Happy for top end costs, just a smaller device with a top camera for those who don't use the phone as much and don't need a large screen, but still want the best camera that exists in their pocket.
I have the Flip 4 for couple of weeks now. Really enjoy it. Proping up camera is something I do every day - be it on video calls or to take photos. I adore the smaller size. It does overheat a bit and ends up throttling at times but not often enough where I would consider it a dealbreaker.
@@Izopen82 Wow, time flies, thanks for asking. It's working the same as first day - i.e. it does have overheating issues where it throttles during intense operations - camera can get slow taking photos because of it. Hinge physically seems just as stiff - no complaints - and I've dunked it under water, no water damage. The plastic screen protector which can be replaced is slightly scrapped up and in the corner of the fold you can see a small air gap - it may or may not grow, don't know yet as it only recently appeared. Replacing the screen protector will fix it. I've dropped it number of times and traveled with it across the world. I wish for a better battery life. I also wish for better cameras. But I just love the form factor and it's so easy to prop it for calls and photos - I am planning to upgrade to the next flip because of that and hopefully there will be some improvements.
@cactusjack5036 Hey, haha, I never expected to follow up. The Flip 4 I had for a year, and it went well. Travelled across Europe and even to Japan. For Flip 4, the screen protrector started peeling in the middle after about 7 months. Replaced it for free under warranty before trading Flip 4 for Flip 5 last year. Cooling is much better on Flip 5 as well as the performance is more stable as a result. Still, cooling and battery leaves a bit to be desired, but it's worth it for me. With Flip 5 I tried to be just as violent as I was with Flip 4 (swinging it wildy open with one hand back and forth as a stress toy) but after 2 months the middle screen went black and unresponsive. I put it in warranty, and they fixed it in 20 working days - delayed due to waiting for parts, apparently. Since the fixing, no more problems like that have arisen, but I stopped being violent with it. Also, for Flip 5, the screen protector doesn't start peeling off after 7 months at all - it's solidly on. And with Flip 5, I have travelled much of Europe too. In August, I will trade this in for Flip 6.
We watched and rewatched your review before my wife decided to buy the Flip4. Thankfully, expectations (based on your review) were realistic and she is very very happy with her phone. Of course, it helps muchly that: 1. the phone was free from a trade-in deal with the wireless company. She turned in her old S10 and got a spanking new Flip 4. What's not to like? Right? 2. In her professional world where almost everyone sports an iPhone, the Flip4 stands out like crazy. She's a teacher, so even the kids line up to take a peek.
The aggressive one hand flip works for me 100% of the time. Durability of the screen hasn't been a problem but the screen protector has cracked and peeled off after less than a year with the Flip3.
I've always love the new innovative ideas samsung has done with this phone, the design and unique cool technology this phone has. My only concern with this type of foldable screens are the crease. I work as a repair tech and repaired Z flips. The most common issue is a black line of dead pixels along the crease of the screen. Long term the screen will start having issues which is unfortunate because I want one so badly but, I believe the technology for the screen is just not there yet.
Screen crease, easily scratched plastic screen, poor battery life and not much actual payoff other than different for different’s sake. Rollables are where the market needs to go, way superior variation of the multi-form factor phone. Foldables just feel inherently half baked, Z Flop and Fold 4 included.
I'm considering the Flip 4 to replace my original Z Flip. My Z Flip suddenly started to shut down when the phone is closed. Is it worth repairing? I love the Z Flip's size when folded so wouldn't hesitate in getting another.
@Hambert Hi Herbert. I jumped into the Z Flip 4! I've still got my original Z Flip for backup. I'm sure the fault mine has is easily repairable? Anyone who can answer this I'd be grateful. 👍🏻
It feels different that the end recommendation video is gone but still in the context of the video I'm amazed on the information its given. I've been using samsung s22 and rethinking if its better than ios but, samsung is getting there and making android fully marketable compared to ios. Nice video boss!!
My main concern and what is preventing me from getting that phone is the long term durability of the screen. I remember hearing on the Z Flip 2 how screens were getting a visible crease in anywhere from a few months to a few days of normal usage. If I got that on my phone it would annoy me constantly and I'd never stop noticing it. So I'm not going to buy a folding phone until these kinds of issues can be fixed, and although they've mostly been fixed from what I can tell, mostly is not enough for me. I'd love to see more innovation from samsung though since this could be a great new market for companies to get into.
The crease is there the first day haha. It didn't get more noticeable for me, when I'm using it it just kinda fades into the background. For me not an annoyance.
@TecHome it may be an annoyance for you, but for me it really isn't. Many others agree too. Just because your view conflicts with mine doesn't make my opinion any less weak or valid.
You will hardly notice the crease...I don't know what eyesight you have if you can still see the crease while watching vids or playing games. Oh, the crease will look deeper if you keep of folding your phone, if you don't want a crease, never ever fold your phone right from the first time you bought it
Don't buy this phone it's a scam!!! If you drop it from waist height with a case on it they will void the warranty and ask for $660 CAD to fix the screen. Research, I think there is a class action lawsuit pending in Poland again Samsung for their foldable phones.
Watching this on Z Flip 3. I'm playing the game of 'find 10 difference between these 2 phones' now, almost no difference at all! The main upgrade they need to do is remove the crease, but they still don't know how to do that. I'll buy the new one when they manage to remove the crease
Surprised that a 12% increase in battery is not counted as a valid reason for upgrading, but hey, I agree, the crease IS the most important upgrade that a foldable needs right now.
@@itsmyright2229 I don't understand how anyone can care about the crease? It's basically like a notch, it disappears when you use the phone. Except it literally disappears because unless you're viewing off angle you can't see it
@@propersod2390 i agree with you, I got used to my flip3's crease, and it is indeed barely noticeable when using the phone. However, not having a crease at all would be even better
@@VictorioLopes well of course not having it would be better. But it being there isn't a big deal at all. I don't own a flip or fold, I did see them at a store though and I almost forgot the crease even exists
Your reasoning behind your review is fire !!! Wanting to stay more spiritually in tune and more present in the moment is EXACTLY why I got this phone your opinion is very encouraging to me that I made right decision
True, there's basically no rival for Samsung foldables. They are literally the only one in the world who makes IP rated water resistant foldables. Seen other brands tried to copy them, but didn't get the same reception as Samsung.
I think a perk that no one really talks about is how the main screen is protected from damage by allowing the exterior display to handle more trivial tasks. Granted, the interior screen can't handle shit for abuse and Samsung, for some reason, decided that the external screen should protrude from the frame...
I love how you brought up the fact that are you trying to be more present in life, because that’s something I’m trying to explore and the fact that you can compare the phone to help you in situations like that really helps.

