I have basically no control what the teleport distance is going to be, but every frame has its own teleport distance. I can wait a frame to potentially get a different teleport distance. RNG in this game is reseeded at the start of level, presumably for online multiplayer. This means that if you input the exact same inputs in the same seed in 2 runs, they will play out the same because the starting RNG is the same. The TAS is just playing back inputs, so the same things happen every time the TAS is played back.
How long has the underthefloor hundun been known about??? I found out about it a few weeks ago I think and posted a video about it, but I didn't know if it was already known about.
I've known about getting under the Hundun spikes for so long that I don't remember if I discovered it independently or heard it from someone else. It apparently wasn't well known to the speedrun community, as some runners did not know about it. After doing a small amount of digging in the Spelunky Community Discord, I found a Reddit post from Dracibatic from March 5, 2021 about teleporting under the spikes, so they were probably one of the first people to figure that out. www.reddit.com/r/spelunky/comments/lyvbf7/teleporting_out_of_bounds_in_olmecs_43_and_hunduns/
I went below the spikes. Hundun's crushing elevator (internal object name) is eight tiles tall, while a max downward teleport is nine tiles. There is a floor down there, and I also stood on the entrance door platform to quickly get back into the level. I went down there purely for entertainment as the level is an autoscroller.
Every frame basically has its own teleport distance. Waiting a frame can potentially change how far a teleport will go. This allows almost complete control, but there were times I had to wait many frames for the distance to change. Also, the randomness is seeded, so playing the exact same inputs into a seed will give the same results every time.
Do I understand it right that TAS is used like a video editing software? You play the game yourself, and use TAS to edit the gameplay pieces and glue them together. So everything is done manually, there is no decisions made by TAS itself? I must admit I would be more excited if TAS was allowed to search for better inputs automatically. At least to locally optimize a playthrough done by human.
basically a tas just means you can use some tools to help like frame by frame and savestates so its a human doing this but they are doing all the imputs frame by frame
Tas isnt really a thing it just stands for tool assisted speedrun and thats what it is, tas isnt a software or anything its just the terminology for a speedrun using help from other things.

_brrt brrt brrt brrt_
“Oh, that’s why.”
This is what I picture in my head while using the telepack, in the seconds between when picking it up and exploding.
Absolute legend 💪
This made me crack up hahahahaha
i dont think i could beat this
Nah you got this
Yeah you just gotta put a little backbone into it
Just memorize all the inputs the Tas did and try doing the same inputs
Multiple hundreds of likely frame perfect inputs is light work 😴
I can’t even beat the main game😭😭
This is what peak Spelunky looks like
*Time breakdown:*
15% Pre-Hundun
13% Hundun fight
72% CO
Thats literally just telepack abuse tho, not Spelunky the way its intented to be played
I don't know if I was getting teleporter asmr but I started falling asleep to this video
If they ever made a Spelunky pinball machine, this is what it would play like

How does the TAS force the TP distance?
Very fun to watch, especially the Hundun fight.

Interesting. I wasn’t sure but I had figured it out on my own while using overlunky. It was a pretty cool discovery for me.
how are u whipping so fast? 2:24
probably frame perfect TAS whipping
@@IEatSandForSport I get that, but don't you usually have to finish the whip animation before being able whip?
My best guess is that the teleporting lets you immediatly Imput a whip right after, seemingly canceling the whip while the animation is still there.
i am guessing rng manipulation was a part of this
gg!
would it be faster to teleport around the screen wrap than to manuever 1 tile
Why does it take so long to kill hundun

Is the distance of each tp predefined in the seed?

I takes me more than 5 minutes to beat 1-1 cuz i die one or two times.
This can’t be real. The teleport is RNG

A tas is more telling the computer what to do every single frame. It is not so much playing yourself but telling a computer how to do it.
