I finally tried a perm rod set the way you said by making sure my hair was really moisturized, and my results have never been this good. It actually has some nice shine to it. I still struggle to get it super smooth at my roots, but I'm still happy. Thank you!

Ain’t Jackie’s quench is everything!!! One of my favorite leave-ins! I also love they’re Knot Today! detanlgler!!! Aunt Jackie’s have it on lock with the leave-ins/detanglers! Also I LOVEEEEEEE Marshmallow root. I bought the dried herb and sometimes I make a simple leave-in with that and slippery elm bark. Sooooo much slippage! Legit melts your tangles ❤️
So true about not cramming rods in. I have fine, thin strands and when I first tried a perm rod set, I use extremely thin sections to fit a lot of rods in because the videos I've seen, the people always have alot. It made my hair look stringy because of the extremely thin sections so I didn't think perm rod sets worked for my density. But now I see that I should've did bigger sections and use maybe a medium or smaller sized rod than the one I used! BTW results were gorgeous as always!

Yes Daye I do believe that too, the key is if your hair likes a certain ingredient your hair comes out bomb no matter what you do. My hair loves loves loves Babassu, Mango and Baobab if these ingredients are high in the ingredient list my hair will be & stay moisturized, be shiny , soft and just damn behave period! From your suggestion of starting a hair diary, so far I've learnt that my hair dislikes coconut oil and glycerin and it really like avocado oil, btms and slippery elm and doesnt mind coconut water It really is helpful in knowing which products to purchase I'll definitely wanna see a comparison just because I feel like i wasted my time trying knotless braids 🙁

My permrods use unravel good and hair style last all day now it just gets caught and it gets messed up I dont know when I use oil it weight down my hair But alwaya love watching you do a permrod set 😍
Oh no! Sounds like you may need a trim if they're getting caught up. And you can solve that oil question easily. Take a few wash days, alternate applying your oil between different times (ex: after your leave-in conditioner on day or after your styler, before the leave in, before your moisturizer), and see what works best and then you'll know.

Thanks! And every time I color, my texture changes lol. Color damages curls, my hair is just overprocessed from years of coloring it non stop. The shade didnt make a dif.

Daye what am I doing wrong? Once I separate my curls, they look like finger coils. I tried the green rods, the black rods, and the little pink ones. Maybe I need to stretch my hair first? Your hair always looks beautiful!
