen protector cracking where it folds. Have you gotten it replaced? I was thinking about removing it.
@@Banguhrang07 yes I just removed it and turns out it's not a legit screen protector, it protects it, but it's only meant to be a temporary one. My real screen protector is coming in Tuesday.
My new screen protector I bought comes in a pack of 2 and it's definitely better than the default one that came on it. So much smoother and clearer (if you apply it correctly)
I just got mine yesterday! I immediately changed a lot of my settings to save more battery and it lasted more than 12 hours. I'll be buying more accessories for it to make it look more cute. I hope for it to last long cause it's small and very fashionable ❤️
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH OF A RELIEF THIS COMMENT IS TO ME! I've been dying to get my hands on this phone but have been having hesitations solely on the battery and to know that there are some worthwhile battery saver options on it, I think finally helped me make the decision to get it, that was my only reservation! ♥️♥️♥️ Much appreciated!!
I've had the Flip 3 for 11+ months now, and feel nearly exactly as you do. Obviously, I'm watching closely as the unpack of the 4 is only days away, and I've taken advantage of Sammy's trade-in program the last two years. I've been leaning towards sticking with the 3, as the incremental upgrade of the 4 (so far) appears to possibly not warrant the time/hassle/$$$....but since my Flip 3 developed a Tic Tac sized air bubble in the factory top screen layer just today, I'll be leaning more towards going with the 4, even though I think this bubble situation would still be covered by the factory warranty....at least for another coupla weeks.
@@maxchilla732 nope, got it half price with a trade-in plus a free earbuds2. Tmobile wouldn't even take my girlfriend's old S9 but Samsung paid $300 for it, so she paid $600 for her Zflip3. Samsung website have crazy pre-release deals
Samsung definitely has to deal with the screen protector issue. My wife loves her flip 3, but she´s already waiting for a replacement under warranty after 8 months of normal use. And according to the guy at the T-mobile store, more and more people are coming looking for a replacement for the same problem here in South Florida. It´s a wonderful phone, concept is right, works with no issues other than the screen and screen protector. I would love to get one for me, but for now I´m keeping my iphone 13 pro.
to me, if the outer display would cover one half of the phone, it would be perfect. Opening Spotify to switch playlists, following google maps to go to an address, quickly replying to a text on the go, and showing your boarding pass in the airport could be actions that don't require opening the phone. Maybe in a couple of iterations, we could see something like that.
I would love to test one of those flip phones! I'll be 79 this summer and I have very small hands, actually it's short fingers, but I do very well with my phone and my tablets. I would love that phone because it's smaller. My hands are so small that I can never do texting with my thumbs. My thumbs are too short! Good job on the video! I love how down-to-earth you are and how thorough you are. I would love to have you send me the link where you're Talking about the fold phone also.
7 months, and it started to turn off when you fold it, except when charged. Apparently its a fairly common issue. Warranty covered repairs (which would have cost the same as the phone, as they changed screen and bottom half to be able to repair it). What worries me is that this issue is something that is doom to happen every 7 month of use
@@Ven0mSRT The day after I posted that comment I went to a repair shop and changed the plastic film in 10 minutes for about € 20. So in the end it's still a good purchase for this little extra cost
Totally agree with you, it's a really cool phone! Loving my lavender flip and everyone is asking me about it, even strangers, haha 😅 love the camera, the quality is amazing! Also of course the idea, the design, such a special, cute phone, i am able to put it in my tiny bag :) i never wanna switch to another phone, and the battery doesn't even bother me, I am not a spoiled apple user, i am ok with charging my phone once a day or just at night. Samsung did a great job!!!
