Hi MT, please test sustained full brightness in regular ambient temp under load for full review. Wonder if they have fixed the screen dimming issue as the device heats up. Not just gaming but also when shooting raw photos, and video. Not many reviewers mention this in reviews of previous gens. Thank you!
You forget that they don’t only upgrade the battery, but also other components which obviously will consume a lot more of battery. If they didn’t upgrade the battery, your phone wouldn’t even last 6 hours. If you put an iPhone 13 pro max’s battery on an iPhone 7/8 plus I’m sure you’ll see the difference when comparing the battery life.
Not true actually. They haven’t really touted better battery life until the iPhone X. Before that, they were advertising “same great battery life”. And iPhones have definitely gotten better batteries year after year for a little while now.
The thing that confuses me the most is they always seem to increase someyhing crazy for the camera every year, so how much are they holding back every year. Last year was the lidar and Dolby Vision, this year is cinematic mode
Upgrading from the iphone X, the 13 with 256 GB storage seems to be the best value for money, franlky!!!!! Its the best fr the average joe. Not many ppl talk abt the 13, but i feel apple has done a great job with the 13 as it has most of the features of the 12 pro.
My first phone was pretty small and I really liked it. After using android phones for years I decided to move over to iPhone and ordered the 13 mini as my first iPhone. It is still bigger than my very first phone but since it is more powerful than that phone, the size is understandable and I'll still enjoy it.
Went with the 13 Pro with 128GB. I’d love the battery of the Pro Max but I love the size of the regular Pro for everyday use. Everyone else I know upgrading I’ve recommended the regular iPhone 13 as it has the best bang for buck, especially since they’ve upgraded the storage.

One correction though: On Apple's Compare site, actually the 13 Pro has better battery life than the 13. the 13 Pro battery specs: 22 hrs video, 20 hrs streaming video, 75 hrs audio the 13 battery specs: 19 hrs video, 15 hrs streaming video, 75 hrs audio.
Yea I'm confused on this as well. I think it may be due to the extra GPU core handling video for efficiently? Seem like shady marketing from apple. But leaks suggest the regular iphone 13 actually has a larger battery than the iphone 13 pro.
@@ozzy1280 could be a bunch of things. bigger battery maybe. but it’s probably the 120hz display really helping out with those battery stats (like lowering the refresh rate to 24/30hz while watching video). especially since the 13 and 13 pro have the same hrs of audio
They can always say that but look what happened between 12 and 12 Pro. That's without the ProMotion display on the Pro model. I hope the extra GPU helps this time.
no you guys are missng the main reason that he is trying to make the extra battery life for the pro models that apple claims will be just same as last years model since this it has 120hz and that drains the battery a lot where the regular iphone 13 doesn’t have promotion so hence it will last longer
@@chelious1973 That's not Max but rather Vadim. And we'll have to see all the reviews and test of battery life that are coming pretty soon to know for sure. It would be pretty scandalous if the 13 Pro hours are way less than the 13 since Apple has already released, posted and published those pretty significantly higher hours for the 13 Pro.
I have the 13 and this battery is amazing. I took my phone off the charger around 6 am. It is now almost 9 pm and it is at 36. I had to charge my 12 at least once midway through the day for it to last. I don’t even carry a charger or need to use low battery mode because it lasts…

Going from the 11 Pro max to a 13 mini myself. These phones are getting too heavy and I miss the portability of my one handed 5s. Would’ve been nice to see a pro mini
@@STONERTELEVISION369 Depends on what your needs are, but if you decide to get the iPhone 13, it might be worth it to get the iPhone 13 Pro. They are the exact same size with the Pro weighing in a little heavier.

