The addition of the Samba elements on Chaos AD was a marked step as the band started pivoting towards their Roots. I remember when this first came out, it kind of confused us because it started to sound so different compared to the historical Death/Trash that we were used to from Sepultura. However, I remember listening to this album almost every day, and after seeing the band again live again they played this new stuff: it hit me and I internalized how awesome this new element was.
Igor, I just want you to know that back in the 80's Sepultura's 'Schizophrenia' was a cult release in Poland. There were no legal rights back then. They just broadcast it on the radio. Everything was copied on tapes. I took up the guitar back then. There were 'Sepultura's graffiti all around the walls of even small cities! When my friends and I got Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation, we stood up on the bed and pretended we were you, playing the guitars ! We used to try and read your and Max's addresses in Belo Horizonte to write you:)
Chaos AD is still hands down one of the best metal albums of all time. The apex of classic Sepultura. This was the culmination of all of the hard work they did and no one else sounded like them on this album. Refuse/Resist….still relevant.

Man i cant believe to this day i could just type a message to you that you could read!! Your playing Mr Cavalera, inspired me so much right from the start, its awesome to see you still thrash the shit outta your kit, i was like 13 when i watched live in barcelona and heared beneth the remains and arise. now i am 40 yrs old and it still carries all the enjoyment it did back then. Hearing those songs recorded is so much better than today, when you had to play it good from start to finish, nowadays you can punch in whatever or dont evwen have to really be able to play it, its all gone fake. but whaqt you did, and what inspired me to record and what i ended up doing was having to play it good all in one shot, or maybe if the money was there, the best of maybe three tracks, and the best went on the album. Thank you for all the inspiration. I am enjoying the episodes and look forward to the next one!!!!