Hi! I ve been looking into buying one, mostly because i love how chic it is but you mentioned the battery, is it holding up during the day? Bcs everyone says how its not a great battery. My phone holds up all day if i m not using it and i might have to charge it during the day if its open 7-8h. What is your experinece? Considering you comented 1yr ago:)
@@DanielaElena-il4ep hi! Depends on how often you use your phone...8 hours if you don't do much. I always have a powerbank with me, just in case. I still love this phone, though! It was never a problem for me
I have owned a zflip 3 since february The + : - foldable, small, not a brick - decent smartphone - can run beautiful games - pretty - sturdy (have a spigen clear case) - good screen - clear sound The - : - battery, not that bad but needs a powerbank for heavy days - cameras, average and do not do well with bright yellow, also I really wish the ultra wide was better - tends to heat when charged, I do not use heavy duty games but it could also be an issue if you run one for too long Do I like and recommend this phone ? Yes if you are into the fold. Besides this, you will find better value for the price. But, if you have tiny hands or tiny bags - like me - or just do not want your phone to be a brick, it is amazing. For my needs, it is the best phone I have ever used and I do not know any existing smartphone I would prefer over mine. Very happy about it !
I had a chance to try out this phone. I was previously skeptical since first seeing the Galaxy Fold 1 release. But this phone really surprises me being just a fun phone to have. the bend doesn't really affect the viewing experience unless using a low backlight. Though my biggest gripe is that the battery life is pretty poor. I was getting an estimated 4-7 hours with usage
I've had my Flip 3 for about 9 months now as well and my screen protector started to peel at the fold. I open this phone with two hands. I don't flip it open like in this video. I take care of it and the protector still lifted. To repair it, the shop needs to have a special machine to install the protector. You can't do it by hand. Samsung will replace it only once for free. That has been my only problem and only complaint. Other than that I love this phone but I'm seriously thinking about trading it in on a S22+ or a Pixel 6 pro.
Third time I dropped it, it scratched the outside a bit. It is magnetic! Fold does interfere, a little, with gaming. Sometimes, often, mic may not work properly and I've only had this brand-new for a few months 😋
For me, if the screen can last up to at least a year and a half minimum without breaking from actual constant bending in the center; then I'll be more apt. to trying one out.
I've had mine since Oct 2021. I love it so much. But I experienced way too many issues. Battery life definitely not the best. But then the screen started to cracked at the fold. And then a few weeks ago my phone had some sort of malfunction with the motherboard where it just shut off completely without booting back up whenever I closed the phone. Turns out this happens a lot to these phones. I just had to trade it in for a standard s22 because I don't want to have to deal with issues like this with an expensive device. End of day. I freaking love this phone and I will probably purchase one in the future when the tech improves much more
@@nacoleonedaniels9652 Hey I purchased it from Tmobile. The screen cracking at the fold seems to happen bc of the cold weather. I live in NYC and it started cracking in the winter time when it was freezing outside. And the malfunction literally happened our of nowhere. It would only boot up if connected to a charger and you could not close the phone if not it would not turn back on. I had to look online because I was so confused and there's so many people online that said the same. Then I called Samsung and also went into their store and they all told me it's a motherboard issue. The Samsung phone rep told me they have a lot of people calling in about this same issue, so I had to send my phone back and then sent me a "repaired device". Very weird issue lol
@@blahstefy yeah that is strange. I don't have the flip. I have s21+ but I've been eyeing the flip... I'm just waiting for the next generation because it wouldn't be so different from the s21. It would just be a flip phone. That's always why I didn't upgrade to the s22 series because there isn't much of a difference at all.
My screen protector started to crack on the crease around the 7 month mark. It got worse and worse so I just peeled it off. Other than that, no durability issues after 10 months.
I hope they keep producing the z flip 3 at a lower pricepoint, so more people can get there hands on a Z Flip. It's something you really need to experience and get a hands on, to truly understand. It's like the laptop of the mobile world.
I just bought one with a Prime Deal and look forward to getting it. Thanks for the review. I will be interested in taking some steps for battery optimization right away but, other than that, I think it will be perfect.
I've had one of these about 9 months. I was gentle with it and the screen started to crack along the crease, even with a screen protector in place. I replaced the screen protector just in case and nope, it was the screen that was beginning to split open. I did like it until I realized that with the failing screen and moving parts, it was certainly not a long-term phone. It's just not built to survive as long as your standard slab of glass phone. I won't be getting another foldable. Moving parts are failure points. And mine failed.
