    A very well researched, well thought out, biblically supported, and cogent presentation of this subject. Thank you!

    I’ve heard interviews by two men who played in “worship bands” in evangelical charismatic churches who say they absolutely played to get an emotional response from the people. They manipulated the music to slowly rise into a crescendo and repeated the same sounds and lyrics over and over not realizing themselves they were creating a hypnotic environment. This is what you’ll notice at all “faith healer” style events. Unending, emotionally manipulative music eliciting a response of euphoria and psychosomatic healings.

    I grew up in a Pentecostal church, but I also have attended Baptist Church for some time as well.
    I can tell from experience that he is absolutely correct on the worship and singing from Pentecostal's or charmatics. Sing with Great Emotion, Dance, Clap, Smile 😂.
    Baptist Church sings just like the way this gentleman is speaking... Like someone is forceing him to read an teleprompter. They barely clap, sing, and definitely dont lift any hands... I believe that must be what is more pleasing to the Lord according to "certain individuals".
    My conclusion: Give me scripture reading and sermons from a baptist Church, but give me singing and Worship "according to who you ask" from a Pentecostal Church.
    I love Pentecostal music, but I love breaking down scriptures and the doctrines of Christ as well sooo... im a Hybrid I guess😂

      @olmanchaheine8889 That's completely fine. In today's time, it's difficult to find a biblical church.
      (My experience)
      People are very sensitive ..
      Baptist Church
      Pros - Preach Jesus
      Con - Skip over Sin and Repentance afraid to offend members(Because they will leave).
      Pentecostal
      Pro- Praise and Worship freely
      Cons- Only prosperity messages and skip over sin and repentance, afraid to offend members( because they will leave).
      Salary paid pastors really work for the people.
      Had a pastor-friend who told me they even critiqued how much eye contact he showed during the sermon 😆 🤣
      Conclusion: Teach your children the proper way to fear the Lord, Worship in Spirit and in Truth; Study; and teach them the Dangers of Sin and Consequences for rebelling against an Holy God! There is a True Church being built as we speak. Still go to church, just break down what may have been skipped during service at home 🏡

    Simple solution (and one that is practiced in a few churches): Begin with prayer, then the hearing of the Word, then music as an expression of worship having been in fellowship with God through prayer and the Scriptures. By saving the songs until last, you'll quickly find out who's there just for the music/experience and who is there for true worship and discipleship through prayer and teaching. (And I say this as someone who has been on a "worship team.")

    More like be filled with knowledge from God's word so you have correct emotion to worship and honor God. Worshipping god isn't singing songs. Worshipping God is how we conduct our Christian lives day to day . Let us not continually get confused about what is happening, especially in America, with music and false worship from that. Worship is what you do with God's word. Not the feelings that derive from raising your hands and singing.

    To he that has an eye, let him read.
    Psalm 150:1-6 ESV -
    1 Praise the LORD!
    Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens! 2 Praise him for his mighty deeds;
    praise him according to his excellent greatness! 3 Praise him with trumpet sound;
    praise him with lute and harp! 4 Praise him with tambourine and dance;
    praise him with strings and pipe! 5 Praise him with sounding cymbals;
    praise him with loud clashing cymbals! 6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!
    Praise the LORD!

    It always feels like I'm at a funeral and people sing like they're mourning. Their heart is definitely not in it. They act like they have nothing to sing gladly about, and without a heartfelt attitude and zeal for God I wouldn't call it worship. They don't even dare lift up their voices for fear they might wake up God or the person next to them. David bringing up the Ark with music instruments blaring and David dancing before the Lord with all his might. That's an example of worship. The spectacle embarrassed his wife., just like it would embarrass people in Protestant church services today. Is that what it means to be filled with the Spirit during a corporate worship service? Is that all inspired from being saved from sin and the wrath of God? God saves you - your response is to sing a hymn like a funeral dirge?
    I don't need to be moved by the word of God to inspire me to worship - I am already inspired by His continual presence and knowledge of His salvation from the time I wake up in the morning. We already read and reread the word of God and that's why we should be able to respond in worship instantaneously. We should constantly be filled with the Spirit speaking in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. We should be rejoicing always; praying unceasingly, and giving thanks in all circumstances. Our whole lives should be forms of worship including offering up our members in service to God.
    For me, music has nothing to do with it since I dislike christian music - I think it stinks, and it couldn't move or inspire me to do anything except perhaps take a nap. And the lyrics are atrocious. Take the first line of what follows from the psalm below: Do you think that ever happens in a Protestant or Catholic service? You will never hear anyone shouting for joy or worshiping with gladness in either of these places. Worship is a heart thing just as love and walking by the Spirit. Anytime you worship God the Holy Spirit is always ready to comply and join you. Basically, what you're guilty of is doing nothing but imitating the Roman Catholic mass minus the pasty wafer, and I left that tomb a long time ago.
    Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth!
    Worship the LORD with gladness.
    Come before him, singing with joy.
    Acknowledge that the LORD is God!
    He made us, and we are his.a
    We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
    Enter his gates with thanksgiving;
    go into his courts with praise.
    Give thanks to him and praise his name.
    For the LORD is good.
    His unfailing love continues forever,
    and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
    People enter His gates like they suddenly forgot they were saved; they do not worship with gladness; joy never enters the picture; they don't acknowledge God except to be present; they don't act like His people. And they can't wait to get out of there.

