Hey guys, this video is clearly filmed in the summer (would love to be cycling in a strappy top in November 😂). Due to the SD card error we’ve only just managed to edit this one! We hope you enjoy and the next video will probably be us exploring the Manchester Christmas Markets! Let us know in the comments if you’ve ever done the Monsal Trail before? We may go back and revisit on foot this winter!
My grandad worked at Hassop until he retired in 1955. He used to be foreman of the track gang maintaining the right of way between there and Gt. Longstone. I remember when there were trains running on here. Steam even🙃
Thought it was in the summer lol with the top abby great vlog guys very interesting great views there is alot of good railway walks looks like gaz enjoyed his pint looking forward to the next vlog guys xx
Looks like you had a great time there. I steer clear of the Monsal Trail as I get fed up of dodging cyclists 🤣. If you’re in the area again with the walking boots, I’d highly recommend dropping down into Monsal Dale and walking over to Ashford in the water. It’s a fab walk
Interesting story for you. A few years ago, I was walking through Headstone tunnel with my other half and we stopped to examine parts of the tunnel walls which were still covered in soot remnants. I then heard the faint voices of a large group of men singing rudolph the red nosed reindeer (it was September), yet there was nobody around. I can best describe it as really hearty singing like in films of old times with men singing around a fire. I dismissed anything spooky at first because I assumed that song was far too modern to have been around when the railway was still operating. However, I later discovered that the song was released in 1948 and the railway didn't close until the 60's! Spooky!
Never visited the monsal trail but it looks a good one! That tunnel does look a little spooky! To be fair those like kilns were pretty impressive, you see them a lot dotted around the coast but they dont look anything like that!
Just come across your channel love the video i need to give that trail ago later this year. Thanks you sharing you have another sub loved the content looking forward to watching your other videos. Take care.
I have done the Monsal Trail. It's a great ride. But if I may be so bold......crash helmets. You need to wear them. I know you're only going slowly, but if you do come off the bike, you'll protect your head. A wise thing. Also, it's part of the bike thing. A helmet and a Camelbak hydration bag. Enjoy your cycling, but do it safely.
In the tunnels, if you go to the walls on he side, you can still find coal from the steam trains! Oh and btw, for 19 quid I would have expected a bike, not them things you were riding!! lol!!