The fact that you dont have to open the phone make it minimalistic and a less possibility to overuse your phone because once you open it you can get distracted easly
I had to replace the screen protector because it started bubbling up in the middle. Overall I really like it and I don't think I can go back to a normal "candy bar" type of phone.
there junk going on over a year now and the middle where the screen bends when folding eventually pulls from the actual screen (not the protector) and it starts turning black from the middle and working it way around your screen. currently cant do anything that is on the top of my screen.
I've my Fold 3 and my wife loves her flip 3 so many reviewers have down played the cameras bit to the average person like me coming from a Galaxy S10 plus and my wife a Galaxy A52 we love the cameras and everyone around us loves them too the battery life could be better but it's enough to get through a day on either one
Used this phone for about a year and eventually the crease got ALLL fucked up. I even tried my hardest to make sure it wouldn't get messed up but it still started to peel and whatnot. Ended up trading it in for a pixel 6a and never looked back
I’m looking at getting one of these soon, specifically because it does fold up and fit into pockets better. Plus, I literally ALWAYS carry a portable charger on me, so the battery will be less of an issue lol
10/10 recommend the Z Flip 4. Battery Is amazing 😍. You should one million percent upgrade because I think it will be the perfect phone for anyone that likes the Flip 3
The overall capabilities of this device are unparalleled. You get a large note like screen when it's open and a very compact physical presence when closed. My only problem was that I had three of them and all three of them had a cracked in her screen after anywhere from 1.5 months to 6 months. It always starts with a little white divot in the center and goes from there. Every time
@@AnAngel111 no, that's a Samsung defense. The cover that comes with the phone will eventually be peeled off because of that. And then after a little bit the real screen will start cracking.
Hey Shane this is an old video but what do you think about the using these flippables in a very long term? I remember my Motorola flip phone 20 years ago became loose to unfold after 1-2 years of use because I get a habit of fidgeting the phone at times opening and closing it. Do you think the new era flip phones are sturdier now? Or in time they will also get loose and destroy the experience?
Personally I've had great luck with the foldables, but others sometimes get bubbling on their included screen protectors after multiple years of folding, in addition to sometimes screens failing at the folding point and spreading from there. It's a gamble honestly, but the fact you can buy a pre owned fold 3 today for $330 is kinda crazy. For that price I'd say it's worth the gamble to enjoy the technology.
But to answer your question more specifically, the phone doesn't necessarily get looser and loose the enjoyable flip phone experience. Some people report that their phone won't open up the entire way anymore after very extended use
@@ShaneSymonds A part of me would still like to try it out and I think that the fold 3 at $330 seems like a reasonable choice or anything else at that price range like the Motorola Razr 2023 even though the outer display is tiny. Thanks for the input
Here is one thing in my life I actually love and this boy loves me back too super happy got it super fast everything is great with this phone, the battery, the camera, the touch just everything
Just got mine. This things great but any sort of 3d game will leave this thing melting your palms. What’s weird is it doesn’t struggle to run any games but it still gets super hot.
Cool review. I just ordered one of these new from AT&T. I do wonder if flipping it open so hard isn't going to reduce the life of the screen. A more gentle action might put less stress where the crease it. Maybe?
I love being able to have my phone half folded in camera mode, then set it down on the ground or a table. Can take shots I couldn't take with another phone.
Yeah, my screen protector peeled off at the crease about 2 months, and mine is just starting to get the lines coming in from the sides of the crease. I have daily driven mine since September. They have not gotten worse in about 2 months, but it is definitely worrying me.
I have had mine since September, i have loved it, it has been very durable. It has been accidentally launched across a bare concrete floor with no case, dropped on bare asphalt and dropped a ton. My screen protector peeled off pretty early on, tried putting a new one on, but it did the exact same thing. Battery has been my main complaint for sure. I am starting to see the lines or crack like things appearing from the sides. 3 on the left and 2 on the right, both only a couple of millimeters long. But it has been like that a couple of months, so far, no major problems from them.
I've had mine for the same amount of time and it also has the cracks. My screen protector is starting to peel off but I'm scared to take it off. I know your said you got another one and it did the same thing? Do you not have a screen protector on it at all? If so how has it been without one on
@@tsujidofan The cracks you are seeing might be the protector, my protector was like that my screen was fine. I do not have one now at all, it's been fine but any scratches you get are permanent now. As far as it damaging it just from not being on its been good.
