I think my favorite part was when you stuck fifty bombs to your plasma cannon in 7-4 and sent it rocketing up toward the top of the level and then it just fell directly on your head like a cartoon
I mean, the score runs do something similar, just with more caution since they don't have TAS's ironclad assurance that nothing they do will kill them.
I was looking forward to the plasma/power/climber quilin skip the whole time, did not dissapoint. What a fun TAS to watch. always love when some style is thrown in, like "I know its a TAS that won't fail, but how can you survive THIS situation"
0:18 For anyone wondering, IN 2 SECONDS, he picked up the Telepack, threw it in the air to avoid it being shot at by Tun, therefore damaging it and causing it to teleport either telefraging him or killing him via explosion of teleporting into a wall. Then he picked up the Teleporter, teleported out of the shop which angered Tun, causing her to immediately shoot at Monty which is why he was poisoned, then he teleports back into the shop which telefrags Tun, then he teleported back out of the shop, put down the Teleporter, picked up Monty, and left.
He has the true crown, Wich makes you teleport the way you are looking for 20 bombs (I think that they are 20) so every 15 seconds or so he is teleporting
If you enter from the sides instead of the front I think she just doesn’t care, and sense it was a jetpack exploding by an “accidental” lamp falling she didn’t Agro to that either
Amazing run Spencer. Quick question, is teleporting, via telepack, teleporter, or true clown, truly random? Or can it be manipulated based on time or location?
Teleport RNG (random number generation) is basically every frame has a unique teleport distance. Waiting frames can change the distance of a teleport (so a TAS has full control, while real-time cannot). An actual mechanic in the game is that having a four-leaf clover makes all teleports you do max distance, so that can be controlled in real-time. The teleport distance RNG value is also used by other things, but I don't have a full understanding of what also uses that RNG value. An extra note about RNG is that it is reseeded at the start of every level (likely a multiplayer thing), so playing back the same inputs for two runs on the same seed makes it play back the same way every time.
The game has an ownership system to determine who gets the blame for kill credit and shop vandalism. Presumably because stunned enemies can be thrown, a stunned entity that hits something will not place the blame on the stunned entity, but instead on the one who threw the stunned entity. By getting hit by the frog trap spear, the game considered the player object to be owned by the spear. By having the player's bomb explode while they are stunned and owned by the spear, the ownership calculation check for the shop vandalism sees that the bomb is owned by the player, but the player is stunned and owned by something else, so it then places the blame on the owner of the player, which is the spear. This allows pacifist kills and not angering shop vendors even when it really looks like the player should be blamed.
@@Spencer_PK thank you for detailed answer! i have about 800hrs in this game and didnt know it, but Spelunky still surprises me with its mechanics. Now i want to test it on fall damage, yellow lizards and other enemies and possible stuns and even in real runs! Wonder what else i dont know about this game)
@@bac3k573 You mentioned testing it with fall damage and there's something extra with that. Getting hit by an enemy will tag you as owned by the enemy (even if you don't get stunned). Landing on the ground while stunned is what will make the game clear whatever ownership is tagged to you. Back to the fall damage idea, timing an explosion when you get stunned from a fall will only work if something is tagged as owning you, so you must get hit by something like a snake before, then do the fall and stun. Also, if you try to use this tech with an entity and it doesn't exist when ownership blame gets calculated, then you will get the blame.
Ownership is the mechanic behind kill blame and angering vendors. When you throw a bomb, you are tagged as the owner, and will be blamed for the damage it causes. When the Sun Challenge was destroyed, the game saw that I owned the bomb, so an ownership chain begins and jumps to the player entity. The game then sees that the player is stunned and has the owner tagged as the Frog Trap's spear, so the ownership chain then jumped to the spear. The game then considers the spear as the entity who destroyed the shop, and because that is not a player, the player does not get blamed. This "stun ownership passthrough" mechanic only works if the player is stunned and owned by something else when the the game tries to blame the player. This tech can be used to do other things like get pacifist kills even if you really should be the one getting the blame.
That one hired hand who I gave my bow to:
I'm obviously biased, but this run deserves over 1 million views. City of Gold was bonkers!
I agree with this guy!
I love how he basically said "oh you thought i was gonna do it" with the CoG Kali Altar

