Awesome video. I was stuck trying to figure out how to get the mounts out on my 535i, but luckily I found your video. It took some time, but I was able to get them replaced. Thanks again!
Took my gal in for annual service and the engine mounts had to be replaced...thank G-d I had an extended warranty...By the way, thank you for explaining what will need to happen 😊..she's 2015 535i M...
Wow,, i hope my car is that clean underneath . F10 525f, , living in Wales, i doubt it will be . 😂 Thanks for showing me around. That job is on my to do list . 👍👍
This video is very helpful! How did you realize that the engine cant be jacked up a bit higher? I am planning work on the same project with my 13 535i xdrive.
Realised it when the entire car started to float above the jack stands. Something you want to avoid in this case. xDrive is a little more complex. Good luck!
Great video. You mentioned a couple of times that the bottom of the new motor mounts are hard plastic vs the rubber bottom ones, which are better and why?
I'm honestly not sure. But apparently some models come with active motor mounts. So it's good to double check to get the right mounts before digging in.
there are different types. the ones on my 5 are static. rubber only. on my buddies 535xd they are fluid filled. you'll see a little hose on them to differentiate. if you run your VIN through realm you should find the right part number for your car.
@@BONDGarage thanks for your message. I already searched for the right mount with my vin. The resolution says, I have two different mounts. But that's not possible. I already contacted an bmw dealer who will have a look which mount is Bild in. Thank you again.
F10 with N63 engine? That is 550i. Is there even room to get into the 4 bracket bolts of the driver side mount? I see the tranny cooler lines are wrapping the mount. I did the passenger side just now and it is difficult. I see the driver side is impossible without dropping down the subframe 2-3 inches. Anyone?
I live in US and autoshop costs $1600 to just replace my engine mounts for both side.. do u think i can try DIY on this to save money? They said it will take them 6hrs to replace this
depends on your skill and confidence level. there's not much that has to come apart and I'd say you can do that in 6 hours while taking a nap in between both sides. 6 hours sounds like they want you to go somewhere else. It's the "i don't want to do it" quote. shouldn't take a professional more than 2 hours to do that job.
@BOND Garage are they near each other? I want the dealer to change the transmission mount when doing the rear differential bushings and i was seeing if i can have them do both for the same labor charge if they are close to each other
doesn't matter if they're close together or not since they can be changed individually. just matters how fast it can be done. Transmission mount alone is a matter of 10min if you have a lift. So would be nice if they can throw that in free of labor charge but wouldn't expect anything going to the dealer. An indy might just charge for the part and grant you the labor as discount. engine mounts are another story though
@@socommaster no. the diff mounts hold the diff at the rear axle. the transmission mount is pretty central under the car. doesn't take much to change it. in distance though, they're about 1,30 meters apart
honestly, i felt none but you can see that the old ones had collapsed a bit. But I heard from everybody else that changed them that they had tremendous vibrations before that were gone afterwards..
I cannot find a single video on a F10 535i XDrive transmission mount or mounts?.. help . I can't find the location of the mount or mounts fcp Euro kit came with two round mounts like on a E90... I don't know what's going on here ....🤔🫨
I see what you mean. they look different. the ones for the 535d look very similar to other models. they are mounted between the subframe and a bracket that connects to the engine. one driver side and one on the passenger side. you'll find them.

Glad it helped! Wasted quite some time myself until realizing it ain't working and I had to change strategy. Glad you didn't had to anymore.

glad your warranty covered it. squeeze as much as you can out of it 😅

it'll be clean for the first 5 days after delivery. man I feel for you. weather and corrosion makes everything more tricky and difficult
Thank you bro!! I’ve been waiting for this video. The stealership quoted me $1600 for these piece of plastic job 👍🏻
wow! I didn't know they charge so much for that.
Good luck with the install

Great vid! How did you unscrew those 4 bolts for the motor mount bracket for passenger side?
those were actually somewhat easy. at least 3 of them. the 4th one is blind and you need to bend yourself into a pretzel and keep your cool
two are easy to remove, the other two imposible. Belive me i ve tried it and only could change driver o e

Rubber mounts
Thank you
Are oil pan bolts and gasket cool with lifting the engine like that?
yes
Did the part number of the gear mount change or does every car version have a different gear mount?

@@akidemir4502 yea that doesn't sound right. eitherway it's the same work once you got the right parts. was actually more annoying than expected.
Hi , the transmission has only one mount? So it’s not two?
Right. The engine-transmission unit rests on 2 engine mounts and 1 transmission mount in this case.
Ok thank you , my car is Bmw f10 535 exdrive all wheel drive , do you have the same car
Does make any change rear wheel drive and all wheel drive
It does. The xdrive models have 2 round mounts. At least for the pre-LCI models. Not entirely sure of the facelift models.
Do you know if the 2013 528i has one mount? It’s rear wheel drive

yea I guess N63's are out of luck. will need to drop the subframe. just did a N57, that works like the N55

Are the engine mounts and transmission mounts the same?
no, they're are different. transmission mount is more or less just a rubber block. engine mounts are what you see on the thumbnail.
@BOND Garage are they near each other?

Was there a big difference after replacing all the 3 mounts?
honestly, i felt none but you can see that the old ones had collapsed a bit. But I heard from everybody else that changed them that they had tremendous vibrations before that were gone afterwards..
car km pls :)
would have to look it up but they told me they were collapsed very early. like 50k miles maybe. so close to 80k km