I see Samsung with the foldables the way Song was with the mirrorless cameras. The "only" one in the market and slowly getting better until no other brand can compete anymore.
Some impressive foldable developments at Motorola with the Razr 2022, looks equivalent to the fold 4 but sadly is only released in China at the moment. So yes Samsung is the only real competitor in the segment for now
7:44 what you say about Samsung with flip phones is probably 100% on point I remember me and my mates bickering about the first foldable Samsung made and I said yeah it’s stupid prices but think about in 5-10-15 years time where foldables will start becoming mainstream cause they get so good Samsung will be at the front in price and quality, surprised apple hasn’t tried getting on with it too with this mindset just in case
Apple is a very late trend setter. They wait for other brands to perfect the tech and then they release it just like that. They really don't need innovations anymore because they dominate the market so much. It's like turtle hare race type of situation. Apple is just lazy
I like that now Arun changes the background and makes short and informative videos. Great work Arun! (I’d like the outro to be a bit longer and with choices on which next video)
you say that when Arun straight-up said that these are minor upgrades over the last year? Your commend would have made much more sense in last year's foldable smartphones videos
@@itsmyright2229 interesting point, i see what you mean but to me the increase in battery counts as a major change when there really isn't much else to do, i think the final step for foldables is for them to get the same tech as other phones in the same price range
I love that samsung continues to maintain these two lines of foldable phone. Feels like the good old days when not every product had to be for every single person and variety was embraced more.
If they make a next flip with a bit more functionality with the outer screen, and a more invisible fold mark, and a better camera. I think I could see why something like this could be useful for vlogs due to the versatility of the different ways this can be be used to shoot content.
Flip 4 owner here...you can't see the fold at all while you use your phone, but you can feel it while scrolling. Oh...if you want zero fold mark, never ever fold your phone. I'm not that being sarcastic, but when I bought my phone, it has no fold line at all, you can't feel anything in the middle...UNTIL I started folding it.
I really enjoy the ideas on the z flip and I've been like so this since the start. To see this much useful upgrades coming at once, is really great! When they make the hinge mechanism better like the rzor phone, I think I might start saving to buy one.
Now this looks promising! I'll wait a few years more and maybe my next phone will be a flip phone like this. I can especially see the mindfulness if they let you restrict the outer screen!
This is one of the most informative yet entertaining review / first impression video I've ever seen. I feel like i know everything I wanted to know & some more about this hardware! Great job Arun!
I want to see someone do a lifetime fold/unfold test with these latest generation screens. For someone who keeps phones for a min. of 5 years, it would be disappointing for the screen to start cracking within only a couple of years.
the quality of production in this video is mindblowing. I guess most are so immersed in the content, that they do not notice how planned the whole editing process was
I can’t help but think that videos like these are such happy fairytale feeling expressions of creativity that they almost push you towards buying the phone. All the cinematic shots, outdoor clips, using props, clever graphics et cetera make these videos so far removed from reality it’s like almost watching an advertisement or a short movie. Reality is nothing like what is shown in this review~advertisement. Videos like these are perfect for inducing this amazing feeling of admiration almost reaching FOMO levels. This is what pushes people to spend money they don’t need to in order to buy these products. Brands know this and that is why they encourage such reviews and do all the paraphernalia surrounding media events.
This is a rough take. He’s not trying to get you to buy the phone. He reviews hundreds of them, you think he cares which one you buy? He makes the videos entertaining because normal people don’t want to watch a bland video that delivers the specs in a monotone voice and nothing else. Well except for you apparently