same
0:27 I like how the shopkeeper didn’t even shoot past the initial shot. He just escorted you to the door.
He keeps trying to throw her but keeps missing his grab every time
blud gave up
nah the recoil lava dodge at 7:13 is crazy. I'm subbing.
do you think this run was done by a real person?
@@BW24239it’s a TAS, which means the inputs were assembled frame by frame, and then they were all played back in real time.
Gotta love how the tas just CARPET BOMBED the city of gold, like bro was out for blood

one of the most satisfying spelunky 2 videos that exists
nice bubble skip 💀
*dropped the phone*
Me: I hope it's not cracked!
The phone:
Dang
damn, i didn't know a phone was capable of a supernova
I’d never even heard of a tool assisted superplay! But this is genuinely one of the most impressive things I’ve seen out of the spelunky community
i love the part at 3:37, just sitting calmy before throwing bombs everywhere
no way hi tilly
TAS runs are always so ridiculous and fun to watch! The tiamat skip is insane!
You bombed tun shop, you entered with true crown and she didnt get mad
I sometimes forget that the hypothetical skill ceiling for this game is located at the same place the game itself is
5:54 i felt physical pain when they picked up a ruby
wait what- ah ahr afhieodwnjiwdebhuigdedouinjiwebdhuhedjklwdnedndi

even with the details, this vexes me.
This tas was hilarious, entertaining, and impressive. Great piece of work. I love the absolute insanity of this tas so much.
this is probably the best video to ever be created ever
I loved this! Really sick 6-4 skip
4:20 that sarcrifice was insane
7:12bros so damn quick he goes faster then lava physics
7-4 had to be the highlight of the run, absolute peak TAS right there
1:48 is the sickest combo ever.
7:04 this is how the game is supposed to be played
Average neobab tbh
10:41 THE SNAKE REGRETS IT.
Spencer you're having way too much fun with this.
that olmec stage was coolest ever
incredibly cathartic and impressive
I think that is the most insane video game thing that I have ever seen.
The whole transition to stage six is crazy…
Bros movements remind me of the spelunky 1 death match bots😂
Gotta love how the TAS Makes you move As Erratic and Reckless as the Shopkeeper when they see you
10:23 placed exactly 50 powerbombs in less than 3 seconds
This is really fun to watch
City of gold tickled my brain
this is hilarious, I love it
This looks the you had SO much fun making it
Can anyone here explain how he was able to teleport without a teleporter of any kind at 2:35 ???
He has the true crown, Wich makes you teleport the way you are looking for 20 bombs (I think that they are 20) so every 15 seconds or so he is teleporting
You get it by destroying Kali's altar 3 times in a row
This is awesome
he just has a really good gaming chair
Can I ask why didn't Tun get angry when you have TC ?
If you enter from the sides instead of the front I think she just doesn’t care, and sense it was a jetpack exploding by an “accidental” lamp falling she didn’t Agro to that either
YOU ARE CRAZYY!! 😱😱 I can't do even a fraction of this!!
I love your videos
Nah bro your moves are too skilled i’m busting
the funny part it took me 25 seconds to find out is tas because spelunky player are just that good.
8:47 The ominous music isn’t for the level
Its for the massacre the tas is about to create
wow this guy is really good
The memiest video I’ve seen in a while with spelunky..
Can I ask why at 5:30 he got more bombs? Can't see how and would like to know :)
True crown gives bombs every teleport
And the amount is always 22
Nice ! What a ride
8:02 very suspicious lasers headbumping

Why Tun didnt aggro on blowing up a bomb in sunken city?
this is peak spelunking

what have i just witnessed

How did tun not aggro while he has true crown?
How is this even possible wth

Wh- wha- I- h- ...I don't understand what I just watched
Ohhhhhh.
Why was Tun fine with you blowing up the outside of the sun challenge? Some weird glitch? Or does she just not get angry and I didn't know?
Ownership is the mechanic behind kill blame and angering vendors. When you throw a bomb, you are tagged as the owner, and will be blamed for the damage it causes.