@@STONERTELEVISION369 I took a big step back and asked what do I exactly do on my phone? I mainly use it for maps navigation, email, text, phone calls (since it’s both my work and personal cell via dual sim), and that’s pretty much it. When I go on vacation, I do use my phone to take pictures and the spec sheets say say that the iPhone 13 Mini camera is comparable to the 12 Pro Max, so I’m not too worried about camera quality. I’m not a crazy photographer who edits, etc, I just need something that takes great shots. For everything else I have my MBP or my iPad Pro. I’m tired of carrying these massive devices and want something more pocketable when I’m out and about. I’m not too concerned about battery life since if I’m out all day somewhere, I usually have my backpack so I’ll just bring my battery pack. For day to day use when I go to and from work, this phone is a no brainer. For me it’s the most logical sense. Hope this helps.
Vadim, Brother thank you for the recommendations, really helped me decide. think i'm gonna go with the 13 Pro, currently have a iPhone x from 2017. the only reason why i'll upgrade is because i do get random freezes and slowdowns here and there. was gonna go with the 13 Pro Max but it just seems a bit too big, my current iPhone is 5.8 inch (Which still kind of feels big on my little hands, but at the same time I do want a screen that's a bit bigger, but not too big) and the regular 13 Pro is right in the middle at 6.1 inch. @@icecoldjtheater5212 no? You can still use 120hz, this was an option on my OnePlus 7pro back in 2019 aswell. Comes in handy if you won't be able to charge for a while, and need the extra hour + of battery time. Why would you not want an option to turn it off?
Days ago I had an iPhone SE 1st gen with 32Gb of memory, got it late September 2019 and served me well for 3 years before I had storage space issues. Now I have an iPhone 13 and it has improvements over my old iPhone SE 1st gen or iPhone 3s.
One of the most sincere presentations I’ve seen. Kudos. I’m proud to say that I’ve been using my 16GB 5S the last nine years and prior to that, my Sony T-100. (Go ahead and laugh. Everyone else does. 🤭) I’m a simple user. I surf, read online news, listen to online radio, watch RUclips, play select games, and I’m not much of a photographer. However, as with everything, wear and tear and age have taken their toll. From quick battery drainage to charging difficulty to lack of storage space to inability to update apps due to older software version (12.5.5). Having said all this, I believe that the 5S is by far the finest phone Apple’s designed. If I had to use one adjective to describe the 5S, it would be, “Reliable”. I’m considering purchasing a new phone. It’s a toss up between the 13 mini and 13. The mini as my next phone for two reasons... 1. It’s size (after nine years with the 5S, the compactness is nice); 2. Apple has announced that the mini phone version will be discontinued and no longer available. Sadly, there’ll be no 14 mini. The 13 as my next phone for only one reason, namely my age. At sixty, my sight is still ok, but I’m noticing it takes more effort to focus. I also have two concerns. 1. Memory size. 128 or 256? I’ve noticed that Apps are getting larger and I question if 128GB will be enough in the long term. I’m a realist and believe this may be my last phone purchase. Like I said, my 5S has been serving me for nine years. 2. I am currently working in China 🇨🇳 and have been the last five years. As you’re aware, the daily word of the day in people’s vocabulary is COVID. The last four years, COVID has made it virtually impossible for me to go anywhere in China let alone travel home. Nevertheless, here in China, I’ve friends who’re Apple enthusiasts who’ve bought the new iPhone 13 Pro and mini AND iPad mini 6 and Pro. At the moment, (with the help of a VPN), it allows me to bypass the “Great Firewall (GFW)” and use certain Apps such as RUclips, Tune-In, and certain Canadian news and social networks. When I look at my friends new phones and tablets, the first thing I do is go to the App store. I’m unable to find any Apps which I use (with and/or without VPN). This is very worrisome. I can’t even find any VPN’s. BTW... using a VPN in China is “THEORETICALLY ” punishable by law with possible deportation or imprisonment. My question: Is there a difference between a 13 mini 256GB purchased in Canada 🇨🇦 and the same phone purchased in China 🇨🇳 OR are they both the same phone? I’m not sure if there is a difference between a Chinese one and one bought in Canada… do the Chinese ones have support for English is all id wonder. Chinese ones might have more malware on them to track people or something. And for space I forked out for the higher storage for my X and it’s been 3 years and haven’t really had a problem so go for 256 at least for sure

