My grandpa is talking about getting a foldable simply because he misses his flip phone!
damn rich grandma
@@mocha6315 he said grandpa. He doesn't need to be rich, a lot of older people just don't waste money
@@ervin9805 either way it's not about a grandma^^ and it's a fact you should keep in mind imo. I forgot there are a lot of "jokes" these day. Funny stuff. Wasn't meant to be an insult or anything

@Vince C dude it's just a joke, I know you don't have to be *really* rich to afford a $999 phone but it's a high-end price regardless. Btw why there's a person triggered by me changing grandpa to grandma, to that person, I'm sorry okay? Have a good day
Shout out to Samsung for being one of the only manufacturers to still innovate new phone technology
When Steve Jobs died Apple became less innovative with their phones.
What's point of folding phones? what's the added value? I only see a lot of downside and no upside.
@@SatanicBoomBoomHead It's not for you then. This phone's main point is that it folds.
@@SatanicBoomBoomHead it's more portable
@@SatanicBoomBoomHead It's not supposed to be catering towards all the parts of their customer base or audience, they're just trying to do something different in terms of the form factor that we usually get on a smartphone. It's different to see the display being folded, which with further R&D one day might lead to the same technology being integrated into various useful products with much less cons as compared to what they have now. So finally it comes down to the choice, if someone likes to have a folding phone as their daily driver or just for fun and is willing to spend the expensive rates that they come at then you've these options provided by a reputed company like Samsung, if not then you don't have to buy it and can go for the regular options they provide, either way it benefits the customer base because something is always better than nothing.
I don't see myself using these foldable devices nor it being useful to my workflow but I am very much interested in the tech, work they're putting into it and what they're gonna do with it.
Every step forward they make on these phones is one step closer to cracking the code and getting it right. Respect to Samsung.
Yes in 3 - 5 years these will be the norm & slab phones will be obsolete.

@@Niop_Tres the razr looks horrible dude 😂 It has some super ugly texture on the back and the front is just a glossy black square with camera and screen. And then you open it and it has: a huge notch, huge bezels, a huge chin, and assymetrical bezels (like beyond assymetrical...)

I think the Z Flip 3 is the first foldable I'm *actually* considering getting. It proves that there definitely is a place for foldables in the market and Samsung is doing a great job bridging the gap closer.
I got the first one and I love it! Besides the sensitivity of the phone, the cameras are ok.
I will say that I think the first design tops the second, the purple/gold is just so beautiful. If they added a bigger front screen, that would've been phenomenal.
If I didn't get my note 20 I would have gotten this. I wanted the original flip
Same, this is the phone that's making me switch over from my iPhone 11
Really want to get the fold but dsmn if only it had a pen slot , that's the only thing keeping from letting go of my note..
Especially since the extra Pen is such a hassle ans the cover ruins rhe esthetics
Can't wait until the first or second are at a price where they're actually the price of a phone with a plastic screen, bad camera and short lifespan.
Will definitely get one then.
My heart skipped a beat when Marques dropped the hard drive like that. 11:28

I think it was on purpose since it's an SSD and not a spinning hard drive. I would guess to show off the fact that you can kinda abuse them.
its a SSD not a HDD so its fine, hard drives can't be that small.
That wasn't a hard drive.
i finally got the chance to play with one of these in person yesterday. the technology is way more incredible when you can feel it in your hands than looking at it in a youtube video. i will likely be purchasing one soon
Is the camera of the phone good like iPhone 13 pro max because I need to choose one of them to buy

So I bought this phone about a week ago. Absolutely great I haven't had any complaints it's been a bit of learning curve especially with the dip in the middle of the display. Otherwise great. But this morning I had it in my bed and it kind of bended just a bit. And when I picked it up I panicked because I'm not used to having a phone that can bend. So I thought that I broke it. before instantly remembering "oh yeah, it's supposed to do that." Been a long time since I've had a folding phone. Going to take a little bit to get used to having a folding phone again.
I really don't get it. Why do people go for the flip? I understand the fold because it's a tablet. What made you go for the flip? I find it interesting and obviously there must be a market for it. Is it because it's smaller?

