Guys, I really love Maya but what baffles me is fact that for so many years viewport is not fully compatible with Arnold. So when I use simple mix node in viewport all I see is dark blob. You want to make life of artists easier? Please fix that finally. How I suppose to work faster if I need to create two shaders - one for rendering one for viewport - for no reason? Also props for working with 3ds max team - please borrow some modeling improvements from them for feature releases :) Maya is really fantastic software - keep at it.

Rigging and Animation process in Maya is better than Blender, the interface is faster but not perfect, the documentation is more through, there are some stuff I wish they add, 1-Full support for GPU render in Arnold some proceadurals don't work in Arnold GPU. 2-Faster interface 3- More polished interface 4-Bevel modifier. 5-Joining Mudbox to Maya to make it seamless.

The issue with Arnold 7.x is that Procedurals that share materials crashes GPU mode. It's been the biggest hurdle for my team, we've had to batch rename materials and isolate every object that might turn into a procedural for render time so that it can be given unique shader names. We didn't have this issue in Arnold 6.x, and hopefully it's fixed for 8.x whenever that comes out.

Do NOT switch to Maya. My license expires at the end of this month and I am not renewing it. Maya is so ancient, clunky, and slow that I'm willing to learn Blender from the ground up.
Maya is at least 7-10 years behind Blender and Houdini. I used to hate the idea of using Blender because using Maya felt "elite", but it's become very clear to me now that it's not worth a single penny of my money, and even if it was free I don't know if I'd still use it.

I am switching to Blender!" and every Blender release people say "WOW! AMAZING! So many new features! It will soon take over!". And none of these things is actually happening :D Blender for many, many years has massive updates and still isnt actually good. It has sculpting - nowhere near ZBrush. It has video editor - nowhere near Davinci Resolve. It has fantastic grease pencil that you will probably never use unless you are 2D animator - and in this case why the hell use 3D software... It has geometry nodes - nowhere near what Houdini can do. And it has BILLION plugins because ever bloody aspect of it needs fixing with plugin. Maya does not pretend to be everything. It is very good at what it does. Here and now. Not in some imaginary future like in case of Blender.

Maya is actually great for animation but I’ve always found it’s interface 1999 and it is confusing for everything else, no innovation, I can make godly works with blender at a whim, even can use Vray there, outside of the stability of 3ds max autodesk has lost their touch, blender is far more capable, and if I’m going to wake 12 hours for a render I’m not gonna pay thousands.

yeah, Blender with its CONSTANT tweaking UI so every release you need to look for well known feature, because they decided to move it somewhere. One of devs thought it might be better. Then in the next release bringing it back because turns out it wasnt better after all. And then in the next one moving it somewhere else once more because maybe there will be better :D And so on. Yes, fantastic experience. And so modern! So modern in fact that you cant just make a button without writing bloody plugin. Oh, so good! Laughable. I feel like people who write nice things about Blender didnt actually used that always unfinished platform for plugins...

@@tlilmiztli blender has made minimal major changes from 3.0 to 3.6 in the UI, until 2.76, blender was pretty much consistent, with this said, I don't like the old versions of blender very much because they prioritize features that are not useful to me and make hotkeys difficult, much like early autodesk software, where you'd see a VHS tape of some guy saying he spent 4 months modelling a human because there is literally no hotkeys for 50% of the stuff that there now is in modern 3ds and blender. I used to be an autodesk purist and also used the program inventor which I found pretty great, but blender is leaps and bounds ahead now of anything autodesk has outside of poly count handling.

I regret spending 2 years studying dying software. I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone; it's a dinosaur crap, the viewport is incompatible with Arnold Render, constant crashes, low-level usability, and a bunch of pitfalls. In the modern world, there are already plenty of free services and programs that are 10 years ahead of Maya. Big studios have adapted Maya for themselves, but for regular users, it's impossible to work in it, especially without plugins! And finally, fix the damn Hypershade. Stop procrastinating, rewrite the old dirty code, and make a simpler interface, especially for simulations; otherwise, the program will die in the next 5 years. It's great when plugins around the program are developed, but everyone needs optimization of the program itself.

Where’s sculpting updates? Where’s modelling updates? Where’s shading updates? Where’s XGen updates? There’re so many great third party plugins and scripts that enhance modeling, grooming, shading experience. But why don’t we have those updated by autodesk? Why are we still have many regular useful tools in Bonus Tools? What’s bonus in it? Why it’s still not implemented in standard interface? Maya is such a great 3D software but in the hands of such pathetic scammers!!! AUTODESK!! SELL MAYA TO THE COMPANY WHICH WILL TRULY WORK ON ITS IMPROVEMENTS!!!!
