Thanks for the video. My friend and I did my 2020 g20 330i motor mounts last weekend in 3 hrs from start to finish. Some tips i can provide are you can reach the passenger side top bolt from the top of the engine compartment to break it free. The drivers side can only really be reached from underneath without taking off the drivers side tire and fender liner. We used ramps under the front tires. We used a 5 ton bottle jack with a hard rubber pad instead of a 2x4. I removed the bracket on the transmission underside. What we found is that it was easier to place the bottle jack off center on the side of the mount you are doing. We had to go all the the way up with the motor. The best way to explain the clearance is when it stops thats the clearance. Dont force it and go slow. You will need 2 people and a short little pry bar with a handle. The mounts will take a little persuasion to get clearance. Dont be afraid to rock the motor to get the tip of the prybar between the tip of the top of the mount post and the bottom of the motor mount bracket, you need to sneak that post down a few mm to get it. underneath
Continued...to get it underneath the bracket. The new mounts sit taller because they are not collapsed internally. Go slow, don't panic, just realise this is one of those that you just gotta work at for a minute but is very achievable. On a DIY scale this is probably a 5 out of 10. Hopefully this helps. Good luck 💯
The passenger side bracket is easily removal. The driver side bracket was not accessible without removing half of the engine bay. Which I did not want to do. You remove the DME, then you might have to program/reset some parameters.
Sorry if I missed it, how did you know your Mounts were failing. I have a suspicion that mine are failing because during WOT and hard shift it feels like I am rolling over a bump or my tire is flat. I will try to get under to confirm once it stops raining here. Thank you for the vid!
@@NinjaJerky my driver side mount was collapsed. So on WOT I would hear a loud bang. Which was the mount housing colliding w the subframe. You can also remove your splash shield under the engine and you’ll see oil stain on the subframe from the mount. I show the stain in the video
Hello excellent video, I'm trying to replace the engine mount at home, were you able to do it? Do you need to loosen the subframe to remove it from its location on either side? Or just like you said, ask someone else for help to pull the engine? Thank you
Thank you. You don’t need to loosen the subframe. If you’re removing the left engine mount. You need to have the right side engine mount removed. And the engine lifted with hydraulic jack. Now, From the top, Have someone push the engine towards right side. This will tilt it giving you more space to remove the left engine mount.
What’s your mileage? What made you feel/think the mounts were going? I have a 2022 330i 34k miles MSport with active suspension & would love to feel the symptoms
I have a 2019 w/ 125k miles and the only thing I noticed is when I start the car there’s a big jolt that’s felt and when I got my Oil change the dealer said my mounts are collapsed… but I’m still driving 😭

Explained perfectly! This is really helpful
awesome video , getting this done myself today !
@@YoungNReckless16 thank you, it’s easier than you think it is!
Vehicular DIY shows it briefly in one of his videos: “What happened with my 500hp 330i?” where he shows the mounts and replaces them.
Yea he did show it, he made it look so easy with the lift
To remove the mounts easier, you should remove the mount brackets too that go to the engine block.
Working on it right now and to remove mount brackets, I need to remove DME and its holder on driver side and full cat on passenger side.

@@guy4432 I got it done by lowering subframe and lifting engine as much as possible to get just enough wiggle room - no need to remove brackets
@@Tromas494that’s a great way! What’s the subframe bolts torqued at.
@@guy4432 3 bolts per side. Front two are 108nm and rear one is 175nm. Rear one required quite large pipe to remove haha
The bracket bolt is 100nm and the 3 bottom ones are 19nm
Hello! Thank you for the excellent video. What are the dimensions of the 2x4 that you use?
@@cardiel4 hi. 2 inches wide and 4 inches length

Replaced it at ~73000 miles. When the engine mount metal housing started vibrating against crossmember 😂
Where did you get the motor mounts from?

I don’t think you watched it all the way through. All that talking is packed with info for someone who has never done this job.