iPhone 13 with 4 GPU, 3227mah, iPhone 13 Pro with 5 GPU, 3095mah. After comparing all models, I design go back to regular iPhone 13 model for better battery life instead of better camera and performance since I don’t play game.
Just got the 13 mini 256gb. I really hope this phone lasts a long time cause I love it. I loved the iPhone 4/5 too, because of the size. Just fits better.
Was that a mistake in saying the iPhone 13 has better battery life then the 13 Pro? The 13 battery is 2.5 hours longer then last years 12, whereas the 13 Pro is only 1.5 hours longer battery then the 12 Pro. But overall the iPhone 13 has up to 19 hours video playback but the 13 Pro has 22 hours of video playback making it longer lasting battery (apart for the 13 Pro Max)
Pro has a little less battery, no mistake. It's the 120hz that hurts. I saw a video testing it. 13 mini is almost the same as OG and the Pro lasts a little less than OG.
@@LIGHTISBURNING depends on phone usage since the pro can do 120hz adaptive meaning that it can also go down to 10hz if the screen is static, resulting in better battery than 60hz. it totally depends on what you are doing on your phone.
The quick answer: Get the 13 Pro / Pro Max or save your money for next year. (Unless you're a small phone guy then get the mini because it has better battery life and they're discontinuing it next year).

I upgraded my iPhone 11 Pro for the 13 Pro, only reason because Verizon and AT&T are offering $1,000 trade-in credits which covers for the phone. Look into your carrier promotions to make it a worthy upgrade. Pick your size wisely due to only difference been the screen. Peace and love! ✌🏻
I have worked in an electronics retailer and know about Apple's warranty rules. At least for Germany. So for anyone who is living in Germany and is watching this video: Do not buy the third party charger. I can assure you that should you have a warranty issue and your phone gets sent to Apple, they have ways of finding out if you were charging the iPhone with the original charger or not. And they will only offer you a free repair if you were using the official Apple accessories. Again, maybe Apple has different warranty rules in different countries but this is how it is in Germany. So better pay 8€ more instead of loosing your warranty. Edit: I want to clarify that cases, etc. are not an issue but basically chargers and cables, everything that interacts with the inside electronics of the phone should be official. They will of course repair your device if you have a third party case.

in the exact same boat, i left the at&t store even more confused. i think i’ll go with the pro though because it was thicker than our 8 and the screen still felt big because it goes to the edge now instead of having the border
I have the 8 Plus. The 8 Plus has a 5.5” screen. The 13 & 13 Pro have a 6.1” screen so I think it’s the perfect upgrade. The 13 Pro Max seems like it would be too big to fit in my pocket every day. But it seems the biggest difference between the Pro & Pro Max is the Pro Max has a bigger screen & better battery life.
@@codylutes9655 I agree. I also have an 8 plus. After viewing the different 13 models in store, the 13 pro max is gigantic compared to the 8 plus. The 13’s & 13 pro’s screens have the same, if not more, total area as the 8 plus. The difference in width would be hard to get used to again, however over the past 3-4 years I have found myself thinking sometimes that my 8 plus is too wide to use if I only have a single free hand. So if I were to upgrade I’d probably go with either the 13 or 13 pro

Replacing the iPhone 11 with the iPhone 13 mini as concerned it won’t be available next year. The iPhone 11 is a great phone but we always wanted the smaller phone just wasn’t available at the time we needed to replace our iPhone. Didn’t like the SE to dated. Plus with the trade in of your old phone doesn’t feel so expensive. Hopefully the battery improvements over the 12 we mean be ok. When I compare the battery details of the 11 with the 13 mini they close enough.

Id suggest the 13 pro. The screen being 120 htz smoothness is such a nice touch, if you can, go into a store and seethe difference for yourself before making the choice just to be sure!
I've had the same android phone since 2015, so this year I'll be buying the iphone 13 mini, this will probably be my last chance to buy a phone under 6 inches in these current times where every phone is HUGE in size. It might not be the best, but for me it's perfect.
@@Mamo878 Isn't the S21 6.1 inches? I know that the slimmer bezels help the phone to look smaller but I've held the regular S21 before and it's still a bit to big for me, I have tiny hands.
The only real reason for me to upgrade would be the 120Hz Displays on the Pro Models... Other than that, no need to upgrade.. Still a Notch, Still no Finger Print Sensor, no always-on-display, and still no USB-C on iPhones, which will most likely become mandatory in the EU rather sooner than later... (and the new ipad minis have it!!)
Worth it no way. But tell me man, how many times do we live? We live ones. As long you can somehow manage it financially, it’s always cool to get a new device. We all know that it’s not necessary. But if you start thinking this route, why buy a iPhone? In this case one should buy a device for 300.- dollars because it can almost do the very same.

