The Xiaomi Mi motion activated night light 2 Bluetooth edition comes as a big surprise with a low price. Although looking simple it provides advanced working options by combing the light intensity sensor and the motion detection. This can be fully integrated with Xiaomi smart home environment, while the BT connectivity can be picked up by you hub gateway and sent to the cloud.
Probably the last bastion of available smart home gadgets:

Can you set the timespan that it is "active", for example I don't want it to turn on any time before 23:00 at night.

Hi! This is the best review so far. Thank you!
Did I understand it correctly that if I want to create an automation process (for example, I want the Night Light’s motion sensor to turn on the Bedside Lamp when motion is detected), I need to a have a HUB at home as well?
Yes, that is correct, for automation that uses at least two devices you need to have a hub. That will store the commands and will do the work. It will also provide the connectivity between various protocols such as zigbee, bluettoth and wifi as various devices use various protocols.
@@TechTronic9000thank you for your response, that makes a lot of sense! By any chance, can you recommend any hubs? It looks like Quingping is one of the compatible hubs and also a cheap one 😀
I prefer to use Xiaomi / Aquara hubs as they have good compatibility and work nicely with Mi Home automation, for instance this newer model has a lot of connectivity protocols and is supported by Mi Home s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DmgKgez
Great Review!!, thanks for share. Quick question, to check the log is mandatory to have a Hub? Thanks!!
Do you need the home hub or can you just operate it via the app?
It can operate directly via the app. If you have a HUB with BT you can also control and check it online from anywhere.
Can you group or synchronize two or more of these via gateway? For exaple if one detects motion other also turn on?
You can use it as a trigger sensor with various condition such as movent and ambient light but they can not be trigger by an automation program.
Great review!
There is button for on/off ? or its working only with sensor?
at 2:48 you can see the switch that he used to turn it on.
The light of the lamp cannot be turned on or off - its always on and in low light conditions it always turn on when something moves
Is this integratabtle into home assistant? E.g. via the BLE Chip on the Raspberry Pi?
It doesn’t work to integrate it via BLE (like the Mi LYWSD03MMC temperature sensors). It can be integrated through Xiaomi Miot Auto, but you initially need a Xiaomi HUB and the Mi Home app. Then, Home Assistant will import all devices from Mi Home
Thanks for the clarification. I don't use home assistant.
@@TechTronic9000 You could give it a try. It's never too late. Plus, Home Assistant offers many more possibilities to integrate sensors and devices from different brands.
Can it be used all the time like if ar all there is no motion?
It has a timer and shuts off when there is no motion.
How long does battery last
As an ideea the lamp from this video is still working today on the same set of batteries, it is set at minim brightness and the longest period of ON. It gets triggered roughly 10 times / night.
How to make it work always? I dont want use the sensor at all.
Not possible.