@@NazraT1704 First, I didn’t say that he is doing that on purpose. I am talking about the effect such videos have on the psyche of the viewers. It’s the subtle undertones that affect the viewer subconsciously. The hyperbolic statements, stresses about the new “features” that the phone gets etc. one has to apply a critical mind to understand that message. Sort of viewing against the grain. It’s almost unintended by the video maker as well. I agree that he doesn’t care which phone his viewers buy. But that’s not the point. He and all tech reviewers care about how their videos make you feel. The attempt to make them more than just a bland, factual review makes them advertisement like. He’s not pushing just one phone but everything he reviews. There is no personal insight about the product. Just hyperbole.
@@nipunsharma5351 I do kind of see what you’re saying, but personally I view it more as his personality and enthusiasm coming out than I do it being an advertisement. To me he is explaining the pros and cons so his viewers can be well informed, and he hyped up the stuff that he enjoys about the product because he enjoys it, not because he wants to sell us on it or make us feel a certain way, but just because he enjoys it. Sure there may be some subconscious want to convince us to enjoy it too, but I don’t think that’s a heavy influence. For instance, he’s always more critical of phone cameras, because he enjoys taking photos and using “gimmicky” features. So if he really hyped up a camera, it’s because it’s exciting to him, not because he thinks that will make us feel a certain type of way
I love my Z-Flip3! Battery's not that noticeable and its better than carrying a long phone everywhere I go it's no different then a Gameboy advanced, that alone is enough for me to to keep supporting the new iterations of it. Keep up the amazing work Arun. Love that your quality has not dipped as you are getting healthier both mentally and physically. You are killing it man!
I'm honestly just waiting for them to fix the extreme crease before I pull the trigger on getting one. I know myself too well. I get super distracted by things like a small scratch somewhere on my screen or minor burn-in. So there's no way the crease wouldn't kill my enjoyment as it currently is.
I’m in the same boat as you as far as wanting to be less distracted, so hearing your thoughts on that second screen makes it very tempting to go for the flip 4 for my next upgrade. However I’ll probably wait to see if they fix the scratches on the screen that everyone mentions
I was actually considering flip series to switch but then when i look up the sparepart prices, which is quite expensive for me... i decided against it, but it still exciting regardless, i hope in the future more improvements means more affordable and reasonable sparepart price as well
guess what you wont need spare parts. i dont even have a case for it, it is always folded shut, so it proects the screen from drops cracks , screen scratches,,, any scracth on the outside is a battle scar that i love. waer and tear makes this bretter
I've got a ZF3, It has way more features than I will ever require. However, that flip fold open/close is absolutely the hero smart phones need right now! 💯
The minecraft cooked beef pop up was excellent.. Excellent review, that mouse feature actually was super as one can always connect device to a larger monitor..
I love the concept of these flip/foldable smart phones. But my question is, How long will it last? From what I've heard about previous models of these foldable phones is that the screen becomes damaged in about a year, due to the fold. I hate that I'm so scared about this because I would love the galaxy z flip.
@@BelkyRealm I know someone who has a damaged screen on their relatively new foldable phone. But it might be one of the older Models. I do believe that the more recent models have a long enough lifetime to be worth it, but there's still that lingering doubt. I have the Flip 4 for couple of weeks now. Really enjoy it. Proping up camera is something I do every day - be it on video calls or to take photos. I adore the smaller size. It does overheat a bit and ends up throttling at times but not often enough where I would consider it a dealbreaker.
Been 7 months since your comment. How's your Z Flip 4 holding up?
Been a year how's your phn
@@MartinzWhello man , it’s been almost 2 years , how is your phone?😂
I like how this was released before the Unpacked event even started lol
Haha that's mrwhosetheboss for you!