The only reason why I don't like a side or back fingerprint sensor is that I use my phone kept on a table, bed or any plain surface. That way, I don't have access to the sensor and the same goes for when I put it on my car's phone mount.
This is so helpful thank you so much! The battery problem that I heard and read everywhere wont really be a problem for me because my almost 5 years old phone cant survive an entire day either (kind of used to it), and I always carry a powerbank or I simply charge it in school. So definetly going for this phone by now
I have had my Flip 3 for nearly 8 months and love the phone. However, the screen began to crease then start to crack on the fold. Was told I had to send it in for warrantee and 3 days into using a temp phone, I get a message that it is not under warrantee and they want $377 to fix the cracking crease at the fold line. I am currently on hold with Samsung at the time of this call 52:29 and holding for an answer.
Iv had Z Flip 3 for 7 month, and it was like addiction. Great experience, its something special after so many boring years. But..... after 5 months, the hinch, the mechanism has clearence, you can feel it. And the crees is much deeper, thats true and it makes this phone less interesting fro me, less trust. I tryed to play wit other Flips from people around, and they got the same problem. Both of this problems.
The battery was not a problem for me, but I don't stay glued to the phone either. I love that this fit well in my pocket. The downfall - Today was 1 year plus three days since purchase and startup. My warranty was 1 year. 3. damn. days. after it runs out, the screen decides to crap out. From the hinge up (top half) is unuseable and won't allow any touch/contact.. I can see what's on the upper half but cannot do anything. I was able to save everything and clear the phone but now cannot even reset it because I can't log in using the top half. So Mad!! I loved it but now it's a $1000 brick! No folders for me again unless it's a late 90's Nokia.
If it's not your first device you reach for? What's the point of buying it? Most of us who can only afford one phone, it should replace not only other phones but a tablet right? Thanks for this review, makes it easier to decide whether to switch to a foldable or not.

I got it at Amazon, refurbished, as new, for 620 € ! About the battery, with the adaptative battery feature, it last one day. I'm sure that if the price continues to go down these clamshell type smartphones will become very popular.
Side fingerprint sensor may not be as good for the left-handed folks. But I guess we can always register the index finger to be used instead of the thumb.
This is a perfect example of using a lot of words without saying anything. Gave no examples on how the flip phone actually more beneficial than another phone. “How do I use this phone as a daily driver? I just use it, I hold it my hands, it folds” wow, ground breaking stuff
My question is there's a print in middle where you flip right. Don't you see it while watching videos or just using it? Wouldn't that looks disturbing? I mean it's so cute but that's the thought of this.
I just change from iphone user in 10 year . Finally i decide to change to z flip 4 , i love it so much and hope it will not fragile in screen cover so fast
Mine Flip 3 is about 14 months old. Recently the flex mode stopped working (it doesn't recognizes that my phone is in bend position). I have changed the outer plastic protection on screen twice (it starts tearing from center exactly in 6 months). Battery life is horrible. I need to charge it 2-3 times a day. Other than that its a great phone. Display is great. Decent camera. Got some updates for outer display, but it needs more widgets. I think it has lot more potential.
How do you access/read your text messages from the display when it's closed? Mine always gives me the message notification but in order to read it it says open app so I have to open the phone itself. I appreciate your help!
Hey guys, u have a little bit of a problem with the flip3. The youtube shorts are cut off at the edges when i watch them, is there a way i can fix it??
I just got a Honor x9 when I could possibly have this phone, and I must say I don't regret it. I've seen that the batery on that phone doesn't last, where as in my actual phone It lasts all day (and I am a constantly using my phone all day). I would say none of those flip/fold phones are for me.
Z Flip 3 is the best cell phone I have ever owned. The only problem is that the factory screen protector screen is coming off from the center bending area. It is less than 1 year old so they need to replace the entire screen. If not under warranty, this is a $400 fee! I have phone insurance though.
idk if the original 1000 dollar price tag is correct, I live in europe and I got it for 680 Euro (new) even if u change that to dollar ur still only left with 717 dollars

2years later?
