    What a time we had! ^^
    Read more below about modding.
    Hi all, so a little extra about modding & mods are using for DAO right now:
    In my DAO playlist here on RUclips I think you can find already useful vids: ruclips.net/p/PLyaxWOw0XkZ2c2RYuUBftk6LMGQg-V9bD&si=L6lAQJAzKIXhKlLG Like this guide: ruclips.net/video/as6cmsQVgto/видео.html or for example this video as well:
    ruclips.net/video/8Jdgs15W9pg/видео.html
    I use various unofficial patched, fixes, tweaks and texture modifications, texture replacers, whole new set of weapons, armours, clothes too, plus have new, fan made quests as well & so on. :)))
    In general you need the 4 GB patch for the DAO exe file to make sure the game can run in a more stable manner. The fix pack is also a must have, here you can find: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4689 Also, when you start to mod your game, please make yourself a favour and if a mod asking to OVERWRITE the original file(s) of your copy of DAO than BEFORE THAT make sure, you make copy of that file or files in a different folder. So, if something goes wrong later in your game with the mod files, you can simply just overwrite them with the copies of the original files you saved before... That's all in a nutshell the modding part. If you wanna do even more smart way this whole modding thing, the newly installed mods you can put in different folder, like new folder 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 & so on (or you can even date the folders where you store your downloaded mods, that's even better), so it may help to easier backtrack of which new mod cause any conflicts with your previously installed ones. Long as you read the descriptions of every mods plus follow them, doing modding in a organised fashion, it's fun, and have great results. Hope it's helps, game ON! :)

    Origins doesn't sound preachy BUT Veilguard does

    This is a conversation about gender identity, but it's not ham-fisted and fits the setting and characters perfectly. Modern games shoehorn in conversation about gender that feel like they were ripped straight from a San Francisco living room. Looking at you, Veilguard...

      The implications of what gender is also completely different from modern gender ideology. For Shayle it is tied to body, Golem doesn't have a female body, therefore “it” doesn't have a gender, not to mention Shayle doesn't seem to give a f*ck about if it was male or female, just the fact that it was a different thing.

    This isn’t even a conversation about gender identity. The concept of gender identity used nowadays was barely relevant in 2009/10, and for most people nonexistent. Nobody in 2009 interpreted this scene as a conversation about gender transitioning. The writing here was not intended to allude to relevant social topics like transgenderism, and You can tell because you can make girl jokes to Shale, and it’s not presented as morally evil, but a simple bit of humor. The point isn’t that shale transitioned from a female to nonbinary, because 99% of people at the time would have laughed at the impossible notion. The point is that golems wouldn’t have gender because they’re rocks, and it’s comedic that within the masculine voice and rocks is the spirit of a female dwarf.

      X2 shale is a rock even before we found out she was female everyone referred to her as a golem or used the “it” in the game.
      something I find curious is how that community now wants to change shale and say that she is trans and non-binary.
      on the steam forums with all the veilguard crap I've seen people even inventing that she became a golem because she had “gender dysformity” something that never happens in the gamee and I would even say it's an insult to her character.

      Since when her voice is masculine? It was always clear it is HER not HIM or nonbinary nonsense. She was voiced by older female actress that passed few years ago. How you can even call that voice masculine? Wtf.

    Actually, Origins brings up a LOT of social and political themes but it does this in a smart and lore accurate way, the racism against the elves and Lanaya lines when you answer that some humans regret what they did and she questions that if they regret, why they don't do nothing about it? (and many other things that happen in the Dalish Camp) the political game between the chantry, the mages and the templars many comparisons can be made with our political system in real life, the right wing vs left wing in the dwarves main quest and the way they let you decide what you think is best without inducing or demanding you to choose side A or B. In Veilguard it's a mess out of the universe setting, out of touch, out of context, it's a caricature, an unrealistic way to represent things that actually exist.

      Orzammar's politics always made me think of the Russian civil war, Harrowmont wanting to keep the status quo vs Bhelen ruthlessly dragging dwarves into the modern world by force

    I cannot believe Shale and Taash exist in the same world.
    Shale is such a well written character. And one of my favorites in Origins (well, almost everyone is my favorite in Origins 😂).
    Taash is one of the worst characters in the franchise.

      The people who wrote Taash are just weird. The type of people you avoid usually.

    • @alannacrystal
      @alannacrystal 5 дней назад

      What's crazy is one of the writers for Taash, Patrick Weekes, wrote Solas. And both characters are in the same game as enemies. The difference in writing quality is night and day! Solas far outstrips that Qunari. If only Weekes had written Taash with that kind of quality or better yet, had Shale or Sten"s writers do it! Oh wait, those people aren't at Bioware anymore.

      @@alannacrystal Patrick Weekes went off the rails and never sought the appropriate professional help. His wikipedia page is very telling.

    • @smolin562
      @smolin562 5 дней назад +2

      @@alannacrystal Patrick is now a non-binary also with several statements made by Weekes a while back it is clear that Solas is more Gaider's product than his.
      It seems that he needs a lot of supervision and is not good enough to be the lead writer, with Taash it is clear that he couldn't help inserting himself with her and that made all her writing to suffer.