    As a musician that has played music for over half century ..55 years in total ...carnal music ..drug scene ....and then Christ came and took me out of the pit at the age of 21 ....I can say that this cheap deception of euphoria is another ploy by the enemy ..... Follow the guidelines of God and Jesus Christ in Scripture from the Apostle Paul for example ....Sing PSALMS , HYMNS AND SPIRITUAL SONG ..
    ..Make MELODY IN OUR HEART ...I get caught up in Contemporary Christian Tunes just like many of us do ..... but Christ should be the Center ... First Last and Everything in between ...
    The Old HYMNS and hymn writers were mostly theologians themselves..hired by the government .the Church or just wrote and many felt inspired by God as the the Scripture Writers were inspired

    Hello. I apologize that this is a bit off topic, but I have a question. If a woman leaves an abusive relationship, both parties at the time professing to be Christian but were really not as they were caught up in the type of "worldly Christianity " that exists, can she then remarry? It should be noted that before she left the relationship, she sought help from the church she attended and even convinced her husband to attend a marriage workshop. She sought help from other churches elders outside of her church when she could not get help. There was no help, but always the message that divorce is a sin. She eventually left when she began to fear for her children's safety as well. Since then, she has become a true Christian, while her ex has not. In fact, he has completely abandoned the family, and makes it clear that he hates her. It should be stated that while she left him and asked for a divorce, he was the one who did the actual divorce as she had no resources to do so. Would she be committing adultry if she remarried? She is not in a relationship and is keeping herself away from sexual immortality but finds single parenting quite challenging and has asked the question because she does not want to enter into sin. Is it possible to discuss divorce from this aspect?

      Definitely strengthen your 1 on 1 relationship with Christ first. If a man does not love his wife like Christ loves the church, as we read in ephesians 5 or has love like we read in first Corinthians 13 VS 4 to 7, then we have a problem.
      His lamp stand as a husband is then broken. If you're gonna try and find a man of God you need to Know God and who he is and what kind of man he wants For You

      Hey Kaya,
      I'm terribly sorry all this has happened to you, my heart goes out to you and I'll keep you in my prayers. If your husband has already divorced you then you're free (considering he's clearly demonstrated he isn't saved) because this would fall under the abandonment of an unbelieving spouse. And as follows, free to remarry
      If he hasn't yet divorced you, I don't want to sound prudish at all when I say this, but the Bible does only give two acceptable reasons for divorce, when an unbeliever leaves, and for adultery. Now, you certainly did the right thing leaving with your children, neither you nor the children should have had to deal with anything that wicked man did to you. Unfortunately it certainly could be argued that this would fall under the leaving unbeliever caviate for divorce, but I wouldn't run directly to that. The first thing I implore you to do is to try and find a good local church, one that will support you (and is Bible preaching and believing), and then join it. Then get aid from your church, ask them to help in the areas you need it, things you could ask for would be someone to watch the children when you're working, or a single mothers program or something like that, see what they have available and take advantage of it. Then with the help of your church try and get your husband help, and then be reconciled to him (if he gets better). If you've tried that enough times and it doesn't work and he refuses to change, talk with your elders and pastor whether they think divorce would be appropriate in this situation. If they say yes then pray long and hard and decide from there. But if he does change, forgive him and be reconciled to him in love.
      Here is a great article I would encourage you to read on the subject
      www.gotquestions.org/abuse-divorce.html
      Love and prayers from your brother in Christ,
      Mak

      This will makes more sense in the context of Catholicism and the annulment process. Otherwise you won’t get a satisfactory answer from well meaning Christians because there will be diversity of opinion on this issue.