Legitimately in my opinion I believe if they can't manage to fit a larger battery inside these flip devices, that they should go with a processor that draws less power. The fact is that many people and especially the target audience for a device like this, aren't going to see a huge performance difference between a Snapdragon 888 and a Snapdragon 778. The gains in battery though would be hugely noticeable.
Power user reviewers on youtube will definitely not like that sort of change if it happens
Wrong 888 is more powerful yes, but more efficient
Could you give us some examples of the tweaks you made? 12hrs is crazy long for this phone
Same. I charged it around 1030. It's almost midnight and I'm at 40 percent. And I'm using it to listening to music and reading.

You definitely have the wrong phone for what you use it for. C'mon son, you have to know better.

I just had mine a few days ago. My only issue about this phone is the battery. It seems that it can't last a day even just for social media use. I love everything about it except for the battery. The size is perfect, the finger print sensor. It's a great phone.

There are a bunch of videos on youtube on optimizing the battery life on this phone, mine is on the way so I'll hope those tips will help.

@@darthkai8242 I actually noticed this as well my phone lasts a little bit longer to the point I can charge it the next day
I posted this comment elsewhere but thought it would be relevant here too.
It looks like Flip4 will be even better than this one, might get improved cameras if I remember correctly as well as considerably bigger battery!

honestly, i think if the battery was significantly improved, more people would get them.
Having that said I am still happy using the z flip 3 as my private dayli driver.
Yeah mine gets through a day fine, in my option the main upgrade needed is to have the same cameras as the S22.
And now is it still working?
Now you are watching this video and still having 2nd thoughts, don't! haha unless if battery life is a deal breaker for you
For $500 NOT BAD @ ALL😎🤓
I had my Z Flip 3 since launch day as my secondary device and i love it.Still looks brand new.I think they didn't expect the battery to be this bad,but we should thank that to the inefficiency of Snapdragon.A few years back i had a Exynos Note 8 with the same battery capacity, and that phone had a bigger screen and it was also QHD instead of FHD and the battery was better on that phone.I honestly hope the Flip 4 will also have Exynos versions,i don't care about gaming and they make less heat than SD
Exynos 22 Ultra vs sd 22 Ultra, the exynos had way more issues including battery
@@Mirra2003-f9s the battery capacity is also different between the two phones, and the 888 is much more powerful
Yeah I feel you, everyone complains about exynos, but my s20 was exynos and my flip 3 is a snapdragon. Exynos was way better, for real world use.
The screen protector? Not the actual screen tho right?
Everytime you flip it one hand my heart stops for a second 😂
I've had my z flip 3 since the end of September 2021. Used it for that year with OEM screen protector but have since removed it since January 2022. The screen is amazing without a screen protector but downside is that it's prone to micro scratches very easily. Not only that, I have scratches in the crease as well so sometimes they can be disruptive and an eye sore but overall not a deal breaker IMO. I have used this phone as my main and I'm treating it just like any other phone I've had, no babying it.

Good news!

I would love to test one of those flip phones! I'll be 79 this summer and I have very small hands, actually it's short fingers, but I do very well with my phone and my tablets. 7 months, and it started to turn off when you fold it, except when charged. Apparently its a fairly common issue. Do I like and recommend this phone ? Yes if you are into the fold. Besides this, you will find better value for the price. But, if you have tiny hands or tiny bags - like me - or just do not want your phone to be a brick, it is amazing. For my needs, it is the best phone I have ever used and I do not know any existing smartphone I would prefer over mine. Very happy about it !
I have to charge this thing at least 3 times a day. But I still love it
I had a chance to try out this phone.
Yes you're right.. But I think it can last longer, and you should have this as a secondary device imo.
End of day. I freaking love this phone and I will probably purchase one in the future when the tech improves much more
First I've heard of this.
Did you buy directly from Samsung or a 3rd party?
@@nacoleonedaniels9652 Hey I purchased it from Tmobile. The screen cracking at the fold seems to happen bc of the cold weather. I live in NYC and it started cracking in the winter time when it was freezing outside. And the malfunction literally happened our of nowhere. I had to look online because I was so confused and there's so many people online that said the same. Then I called Samsung and also went into their store and they all told me it's a motherboard issue.
