The differential is the same, it just has half shafts instead of axle tubes. A lot of people incorrectly believe that the snake emblem in the grille is factory correct on the Cobra but it isn't..they came with the same running horse emblem as all Mustangs from this era.
It’s not just the power that makes these cars superb, it’s the fact that they have an independent rear suspension which means that they don’t have that typical mustang live rear axle. They handle very very well and are a real joy on track days.
The fact that every single one of us enjoys watching Wizard simply go over a car like a good mechanic should, really speaks to how many of us would kill for a mechanic like him. Thanks for being one of the very few good ones left Wizard! The only thing I dislike about you is that you're not closer to me. Lol.

Rare to see anyone that remembers the Terminator cobra even as a person that owns one. But it is very entertaining when someone reacts to remembering it. And that is a fact, they did come with the running pony in the grille from factory.
Nice! The brakes on the Cobras were also upgraded. I owned a 2001 Cobra (non supercharged) for a little while. Would have liked to own an 03 or 04 but the price went up and stayed up even for the used ones. Solid cars.
Same with the 5.0 Mustang sound in the 80s. Riding my bike as a kid, a guy with a 5.0 LX and a Flowmaster 40, took off around a corner and punched it. I think that was the exact point I fell in love with the sound of a V8.

For those filler neck grommets on the gas tank, you don't have to drop the entire tank to put those in. Just pull the filler tube out, rip the old one out and coat the new one with wd40 or that liquid grease spray and itll slide right in. Sometimes you may have to loosen the straps on the tank a little bit but rarely. If you try and install it dry it won't ever go in and you'll think you have to drop the entire tank. I've done the grommet install on foxes, SN95's, and new edges like this one which are basically SN95's and never once dropped the tank. Hope that helps in the future if you ever have to do those again. Also, coat the filler tube with WD40 before inserting it back into the grommet. Goes in a lot easier as well.

I finally figured out the Wizard Family. He fixes the cars and does an inspection. He is going to do the inspection on or off camera. By doing it on camera he gets some RUclips action. He promotes his knowledge and shows us what to look for. It's a win win win win. Good for you wizard. I am a huge fan. Keep them coming.

Cobra has IRS, others don't. While the 8.8 Limited slip differential itself may be the same, that is the only thing the same in that rear end. Also, V6 mustangs had a 7.5 open differential.
Back in the day a lot of Cobra owners swapped the IRS for solid axle.
@@devianb lol now all of us new edge owners are looking for the IRS. To be honest though, I'd be happy to toss any 8.8 into my convertible before I do the 3.5 eco swap
A lot of people incorrectly believe that the snake emblem in the grille is factory correct on the Cobra but it isn't..they came with the same running horse emblem as all Mustangs from this era.
I wish you would of mentioned the Independent Rear Suspension that these models had!
It’s not just the power that makes these cars superb, it’s the fact that they have an independent rear suspension which means that they don’t have that typical mustang live rear axle. They handle very very well and are a real joy on track days.
Ford made the Mustang Cobra R in limited numbers , that was a mustang I always really liked !
300 to be precise, killer car
The Cobras have always been good looking cars. Been around for years!
When I was a senior in high school, I used to drive by the local Ford dealership to stare at their 03 Cobra that was in their showroom.
I love pretty much every vehicle and own a lot of odd ones but the new edge mustang is my all time fav. Pretty stoked to see it on your channel.
My favorite generation Ford Mustang!

Love my 03 Mustang GT, sounds amazing with x pipe and flowmasters.
The fact that every single one of us enjoys watching Wizard simply go over a car like a good mechanic should, really speaks to how many of us would kill for a mechanic like him. Thanks for being one of the very few good ones left Wizard! The only thing I dislike about you is that you're not closer to me. Lol.