I can't believe he didn't answer the one question I assumed everyone would have about the phone: does it hang up your call when you close it?
There's a setting on the phone u can change if u want it to end calls when u close it or not
My educated guess is no. That would be a true flip phone. Also, when he opens Spotify, he starts playing “The Weekend”, he closes the phone, and it’s still playing.
I can't speak for this, but with the Moto Razr I believe it ends the call normally. But if you're wearing Bluetooth headphones or something it'll keep the call going.
No it doesn't. I closed it while on the phone with a friend yesterday. They are so there, just remember to put them in speaker phone first
i have the flip2 and it does hang up when you close it
I have this phone it's amazing the crease isn't as bad and is further up then you think so your finger doesn't go over it when scrolling the battery isn't as bad as people made it out to be the cover screen on the front is amazing for notification reads too which is nice so you don't feel like you're sucked into your phone when just checking the time or a message. I got it after my note 10 plus died and the faster 120 fps and 5g speed is amazing also the smaller more pocket able size while not losing any screen size is a huge benefit. The brightness on this phone is extreme 3/4 of the way up with the eye comfort shiled on otherwise your eyes will burn out lol.
The camera quality is so good it converted the picture to a pdf file when I sent it in messenger because of how high the resolution is lol.
All in all if you are tempted to buy it don't hesitate it's well worth it. Mine is in green and it's turning heads everywhere I go!
@rukdngme I got mine a couple days ago and I love it, the cooler trick with it is when your texting flip the phone up a bit and it'll feel lighter and blocks some of the sun on the screen
@Looker about a month later and it's still strong. The battery will last most of the day but if you get a portable charger and its great. That's the biggest con for me but it isn't a huge deal
do you guys still feel the same way!!! after all this time?? i wanna get it 🤑

Me too! I can’t wait for the Flip to fully mature.
Sold my Fold 2 a few months ago and went back to my S10 5G. I felt like the technology for the fold is not what it's all hyped to be. You're sacrificing a bad and narrow outside screen for the tablet. But sometimes I didn't want to open it up. I very much like this style better. It's more of a no nosense type of thing. Samsung is doing great with these. They keep getting better and better.
The only thing it needs is a spring action button for flipping it fast and starting to use your phone right away
But then you wouldn't be able to hold it in place (for example, when you're just propping it up for a selfie or something like that). Samsung made sure to show us that feature.
That would be useful sometimes but it would be unnecessarily more expensive and this feature would easily malfunction....
Exactly what I was gonna type! The touch button can be used for that. When it folds the button protrudes slightly and when pressed it pops open. But then it might create issues where it pops in tight places and damages the phone.
Def because the effort to use our fingers is a struggle smh
Like the switch comb?
I've gone to the Samsung store and played with the phone a little. I have to say, if it wasn't that expensive, I would be leaving with that phone in my pocket. It really feels nice, I don't even mind the crease in the middle. Yes you can feel it when sliding, but if you are looking at your phone directly, you don't see it, it's not a problem. Just playing with the phone for 5 minutes made me forget about any shortcomings.
The only thing that held me back was the price.
That said I think the phone can be improved on. Probably a dust resistant hinge for starters, more battery time and getting slimmer and smaller screen. When opened the screen is too long, the aspect ratio is unnatural. I guess because all the apps are not meant for that resolution.
Still, it's a very usable phone today. The only thing stopping me is the high price. If you are rich (unlike me) and like fancy toys (like me), I urge to check this phone at a Samsung store. I think you'll like it.
Agreed with the aspect ratio actually. If they actually made close to, a little shorter than the 12 Mini size, it would be perfect to incite competition with the iPhone and kicked Apple into spearheading the battle of the smaller phone market.
Agreed, samsung has always a game changer in everything. Now the price is some what in reasonable range. I will wait 2 more years then I will definitely go for it.
$999 is already a really compelling price

Marques: you'll get used to iPhone's huge notch, after some time you'll not even notice it
Marques: this screen protector on fold 3 really annoys me bc of this little cut out.
Well he is an apple fanboy lol
Wtf? It’s not even the same area. The cutout in screen protector sucks, it collects dust and starts to peel off extremely quickly. And the notch in iPhone doesn’t get in a way at all and you stop noticing it faster then a hole punch in other phones.
@@Shadowolf1230 you sound like you've never used it

Look how long it took for a 120hz screen to come out on a phone, compare it to how long it took to have it on a folding screen! That's mind blowing and a great tech accomplishment on it own. Pretty cool
Hope they can produce tech that hides the crease in the screen like how we have under display cameras that are hidden.
That would me nice, at even the beginning I was thinki g 2 sperate screens and a mechanism to put them together, so like 2 sheets of glass shoved together, although durability wise that'll never work lol
What? Those are two different things. You cannot hide the crease, like it is impossible to hide it. It may, however, be possible to remove it, as in it never happens, but it is kinda hard at the moment. They are probably trying though.
@@tonythompson4022 they can absolutely do it !
@@unknown3158 I'm sure they can use distortion or illusion effects to make it look flat.

Just got one today. Was gonna get the fold but decided on the flip cuz I can't imagine the fold being as big as it is being comfy for my pocket.
I like the approach that it has be just one more feature. If I might add, it has to be one more really compelling feature, which in this case is that it makes the phone really compact to take along while opening up to have room when actually using it. Also it can help reduce addictive usage by introducing a little friction by having to open it up.

I am going to enjoy not being on contract for a little while but I'm very excited to get a version of this phone. I loved my old flip phone!
This is the perfect example of the Dual Embargo. Thanks Marques.
Watched so many reviewers talk about this phone. Finally excited this video dropped!! Already pre-ordered but want to get as much information as possible!!!
I like the honest review both pros and cons
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Appreciate it!
