Helping a homeless drug addict and a woman getting groped are two very different things. One cannot be immediately solved, but the other can be.
Even homeless are humans worth a soul too! They were once someone’s baby.
That surgeon is a COWARD & a NARCISSIST- he felt the need to be unprofessional & BAD MOUTH A PATIENT while he was under anesthesia & fighting for his life no less!!! Had anyone else jumped in to help him he may have not been knifed for badly
The funny thing is as a society we should try to strive to help both. Even if helping the addic is futile efforts..at least you can try.
The 2A exists to fend off attackers, it's the great equalizer when it comes to power disparity. As the saying goes an armed society is a polite society.

I ended up accidentally on a very bad street in vancouver CA with my son and infant daughter yesterday. I was scared at first, but then i noticed that every time I crossed a street, the first person on the next block would say "kids on the block" or "babies on the block" it would get echoed down the line. Everyone would put their drugs away or stop whatever unsightly thing they were doing and let us pass safely. Made me think a bit about the types of people out there.

All but the lowest of the lowest of the low tend to have at least *some* standards, usually with children.

As if drug addicts aren’t also people who need help
I think his point is exactly that, if you would only help someone you view as an equal to yourself (an ordinary woman on the subway being assaulted) but not someone who is in a bad situation long term and that society views as lesser, that's something to think about. But I do disagree with his overall take, it's good to stand up for people
@@LemonSte In my case it's not a matter of seeing someone as equal but practicality. Can I change a drug addict's life around in a single moment or fix the problem in his life? No I don't think I can but can I help a woman at this moment? Yes I can. It's a matter of effort and time as well. And well another thing helping the woman is simple but helping the drug addict is hard and complicated. I wouldn't even know how to actually help the drug addict.
Some people don’t want help, they’re happy where they are
But you can't help a drug addiction by standing up to them. Getting clean is a long process that needs to he somewhat voluntary. Helping someone who is getting sexually assaulted or any type of assaulted can be fixed instantly. There's a big difference. You can't help every random drug addict on the subway you see. You can stop chance events, not habits
Drug addicts have help thousands of programs to get them clean all paid for by the tax payer.
I think both points are valid here. Yes, you should help others in need. And yes, it's fair to not want to put yourself in a dangerous situation too.
Don't put yourself in the dangerous situation
be the dangerous situation
@@A-TALKING-TOASTERyeah, be the dangerous situation....the people who assaulted the female did just that
Doctor was not acting self righteous she was trying to justify the good deed the young man did as a result of placing his body before an assailant. If he got beaten that badly for stopping the groper, then this could have happened to the woman he protected if he had not been there.
Everyone is free to make their choice in an uncomfortable situation. It’s just a shame his choice cost him so much. I hope the woman visited him or at least appreciated what he had done.
Wow! Well said!
Would you rather die or a stranger? What if you have a family will you give your life to stave the stranger still? What if you wife’s sick and you have kids and you are the only earner? Priorities.
I agree with you, except the last part. Obviously I would also think she should be grateful in some way, but because it is not her fault that the man groped her she should not feel guilty. She did not do anything to deserve that, but of course its tragic generally that the patient has now to deal with the consequences. And he won't gain anything even if the man ends in prison, or worse. Its just this world, you decide to help for others and risk yourself, you should be praised for such an act but the woman has no responsibility for the act of the attacker.
@@matthewcrowell7004 and the man that jumped in obviously didn't have those priorities
Someone that does would've did different maybe called the cops maybe turn a bind eye
The point is not everyone sees life like that ( not in a depressing way but everyone is living differently) and maybe you aren't saying this but someone jumping in to help someone else is very commendable and getting all pent up because "what about other priorities" is kinda looking down on a good action it was a choice
@@matthewcrowell7004what if the woman had her own family, husband, friends, etc.? Am I supposed to just rob them of their own family member because I was too cowardly or too self-centered to do something to help them, too?

The fact that scenes like this are widespread available and yet peoples awareness doesnt change the people who do things like that. It all starts at home how you treat each other and what is important. Helping a drug addict who’s on the street has NOTHING to do with a girl getting groped on the train. This is just a stupid analogy and comparison. A druggy on the street could be there by choice. You never really know. But what you can know is if someone is being touched inappropriately. And if you see that and decide to yourself. Well I wouldn’t help a drug addict so I won’t help her, then you’re the problem.
This is the risk that men refuse to take anymore. Putting yourself at risk 4 a random stranger.

Understanding your own limits is important. Dont feel bad.
He truly is a fool. Sacrificing your life to stop a single groping is utterly idiotic.
Can’t or talk or eat solid food again why?!? Does he have nerve damage?! That’s insane. Unless his jaw was like removed or something, Not a chance this would be 100% permanent forever. They would do surgery and figure something out so this guy can have some quality of life.

Lord knows if I was in his shoes, I'd ask to be to sleep permanently.

Men… You have a responsibility to yourself and your family FIRST and don’t let anyone ever bully you into thinking otherwise. This man will have a hard time providing without the ability to speak and will never know the joy of food again.
Homeless drug addict or not they are still human standing by and watching someone get treated as if they are toys is wrong many shout that they would want to help people who are in trouble but he went in there actually helped her out of the kindness from his heart and now lost something he can never get back yet still accepts the outcome
If the person looks dangerous or is bigger than you, then you can literally just point it out to the crowd and get them as backup. If you don't want a big scene, just go up to a group or guys and mention it so you can go together as a smaller group. As much as I want to help people, I don't want to ve hurt myself in the process. I will do what I have to and avoid myself getting hurt at the same time. If it gets to the point that I know I will be hurt, then I'll go out fighting, but if it is preventable, I don't know why anyone wouldn't take help.

When i was in my 20s i would have belived he could find a good woman who could look past the disability... now in 2024 i know he will find someone who will take advantage of him
Doctors like him makes me very angry he'd be the type of guy that would straight up refuse to help anyone that's looking poor lower class or impoverished but then will spend the rest of your time going on charity events and going to church not realizing the way they're treating people goes against their God's will
Well, it might seem surprising to them he responded to what is a horrible situation with humor but, he can't very well cry for the remainder of his days. This is his reality now. That said, if you can't fight, aren't law enforcement or have a weapon it's best to mind your business. The saddest thing is that the women he helped ain't gonna have a single second thought about him and look at everything he just list trying to do the right thing.
I honestly can see both sides to this argument. For one, if you see something bad happening to someone, you should help them. The problem comes is if you act too fast and end up getting hurt due to misunderstanding. A lot of women get men hurt or killed due to mouthing off to men larger and stronger than their boyfriends / husbands and then call on them for help. That's just my two cents.
Regrettably, you will be accused of “blaming the victim” by the feminist trash in this comment section.
