Still too much work for me but I gotta do it one way or another. I purchased my rod set in 2020 when I wasn't able to go to the salon due to Covid but then my stylist started doing hair in her home. Now it's summer and she is super booked and too damn hot for wigs. Great tutorial video. Thank you for taking the time to do this
I attempted a rod set yesterday before watching this and it was a FAIL! I did everything you said NOT to do. Lol. I will know next time! Thank you for the tips! ♥️👌🏾
Thank you for this! I almost made a hair appointment but now I'm feeling confident to do this myself. My perm rods were okay before but with these tips...phenomenal!
You explained this so perfectly. I grew up wearing rods since the 90s and learned a long time ago how to do them myself AND get the roots straight as possible. The key to that is simply, don’t put much hair on the rod so the heat from the dryer can penetrate all strands. And my hair is thick. You are awesome sis!!
I know this is 3 years old but I needed this refresher. I always been good at rod sets haven’t done one in years but I’m doing one now I’m doing white in the back orange in the front to get a heart shape
The rules of a perm rod set are a lot like a 1950s roller set (wet set or dry set) when the ladies use to do their hair in roller sets or pin curls. Almost the exact same rules. When my hair was relaxed (natural now) I use to do roller sets every night. It was my favorite hair style. The only thing I did that was different was that I rolled my hair at a higher angle 📐 pointed upward like my arm to get higher volume. If I rolled the roller at a lower angle then I would have less volume. And my setting lotion was the texture ID but I was allergic to the fragrance so I use the one with the Afro on the bottle, The doux mousse def texture foam.
I love how stern you are with these instructions! 😂 I can't wait to try this next wash day. Thank you for going into great detail and you are gorgeous! Peace, love, and hair grease ❤️
Girl yes. Thank you for sharing because this is exactly what I needed. I been natural for 3 years now. And I'm getting to the point where i just dont want to wear wigs, i want to rock my natural hair. I love how this came out and the video was super helpful. Thanks girly💕
Every time I perm rod mine or my daughters hair I watch your videos just to follow along and be sure I’m doing them right. I definitely think your subbies could use a mastering natural hair series! Had I not stumbled onto your page when I did the big chop I’d probably still be bald headed 😂
Yes I want to grow my hair n stop putting it in a ponytail or bun.. I'm now 39, no wonder ppl are so confused.. I'm really healing wow.. like this is the best video that has encouraged me to take better care of myself and my hair! Thank youu for this thorough tutorial! 💯🥹🙏🏽
I'm finally just embracing my curls (at 30😭) and I just want to say thank you. I never properly learned how to style/maintain my curls (I tried, it just wasn't working out) and straightening just seemed easier... Your videos are SO helpful
Thank you so much for this video. My perm rod sets always come out frizzy. Hopefully the next time I try out this style it'll come out perfect. God bless, Jesus is coming back soon!
I JUST READ ABOUT 📚 your videos are so inspirational .I have seen two of them already love ❤ how you take your time ⏲ and taking on how you can look good and fell gorgeous 😍 ❤ I have a lot of perm rods I love the big orange ones I got . and will be doing my hair today . I've been wearing it natural For
Perm rod set’s were my go to style as a loose natural more so now that I’ve loc’ed my hair. After watching this, I’m ready to cut my hair and go loose again. I miss my bushy curls.
Love this detailed tutorial🥰 Your rod sets are always beautiful. Now if my lazy behind can be patient I am sure I can can work this out. But that shine on your hair🔥🔥
Oooh, I needed this tutorial yesterday. I threw the rods in my hair and curls did not come out right. I didn't go through again to make it straight and I didn't roll it right. 🤦♀️ Thanks sis for this. I shall master this style!
This video is great. Originally when I started going natural I used your videos to do perm rod sets on my transitioning hair but now that I’m fully natural I’ve had a harder time. Thank you for this video it was very detailed. Love the new color too.
Thank you for this! My birthday is on Monday and want to do a cute style. I did perm rods before and they came out well but I struggled to get the technique down. Tried again and it was a disaster. Hoping this way works out for me! It seems a lot easier than the other methods I’ve seen.
Girl, Imma try this as I got to do something with this pandemic head of mines. I never done a perm rod set in my life but Imma try it along with the products you mentioned. I'll keep you posted!
Whenever I need natural hair tips I come to you. Even though I have high porosity hair I just alter the technique to fit my hair and it never disappoints. ❤️❤️
Caribbean Goddess products I use or the way I layer the products or different products in general. I know for sure ignited and copy exactly what she does it won’t come out the same and I’ll end up disappointed so I need to try different techniques and see which works and what doesn’t
You nailed it. Your last perm rod video helped also. But sleeping with the perm rods was a killer. The next day compliments flourished so it was worth it.
I never tried a rod set. I guess because I'm always in single braids under my wigs. Your hair came out 💣. I think that you will look pretty with red hair too.
Thank you!! I was good at curling my locs with perm rods or sponge rollers but I have yet to perm rods my loose natural hair. Curls are my favorite style, so I’ll definitely have to try this. Also get that product line, I already have the no shrink gel and I love it.
Hi love your videos. I know you go to the gym. Were you able to maintain this look for a week? And if you did can you should use your gym routine to maintain your styles for a week. I am struggling with this
Thank you! Hair is gonna do what hair is gonna do when it gets damp/wet, regardless of if it’s moisture from sweat or whatever. I personally don’t mind frizzy, textured hair, I think is Beautiful, so I don’t do anything, I’ll just pineapple it after while. Either you can find the beauty in it or you can protective style or style your hair more often.
Guuuurl :) thank you so much for this, I can't wait to try it with all of the juicy tips!!! You are the GOAT at perm rod sets. ( I bow down) and your next color is red!
I would be interested in a mastering natural hair tutorial 🙋🏽♀️ I am better than when I initially started but I am terrible at perm and especially twisty rod sets. And my hair reverts super easy if I do foam on blown out hair sooo. I'm a one trick pony. I would love to learn something else
@@DiscoveringNatural I have not. 🙁 my regular 2 strand twists comes out puffy. I am not good at it. 🙈 I do okish at the wave formers..but they are so time consuming

I get a perfect rod set every time but I swear it last me like 2 days at most. How are y’all making them last 7-10 days!!!!!
Ikr.. the humidity was like.. how you doing? 😩😂😂
My hair only last two days when I use mousse lasts a week when I use gel and leave in
My roller sets lasts me only a week that’s a wet dream right there for a roller set to last for 10 days 🤨😳😀
Use better products, bantu knot and wear a bonnet when laying down.
@@thanksmaddytv815 wouldnt bantu knots change the curl pattern
This is definitely a method to follow.. The results are incredible.
