Thanks for doing all of these videos
Thank you for sharing! This is important information for customers considering the car :)
Do you have an ETA for when the phone key update will be available?
No, sorry :( I hope it will come soon. Will meet Volvo next week for a winter event, will ask them then.
Great review thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for posting your videos. I’ve just ordered a one with the single motor extended range in Moss Yellow in the UK. Would love to see a video of Apple CarPlay if possible. Thanks again for all the useful videos - it’s my first fully-electric car, so really good info to know 😀😀
I purchased my car in the uk in March and have not been able to access the app. I have been told Volvo are aware of the fault and are working on it, but months on, still no app. Volvo need to address this before selling the car.
This has the same functionality as the Volvo app from 2017 from my xc60. It does not appear to have changed much unfortunately…
Great car and beautiful one❤️
Don’t forget Polestar 3, a masterpiece of art!!
Can you check if the app works (from being fully closed) with no internet, and if the car can be unlocked?
Can you please do a video on how well the EX30 handles hey google voice commands for various display deep dive functions such as OPD, Performance all-wheel drive mode, stereo functions, climate functions, lighting functions, etc., all while driving.
Like you knew my next video ;)
Does anyone know if Volvo shares driving data with insurance companies, especially in the US?
I thought I’d mention - I have a lot of trouble with uploads/downloads when my phone switches to 5G. I have to activate then deactivate airplane mode. Otherwise nothing loads safari/youtube/facebook.
Thanks for the video
Is the driving journal based on car GPS usage or will it also track trip you did without navigation?
The similar XC40 logs every journey via GPS rather than any set routes on navigation
@@mdshovel thanks so same should be for this EX30
@@PierreHernandez86 I would think so
Sorry for late reply, it’s the same as the XC40 where it logs all trips basef on GPS :)
Hi there! Thx for the review! Question: can you change the sound when you drive in the reverse? Greetzzz, Ronald.
😀
Nope, there’s only one sound!
Tnx! I buy it hahahaha!
what,s the noise of the ingine
Dies it have sports mode ?
Works relatively well here although we do get random errors.
Your slow charging is the default 6amps settings. Set to 32amps or wherever your country has.
HI. Thanks for the tip. How do I set the amp setting to a higher value than 6 amp please?
@@WJS214 in the charging setting page there is an option. 6A to 32A
@@anthonycachiabantick Thanks - do you mean in the app or in the car?
Found out that you change the limit in the car settings - many thanks for your help
416 seems to be some kind of internal ID for the EX30, resources on their website also just refer to "416" no idea why they would show it in the app though...
The app is new give them time. Teslas app in the start was even more shit then this.
This wasn't a knock on the app, but explaining what the 416 meant, if I was knocking the app I would be talking about the limited feature set which I think they've intentionally kept reduced, hopefully that'll change in the future.
Haven't been able to use the app for two weeks now. It says I can't select a different car after clicking on my EX30. If I re-register it connects but then says it can't prepare the app and to check my internet connection. Very poor experience.
Yes I'm having the same issues poo too. Very disappointing 😔
Can you passively unlock the car with app like the smart box in the core model?
unlock it with the card every time sounds cumbersome .
Yes, you can unlock it with the app. In a future update, you will be able to hold the phone to the B-pilar for the car to open in the core model, so the card will not be needed.
I like your vidéo, for the next vidéo, can you test the audio system with the equilizer ?
Will do one about sound and audio
@@theelectriccarmagazine I live in Quebec, Canada, I ordered a twin ultra too, blue moon with breeze. my dealer told me I should receive my car in June. I hope I can try a demo first. I look forward to your audio sound test
Is the yellow color more pale in real life? Or more bright yellow/green?
More bright, it got kinda washed out now. The clips where I talk about the charging is more true to real life.
Great video
Charging defaults back to 6 amps
It's a bug, you need to manually rewyit to charge at 32 amps
Just will revert back to 6 amps again when AC charging
Looking forward to next video
Thanks for letting me know. As I live in an apartment I don't have access to the chargebox settings so can't see how much it pulls.
