iPhone 13 - How to Fix Notch in YouTube Videos in Portrait mode

- Currently on iPhone 13 and 13 Pro RUclips may have an issue with the notch cutting into your videos. This is how to fix RUclips notch cutting off the top of your video. In landscape mode you also cannot zoom in and out to use full screen. This fix fixes both those issues.
This was driving me crazy. I count find anything about this. Thank you.

Yeah but now you dont have the same options in that setting. It says ‘larger text’ and ‘default’.
Mine was already in standard zoom mode and still having the notch in youtube. What I did was I switch to the larger zoom mode and go back to the standard zoom mode and it fucking works. Tysm

it doesn't work for 21:9 videos... I just can't reduce the size of the video to "hide" the notch... I don't really care if the image is smaller... but I hate to have a black notch in my video.

Thanks, I hadn't noticed the notch per say, but it had put the video closing symbol too high and if you couldn't select it. This fixed that!

I currently have both the iPhone 13 pro max and the iPhone 13 mini and my iPhone 13 pro max is set on zoomed and I still can fill out the whole screen on RUclips but with the iPhone 13 mini it doesn’t let me do the same thing. Both phones are running the exact same software version (iOS 15.2 beta 2). This feels very odd and random, that I need to set the mini on standard view while I can have zoomed on the pro max.. Yes I understand the screen sizes between the phones are quite different but the software should still allow you to do the same on both phones.
I don’t know if you meant the opposite, but for me it fixed when I changed to the zoomed in option. I was having this notch trouble in the default mode.

Mine says “default” and “larger text”. I don’t have the “zoom” or “standard” options. Is that the latest os that changed that? I want to get rid of the notch altogether. It’s dumb and interferes with more apps than just RUclips.

Literally I'm here wondering wtf watching videos or doing anything on an iphone looks like that notch thing. I have an LG stylo 4 and the screen just looks so big and not obstructed anywhere. So thinking that the iphone will be my next phone was making me wonder if i was gonna be seriously downgrading lmao

To everyone who already had it on standard and it didn't work: Switch to zoomed and then back to standard. It worked for me that way

I use this would work for games too.
Because I was playing terraria earlier, and the settings button was covered up!
The only way I found it was because I just tapped the notch!

"Zoomed" is literally just a "Pretend you have an iPhone 5 screen and tell that to all 3rd Party Apps for compatibility reasons". So you don't get broken UIs because of aspect ratio or resolution mismatches. so they won't zoom wider than 16:9 and treat the screenspace like it is notchless.

how do i fix this on instagram reels and tiktok? the 9:16 is there working fine in the preview of the video but when you actually click the video it zooms in to fill the notch area and crops the sides off, its really frustrating

I just got my 13 not knowing it does this. There’s currently no way to fix for other apps, though RUclips seems managed. TT is where the videos get cut off and I can’t get rid of the notch. I hate the notch and wish I could just turn off everything but the time, etc, being inside those 2 sections.

I'm having problems with youtube videos being enlarged on my iPhone. Every single time that i go on youtube on my iPhone. The youtube screen enlarges for no apparent reason, and i cannot zoom it out.

Oh my god I can’t find a solution to my problem anywhere on the internet
My iphone rotates, but when it is in landscape mode the screen is partially cut off/black
It is the part where the camera is dangling - that whole bit takes up the screen and becomes a thin black rectangle, this also makes it so that when I open the control centre, part of the controls are out of screen, because thanks to the black rectangle, the screen is partially shifted to the opposite side of the rectangle and camera

What about 2:1 videos I know it’s normal with the standard notch but since the notch is bigger than the 13 doesn’t cut into 2:1 videos or does it barely fit because that’s why I haven’t bought the 13 that’s why I’m waiting for the 14 Ultra Max so than the 💊 and 🕳 punch 👀 better in 2:1 videos please let me know thanx

I got the iphone 13 pro max. Does anyone know how to fix the screen? i use tiktok often and ever since i got my phone the videos i see on my fyp, all their text and pictures that they show are all cut off on the side?? idk how to fix it. is it just me or does this happen to everyone?
Google still refuses to fix their RUclips app for 18:9 playback in landscape mode. The notch still intrudes slightly on the left side, and I know they could easily fix it by shifting the video over to the right by a few pixels, because RUclips in Safari does this and it looks great (you don't see the notch at all). But Google won't fix their app as a "f*ck you" to Apple users. Luckily, RUclips on Safari is pretty usable. Not as handy as the app, but acceptable.
yes because they own the android and they hate apple. RUclips was so much better in the iPhone 5/5s era. now it feels like galaxy s3 in my iPhone 13.
