      Once a someone asked st. Paisios the same question. He said something like this: before I stand to pray in order to humble myself, I thank God that he made me human being according to His image and likeness. He did not make me lizard, a bug or a worm but a human. Obviously He loves me very much so I thank Him and try to stay focused only on Him and love Him with all my heart.

    • @icxcnika2037
      @icxcnika2037 2 месяца назад +11

      He doesn't mean it in this way, he means the people who call themselves sinners but they're in a state of despair not actual humility which is what the Jesus prayer does, bring Holy Humility. It doesn't however make you spiral into thinking you're unworthy of God's forgiveness because you're such a sinner, for this isn't humility but doubt in God's great mercy and grace. Saint Porphyrips always encouraged the Jesus prayer. Hope this helps.

Questioning whether that sin is forgiven or not is ultimately saying you do not fully trust our Lord. What dreams is he talking about?
    I have a “dream” i should say rather goal of becoming professional basketball athlete, it can be sure considered as a dream from satan to focus on earthy things and become a workaholic.
    Also becoming professional athlete is selfish desire itself.
    My question is, can this desire or striving to a goal of becoming a pro athlete be collaborated with living as a orthodox christian?
    While having its deeper purpose in inspiring people to do their best, exceed their talents and help people with charity, church and poor people with money i gain from sport?
    As far as I try to combine the two, I see the level of demand both spiritual and physical, and that on most days I have to make a choice between let’s say a prayer or a well rested sleep. Sure you think and know that restful sleep is granted by God and you have a faith that God can provide this if you need even on much shorter sleep duration.
    Or helping others instead of training and practicing my skills in basketball.
    Or just being lazy.

      Prayer is the way you live, rarely expressed in words.
      Narrowing the bredth of things you are doing every day helps eliminate anxiety, equilibritate.
      Dreams are useless practically, you can not control them.
      Find a way to eliminate anxiety and all becomes clear for the while.