I guess most people will assess if they go for a new iphone or spend the money otherwise eg. on a weekend trip etc... and if something works well (like IP11) and the newer model (like IP13) does not offer a reasonable advantage, why blow that money out. it could be better spent otherwise. but of course this is highly individual :)
I am currently using an iPhone 7 Plus. (I take very good care of what I do not insure.) In need of an upgrade but I don’t really need all the bells and whistles. I just want better battery life and less lagging. I debated on just getting a 12 but with every line up that comes out the older phones work less and less.
I'd like the 13 pro max for being the one with the best battery life and I don't mind a bigger screen for sacrificing a bit of usability but the sheer W E I G H T of this one is making me second guess - my Xs Max is already heavy enough.
Same!!! Have the exact same dilemma! Xs Max has caused me so much wrist strain, sure to get carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis with continued usage. Deep down I have contempt for it because it’s so bulky and heavy I don’t even take selfies because my arms shake. The screen size is not enough of a pay off for the brick weight. But yea, still deciding between the Pro Max because of screen size and battery life to watch several lecture videos back-to-back, and taking good video screen shot notes. But at the same time, it’s SO heavy, and 30-40g heavier than the XS MAX, which will prob be too heavy to lift and watch at eye level for long periods of time. Because the XS MAX itself is just too painful to lift and watch videos. Leaning towards getting the Pro which is smaller but more ergonomic, smaller screen, BUT essentially about the same weight as the Xs Max.

I, myself came from a XS Max, and preorder the regular 13 Pro at first, then I said.. nah I miss the big screen, so i went to my carrier store the next day and got the 13 Pro Max... and BOY was it heavy. (I have carpel tunnel so for me it WAS a pain to carry and hold). Ended up returning it and stuck with the regular 13 Pro. Sometimes I do miss the bigger screen, but I know it's for the best!

And I’m glad I made the right decision because even though it’s pretty much the same weight as the XS Max it feels much lighter because of the smaller size it’s more compact. And to be honest I don’t even realize the smaller screen size difference. The convenience of being able to slip it in jacket pockets, jean pockets and small clutches/handbags, or just hand holding it feels so much more convenient and lighter. I def rec the 13 Pro over the 13 Pro max if you have smaller hands or are a woman, and suffer from wrist/hand strain from the XS Max.

i just upgraded from the 6s a couple weeks ago to the 13 mini, works for me and battery life is so much better, i’m able to make it though the day without charging while my 6s even after replacing the battery i had to charge prob 1.5x to make it through
I'm recommending the iPhone 13 Pro to my dad. He loves nature & photography. Great lenses both macro & zoom. 120Hz will feel like a breeze, I can't live without on my S20. 5core processor & 2gb more ram are bonus, since he won't game. But yea, the camera & screen will already make the difference!
I'm still on my 2yr old XS Max, going 3 on Jan 2022 and still contemplating if I'll get the 13 Pro Max. It just sucks that Pro's are being faced out when new one comes out. I am going on Iphone 13 pro after 12 years on strict android user. Reason is better software optimization in iOS and using s21+ 120hz but I checked ipad pro 120hz and it was dope. Last reason is I used samsung for so long but now software updates and other things, Samsung is inconsistent while delivering software updates. In case of Apple they don't make much more gimmick rumors. Once bitten, twice shy, and I no longer trust Samsung to get things right!!!!
What is your opinion about the iphone 13 pro's overheating and screen dimming issues. Some people are saying that the issues can be avoided by adjusting certain settings on the phone like turning off optimized battery and backround app refresh, and turning screen brightness down to 80% or less. Others are saying that while adjusting settings might make it take longer for the phone to overheat it will always overheat after enough time because the overheating is caused by a serious design flaw in the hardware of the phone in that apple did not engineer enough cooling into the 13 pro so it will always overheat. I am specifically looking at the 13 pro so if you can offer any feedback as to what causes the overheating issue and whether or not you can truly stop a 13 pro from overheating or it is really a design flaw with the phone would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have iPhone 6s with a battery that not even pretending to hold charge now 😂 but glad I listened to this vid and others as I was about to purchase 13 pro max 128gb assuming it the same as others in its class . Seems I will need to get 256GB model now…my bank manager going to be sending me hate mail 😂