The K frame is not for lowering. It is for improved suspension geometry, strength, weight savings, engine clearance for headers and sometimes engine set back.
Love these videos! Simple overview of customers unique cars. This is a solid and very well maintained mustang. Says a lot that people drive for hours for you to work on their cars! I would if I didn't live 8 hours away...
Had to laugh Wizard when you said " Artic Blast". I live in Northern Alberta where 2 days ago we had lows overnight of -55 C with windchill. @@heavenbound9641 no, it looked like every other cobra
The Cobras came from the factory with the running horse in the grille instead of the snake. So many owners replaced the horse with the snake that everyone thinks the snake is factory
I thought the same thing when I bought mine....
I am putting the running horse back on...
Solid cars.
Would love a 98 Cobra. The 98 GT was the first car I learned how to drive manual in, so will always have a soft spot for those.
I owned a 96 GT I miss it

Same with the 5.0 Mustang sound in the 80s. Riding my bike as a kid, a guy with a 5.0 LX and a Flowmaster 40, took off around a corner and punched it. I think that was the exact point I fell in love with the sound of a V8.

Being a 20 plus year Cobra owner and fanboy I love this video. The 2003-04 Cobras were amazing cars.
Fun fact Swedish state television “public service” is actually called SVT.
You are right about the sound. Whatever ford did to get that sound they got it perfect.
Its just so hard and expensive to find a good honest mechanic.

The Cobra emblem did not come from the factory, it is just so common of a swap that you wouldn't know. I think I have seen one with the factory emblem. Also, the quoted power from Ford is a joke, quite a bit more in reality and very easy to turn up.
It is the first Mustang with independent rear suspension

Ridiculous how underhyped these cars are compared to Supras, despite being equivalent in performance/capability.
I think it’s because the Supra is more unique, either turbo or not, there are so many variants of the Mustang it’s hard to stand out.
@@RawShogun because this cobra wasn’t at the center of a movie, that is literally the only reason why the supra is so popular, the Supra literally isn’t that special performance wise, it’s heavy for a Japanese car, it has average power for a 90s Japanese performance car, the 2jz is a great engine but this cobra has a greater engine and isn’t as popular so I’d say it isn’t the engine that makes the Supra so popular, therefore the Supra is only as popular because it’s in fast and furious
@@nickmacias00 Thats a good point but don't act like there isn't a dozen variants of this car as well which makes it hard to stand out to non car people. The cobra probably has more street cred anyway which is why we are here.
@@RawShogun there are dozens of variants but the fact is the terminator is only two years 03-04, you can tell it looks different than a typical GT, my point is when you see a terminator you know it’s a terminator if you’re aware of their existence of course, despite all the street cred that the terminator has, there’s still a lot of people who don’t know about the terminator, I’ve come across plenty of Japanese car guys and even other american car guys who think it’s “just another clapped out 90s mustang” but literally everyone knows about the supra, it’s iconic, but why? Because of fast snd furious not because it’s a unique looking car, there’s plenty of unique looking cars that aren’t nearly as popular as the supra because they aren’t at the center of the most popular car movie franchise in history, the same exact thing can be said about the 1970 charger, it isn’t any better or anymore unique than other 70s muscle cars yet it’s easily the most valuable one now
@@nickmacias00 absolutely right you got it spot on... and the hype only continues to grow like 12yr olds thinking the R34 GT-R is the fastest* car in the world :/

The first Introduction of the 4.6 double overhead cam 32 valve engine came in at 93 Lincoln Mark VIII .
If that was inspected here in PA, no sway bar links is an instant fail
Yeah, seems like a pretty major omission for a regular road car to not have them? A bit strange Wizard didn't follow up on that?

cobra emblem is aftermarket, hood is fiberglass, wheels are 99-02 cobra painted black, name plates on the valve covers are aftermarket too. the sound is the 4v heads of course! these aren't pushrods like all of chevy's stuff. the burble from the valves is what makes these so identifiable!

My father used to have one of those (his was stock). Cool car but the interior was a real letdown, even considering the era.
The seating position was weird too, it was like I was sitting in a pickup truck.
yeah Ford seats suck...most just swap em out even though the seats in that car are very desirable
Yeah that was during the era where the instrument cluster, window switches, signal /wiper stalk, steering wheel, and dash/door panel appearance all were identical or super similar between the Mustang, Taurus, F150, Expedition, Windstar... the whole damn lineup...! and when you went over to Lincoln and Mercury you saw the more of the same stuff! I'm so glad car companies got out of doing this. Ford and GM were so bad at it. I look back at it with nostalgia,, but at the time it made me angry!

I kinda like the bad interior to be honest. It adds character, this car wasn't about having a nice interior with tech and creature comforts. Its bare bones and it's simple, I like that about it.