@@theelectriccarmagazine happy to help
It's a known issue Volvo is fixing
Hi, do you know if the App works on the entry level models? I think it is called CORE, with 344km range LFP battery. Thanks
The app is included in that version
Does it heat up/ cool the cabin well?
Yeah, you use the climate menu for that
How can they not even deliver 2020 Tesla app experience?
In my case I don't see information about temperature.
Like the ID3 bad software kills the experience, i like the cars looks. but owning the car would be a struggle
it's surprising you can't enter the rego.
Sadly it seems that Volvo is not good at implementing communication between the app and the car. I have the same app for my Volvo XC40 PHEV and after 14 months of ownership I am far from being impressed. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, often it can’t connect or throws some cryptic errors. 😢I definitely expected more from the app for EX30.
If you had connected the car to your phone hotspot I bet it will work as designed .. IE faster and with a car response.
Sure it does but having to do that every single time when the car should have internet connection to begin with..
Ugh really like this car but videos like this make me hesitant to buy something that isn’t a Tesla after having such a seamless experience in a model 3 for 6 years
I think You have to walk away from the car for it to lock.
It locked, the app just disn’t show it
2.3 tonnes of weight, 302wh/km efficiency, 82% battery gives you 190kms of range. Does not sound like a good proposition. Besides the buggy app, that is…
2,3 tons is when the car is fully loaded, unloaded is under 2 tons
Just 191 km with 80% charge? Lets hope this is not the single motor extended range.
It's Twin
@@theelectriccarmagazine Range should be 450 km at 100% charge for the Twin motor performance.
@@AboveInShadow WLTP says 450 sure but real world test show different numbers. This What you see in the app though is just terribly misleading as the car was new (like a week old), there had been lots of 0-100 (because it's fun on a new car) and cold outside (Sweden).
@@theelectriccarmagazine I've seen way better numbers on warm places, near 400 km range with the single motor extended range doing strictly city driving. Where I live temps never drop below 10C so I guess temps play against you in the northern hemisphere.
Wow.... Super unfinished app as well as an unfinished car. Maybe wait a couple of years until the next iteration, or at least until some serious software updates.
Shame as it's a really cool car.
This seems to be like polestar when released. The software is not ready for the car and would drive me mad. Why can’t they learn - Tesla app is light years ahead.
Grow up. Do you know why Tesla app is best becouse they have had it for soon 10 years!!! Tesla been in EVs for over 10 YEARS. VOLVO AND POLESTAR JUST FEW YEARS. Polestar app was trash for more than 5 years. Don’t talk if you don’t know. Volvo app will get better sooooon. Polestar app is already great for me! But many people say it need more work but idk what they be smoking. For sure always things to do better and it will get there by every update.
@@andreasl4507you need to grow up. You are missing the point. Volvo have had years with the polestar XC 40 recharge and the video highlights how a new car app launch shouldn’t be done. We have an MG and its app worked from the outset. Tesla worked and improves continuously. For a car costing 45k it’s just poor. End of.
@@andreasl4507the Tesla app was nearly perfected within 5 years. Copying should be relatively easy.
i have a xc60 from 2018. the app is almost the same with same capabilities and slowness. i thought they would add alot of things, like setting the temperature
@@andreasl4507You’re delusional! Went from Tesla Model 3 to my current Polestar 2 BST230 and I can tell you, the Polestar app is trash: Polestar decided that if you want to heat or cool your car, you can’t decide which temperature, it will be 22 degrees. Also, most of the time, the car wouldn’t unlock with the app, I’m forced to always have the key with me, it defeat the purpose… Polestar have a long way to go
They are hating on their customers with that awfull Software
Your khw per 100 km. Is high because you don’t drive like a human. Mine was 18 khw per 100 km when I test drived the EX30.
Well.. that is exactly what I said in the video
Don’t talk so much. The app is need for updates and like Volvo say’s updates will come all the time for updates and upgrades. Chill down.
