    To think that in a few months when these companies making mini pcs are able to get their hands on a 6900hs we will be able to have basically the same performance on just the tiny PC part without even a GPU, that's super exciting.

      The GPU performance of the APU’s will be equivalent to a GTX 1050 or 1050ti. Not impressive in 2022 however a great jump from Vega. It will make a nice small box for emulation and old games.

    • @FFXfever
      @FFXfever 2 года назад

      I'm just sad that those APU replaces low end gpu all together for amd. Many old systems will now have a finite life span despite being perfectly serviceable. thankfully, Intel does have a 75w card lined up, and seems to be targeting 1660super segment.

    That PCI connection port is such a good thing, I love to see port which can be divided in the middle, so it (one part of PCI) can be mounted in a laptop 24/7 and have little output spot under.

    If you're someone who just wants a simpler windows desktop that can do a bit of not-the-latest gaming this is a fun option. (I haven't looked at the combined price yet)
    Sweet!!
    Could you reconfigure the formfactor to ba as small as poss (for say a bartop arcade build) and do another video just on emu? :)
    EDIT: Looks like around $550 roughly with a new gt1030, so not a cheap option. Probably best for if you have some of those parts lying around.

    Bought one, worked for a day. PSU blew, it is not fit for purpose given the number ports rated at 24w max. The psu failure fried the unit, so left with a plastic door stop.. Whilst it was working performance was acceptable, but the constant noticeable high pitched fan noise was annoying. My original aim was to use the device as a NAS come media centre + xcloud streaming.
    Observed the unit ran very hot; with “core temp” temp monitor enabled at tjmax -5 deg, the unit shut down after a minute or so of running the cinebench benchmark with a 22c room temp. Idle temps were hitting 50C, normal use loads in the 90s. Learned my lesson, you get what you pay for. Observe there were no certification markings on the device, only on the psu.

      @@gvanderlee2703 I never said it was cheap. That is usually the way it works. The smaller and the more powerful a gpu is, generally the more expensive. Add in the fact that it has a relatively niche audience to begin with and you often get diminishing returns and it results and it becomes a pretty expensive piece of hardware.
      The main advantages I see it having over the gtx 1650 is the increase in memory and dlss.
      I wish someone would just release an lp 8gb rtx 3050ti card because that would be more ideal and probably more powerful and game ready than the rtx a2000 and probably a whole lot cheaper as well.

    • @_shadow_1
      @_shadow_1 2 года назад

      @@gvanderlee2703 The APU is a pretty cool and compact concept, but I like to have the flexibility to choose a cpu and gpu in a pc and having them somewhat thermally separated meaning that a heavy cpu and gpu task can run better at the same time. Also an apu can't be made with nVidia graphics. Laptop style integrated mini board options would be better than an apu in my opinon and could potentially fit in almost the same size form factor as an apu solution. Also the cpu and gpu would technically on separate pieces of silicon, which means greater surface area for cooling which equals better temps and performance.

    Hey ETA PRIME, I've always wondered, when using M.2 to PCI-X adapters like this, is there any performance loss, regardless of which graphics card is being used, or do you get full performance up to a certain point before the graphics card itself has a max output that exceeds the bandwith of the M.2 lane, thus limiting it?

    To correct what you said about N6000 being 15w (instead of 10w for N5195).
    In fact, N6000 is a 6W CPU even if able to go higher clock rate given the spec.
    But benchmark are giving N6000 more performant despite its lower TDP which is a bit surprising as it is the same 10nm process as the other.