My iPhone 7 Plus is 60Hz and it isn’t all laggy like you showed the 13 being while swiping through the Home Screen. Also I’ve been to many stores lately looking at phones because I need to upgrade and the base model 13 is not at all slow and choppy like you’re showing it to be. I’m sure it probably makes a difference in gaming, but for just basic navigation of the phone (swiping left and right on the Home Screen) most people won’t notice the difference. Very deceptive. Anyone doubting this just go to a store and try swiping left and right on the Home Screen. You’ll see it’s smooth as can be.
I have the 12 Pro Max and I’m getting the 13 Pro Max! The size is great. I tend to edit photos a lot and having the bigger screen and bigger battery life is definitely what keeps me on the Pro Max line up.

@@Dxllface_ I did! I would 100% recommend the 13 Pro Max. The new screen is amazing and really shows true colors in photos. The battery is even better than expected! There are nights where I don't even put my phone to charge over night and get about two days use. You will love it, especially coming from the XS Max!
I got a 13 Mini. To me large phones don’t even feel like phones… they feel more like miniature tablets then actual cell phones. The 13 mini feels like the right size now The battery life is pretty great 👍🏻
I had to pause the video once the telephoto was mentioned. Everyone seems so over the moon that the camera is now 3x and blow the meaning out of proportions, while the truth is, the telephoto lens as a sidegrade at best. I do not like when people say “upgraded” to 3x as it means the photos or the camera are somehow better. Like “the more X, the better photos”. No. If it was a variable zoom lens, than sure, but prime 3x is not better than prime 2x of the same quality. Yes, it is better (more useful) for some shots, while it completely destroys shots that you would take on 2x or 2.5x before (because you need to crop in from 1x lens to get these). And the price for that is a worse aperture in f/2.8, by far the most narrow aperture in mobile cameras as far as I know. 🤷♂️ oh the messaging.