Every time
I heard that it's caused by the cover screen that comes with the phone, that once you replace the actual screen is ok, have you tried that?
@@AnAngel111 no, that's a Samsung defense. The cover that comes with the phone will eventually be peeled off because of that. And then after a little bit the real screen will start cracking.
@@Jamesthor you are just a beta male.
Im a little late to the party but I finally got one and it should be here by Monday! Can't wait!
congrats :D!!! i hope you love it im saving up for one rn
@@flukiestgenie thanks! Good luck to you and hope you can get your z flip soon!
@@ethanol1586 bless the battery?
I wanna learn how you take care of your Z flip 3. Most people's z flip gets cracked but yours looked okay even 9 months later!
@@HDTbassboost okay thank you!
I am currently on hold with Samsung at the time of this call 52:29 and holding for an answer.
good luck with that.. i have been thinking to buy the flip 4 so checking the durability of the flip 3.. this shit scares me
Best phone I have ever used
Hey Shane. Do you still have the A52 5G? I would love to have it. I don't have enough money to order a new one.
you should have shown it with the case off so people could actually see the phone itself. i pre-ordered mine and have had zero issues.
#5:46 did you say RuneScape?
Iv had Z Flip 3 for 7 month, and it was like addiction. Great experience, its something special after so many boring years. But..... after 5 months, the hinch, the mechanism has clearence, you can feel it. And the crees is much deeper, thats true and it makes this phone less interesting fro me, less trust. I tryed to play wit other Flips from people around, and they got the same problem. Both of this problems.
I would love to have one but battery life and zoom is kinda important for me so, might as well just get the s21+ from last year for cheaper
9 months later how often did you use the handset ? hate these so called long term reviews when the phones been sat in the draw for 8
If it's not your first device you reach for? What's the point of buying it? Most of us who can only afford one phone, it should replace not only other phones but a tablet right? Thanks for this review, makes it easier to decide whether to switch to a foldable or not.
I got it at Amazon, refurbished, as new, for 620 € !
About the battery, with the adaptative battery feature, it last one day.
I'm sure that if the price continues to go down these clamshell type smartphones will become very popular.
Side fingerprint sensor may not be as good for the left-handed folks. But I guess we can always register the index finger to be used instead of the thumb.
where to buy this phonecase thx
How do we get the samsung tool to be on the cover screen?
This is a perfect example of using a lot of words without saying anything. Gave no examples on how the flip phone actually more beneficial than another phone. “How do I use this phone as a daily driver? I just use it, I hold it my hands, it folds” wow, ground breaking stuff
Can you continue a phone call once you flip to close position?
Where did u buy your case from
I have boost mobile as a carrier so will this phone work with them?
My question is there's a print in middle where you flip right. Don't you see it while watching videos or just using it? Wouldn't that looks disturbing? I mean it's so cute but that's the thought of this.
whas the cover thzat u use
The s22 being thicker has made it so much more usable caseless. The previous designs slipped out of your hand so easy
I just change from iphone user in 10 year . Finally i decide to change to z flip 4 , i love it so much and hope it will not fragile in screen cover so fast
Really inclined to get this or the Flip 4. Did you experience any kind of burn in on the screen?
Hi Shane, great video review, where did you get the case please? Regards Gary
What case is that and where did you get it?
I just got a Honor x9 when I could possibly have this phone, and I must say I don't regret it.
I've seen that the batery on that phone doesn't last, where as in my actual phone It lasts all day (and I am a constantly using my phone all day). I would say none of those flip/fold phones are for me.
Can you get signal strength to show on display with phone closed?
Z Flip 3 is the best cell phone I have ever owned. The only problem is that the factory screen protector screen is coming off from the center bending area. It is less than 1 year old so they need to replace the entire screen. If not under warranty, this is a $400 fee! I have phone insurance though.
Question how is the batter when it sits all day playing Spotify on Bluetooth devices will it last 6-8 hours of mail delivery
idk if the original 1000 dollar price tag is correct, I live in europe and I got it for 680 Euro (new) even if u change that to dollar ur still only left with 717 dollars
That price may be today. He's referring to the launch price.
@@akramm.8543 but he said at the time of this video, that is still retails at the original price?