We watched and rewatched your review before my wife decided to buy the Flip4. Thankfully, expectations (based on your review) were realistic and she is very very happy with her phone. Of course, it helps muchly that:
1. the phone was free from a trade-in deal with the wireless company. She turned in her old S10 and got a spanking new Flip 4. What's not to like? Right?
2. In her professional world where almost everyone sports an iPhone, the Flip4 stands out like crazy. She's a teacher, so even the kids line up to take a peek.

@@npr1300A8 Wow an original Flip survivor! How has it been? Any more problems than film replacement? How did you deal with that?
@Hambert Hi Herbert. I jumped into the Z Flip 4! I've still got my original Z Flip for backup. I'm sure the fault mine has is easily repairable? Anyone who can answer this I'd be grateful. 👍🏻

lmao so true
I just got the Flip 4 and I absolutely love it!!
@@delilah28100why would he buy it then?
Watching this on Z Flip 3. I'm playing the game of 'find 10 difference between these 2 phones' now, almost no difference at all! The main upgrade they need to do is remove the crease, but they still don't know how to do that. I'll buy the new one when they manage to remove the crease
Surprised that a 12% increase in battery is not counted as a valid reason for upgrading, but hey, I agree, the crease IS the most important upgrade that a foldable needs right now.
True
@@itsmyright2229 I don't understand how anyone can care about the crease? It's basically like a notch, it disappears when you use the phone. Except it literally disappears because unless you're viewing off angle you can't see it
@@propersod2390 i agree with you, I got used to my flip3's crease, and it is indeed barely noticeable when using the phone. However, not having a crease at all would be even better
@@VictorioLopes well of course not having it would be better. But it being there isn't a big deal at all. I don't own a flip or fold, I did see them at a store though and I almost forgot the crease even exists
Arun you made me fall in love with Samsung and I can never ever use another type of a phone, you really give details in a unique way. Thumbs up 👍🏾
Your reasoning behind your review is fire !!! Wanting to stay more spiritually in tune and more present in the moment is EXACTLY why I got this phone your opinion is very encouraging to me that I made right decision
1:00 imagine getting hit again by a tram or something lol
Don't buy this phone it's a scam!!! If you drop it from waist height with a case on it they will void the warranty and ask for $660 CAD to fix the screen. Research, I think there is a class action lawsuit pending in Poland again Samsung for their foldable phones.

7:44 what you say about Samsung with flip phones is probably 100% on point I remember me and my mates bickering about the first foldable Samsung made and I said yeah it’s stupid prices but think about in 5-10-15 years time where foldables will start becoming mainstream cause they get so good Samsung will be at the front in price and quality, surprised apple hasn’t tried getting on with it too with this mindset just in case
yeay. and then folding iphone will cost $3000 😂
@@rixyrohaizie these jokes dont make sense any more there are multiple android flagships costlier than iphone.
Apple is a very late trend setter. They wait for other brands to perfect the tech and then they release it just like that.

I think Samsung should implement secondary display below camera instead of beside it to make it a little bigger in next generation.
You can change clocks and add up to 7 apps I believe on outside screen

Thanks for a video like this....i believe you've gone away for these kinds of videos and I'm glad to see this from you!
Now this looks promising! I'll wait a few years more and maybe my next phone will be a flip phone like this. I can especially see the mindfulness if they let you restrict the outer screen!
This is an ultimate device from Samsung ❤️ most fascinating feature of this device is it's display and fold. Love to have this device in my hand ❤️❤️

Are you going to fund this lol.
Now that's a phone. Major step-up from the flip, the slide, and the classic flat. Haven't seen a smartphone look that gadgety in a while.
the quality of production in this video is mindblowing. I guess most are so immersed in the content, that they do not notice how planned the whole editing process was
4:29 I actually did it while I was at a Samsung Experience Store.