Ordered the 13 pro 128g then quickly changed it to the 256g after this video! I know that even the 256 will fill up fast with Prores @ 30fps in 4k and I wont utilize it all of the time because of this, but to miss out on the 4k I'd much rather jump up a memory size! Thanks!
i had the 128g iPhone 11. My Apple Music collection getting insane. To DL all the songs i need 145ish g (at lossless). Tried the streaming routine but that chewed up my 8g / month data real fast. Other than regular phone stuff - i do not game. Do that on a Windows machine. So i went with the regular 13 with 512g storage. Hopefully that will hold me for a bit. With apps/music/pictures i sit at around 164g. Would have loved to get the 13 pro 1T but prices in Canada are nuts, would have been almost $2100 plus tax. The 13 - 512g was about tops budget wise. Was 1500 plus tax.
Just got upgraded from Samsung S20 to iPhone 13 256gb the regular one and it kinda surprised me especially the battery life but then I realized I came from a 120Hz system to this one :D I got this one since I wanted kinda a bit smaller phone, I liked the shape and the form too and the specs are better from the previous iPhone.. anyways I'm still getting used to this after using Android for my entire life but it's all good so far ^^ also my local store has this in sale for $1k+ bundled with a charger brick which is considerably already basic and cheap in my region ;; the pro and pro max ones are around $600-$1k more with same storage. Perfect for casual daily use with basic functions ^^
My only concern is mistake no. 5. From 4K downgraded to 1080p for 128gb if using ProRes. That’s a bummer but I’m taking on the pro models from my mini & I missed using using telephoto lenses since iPhone 7plus. (I only started upgrading since XR. Never owned a pro models before)
Just bought new iPhone 13, can't wait for this year iPhone 14 (2022). I choose regular 13 to purchase its bec. good for value both money and specs. Their are so many specs/feat. that I realize I don't need that Pro/Max models have. Also ... I'm not into so much photo takings both outside or selfies ... I'm pretty much ok with regular 13. Save more money and just take good care of it you can have it for 4-5 years ...
That's actually just video playback, which usually just refreshes at 30Hz, which is an advantage for the Pro. In. In normal use cases where 120Hz is used more frequently, the 13 will last longer.
This one is tricky. Due to the ProMotion display, 13 pro will have a better battery life when watching normal videos offline because those videos should be 24 FPS and the screen should be at 24 Hz. But for gaming at 120 FPS, the 13 pro will drain more power because of higher refresh rate. So the 13 pro will have very different battery life for different use case.
Seeing people in the comments wondering if they should upgrade their 11 and 12's... I don't see why you would have the need to? I've been using my iPhone 8 plus since it was released and it still works pretty well.
Battery life and storage are the most important elements that I consider when purchasing a new iPhone. The camera is my next consideration. I currently have an 11 Pro Max with 256 Gigs of storage with over 200 Gigs of podcasts, one of my passions. 1T is a must for my next iPhone.
Going from iPhone X, I keep debating whether regular 12,13 models are sufficient or because the X was kind of the first "pro" model do I need to continue with pro models to have the same experience? After 4 years iphoneX is still blowing my mind :D
I think that the mini is still totally underrated! The new battery means that the 13 mini has only 30 minutes less capacity than last years regular 12! But of course, nobody mentions that! 🙄
@@carticactus Yeah, I’m actually currently using an iPhone SE from 2016 with 4" and it is pretty small. But I’m probably gonna upgrade soon to probably iPhone 13, maybe a 11 or 12 if they are getting cheaper, but when the price gap is just very small, I’ll probably grab the iPhone 13.

I upgraded from the 11 to the 13 pro. I'm a phone photography kind of person so it was a worthwhile upgrade! I have a Magsafe case you future proof, but I don't anticipate having any Magsafe accessories in any near future.
I have an iPad Pro but also an iPhone 8 Plus. I definitely appreciate 120hz but I don’t care for battery life since I’ve been used to taking my charger with me at all times. Camera quality is also appreciated and high performance is better too
Actually, according to a head to head real world test between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro by a reviewer on RUclips and featured on 9to5Mac, the ProMotion display was found to be more power efficient and had a slightly longer battery life then the standard 13.
f stops are about the amount of light that enters through the aperture. Nothing to do with “speed” the lower the f number, the wider the aperture to allow more light In, making it better in low light environments
I thought in the Buyer’s Guide for the Pro you would mention the difference between 128gb and 256gb+ and available features. If best video feature is a goal, the it is likely worth the extra expense for the 256gb.
You don’t need to warn people about the iPhone 13 mini battery life. People that bought the 12 mini and will be buying the 13 mini understand that it’s a PHONE. Used to make calls, text people, emails, some pictures and low intensity stuff. People aren’t buying the mini to replace their xboxes or computer desktop gaming setups or their DSLR cameras. The people that love the mini understand that at the end of the day, it’s just a phone and does not need to be the size of a mini iPad.
I just got a 13 pro switching over from a galaxy s10 and they’re about the same size the pro felt like the middle ground between all the models after I looked through all of them in the store, it has all the latest tech just a smaller package, and the battery life is still amazing.

Hi MT, please test sustained full brightness in regular ambient temp under load for full review. Wonder if they have fixed the screen dimming issue as the device heats up. Not just gaming but also when shooting raw photos, and video. Not many reviewers mention this in reviews of previous gens.

Every year they say we get 2 hours more battery life , by now they should last over 40 hours… Mine is still low on battery at the end of the day.
You forget that they don’t only upgrade the battery, but also other components which obviously will consume a lot more of battery. If they didn’t upgrade the battery, your phone wouldn’t even last 6 hours. If you put an iPhone 13 pro max’s battery on an iPhone 7/8 plus I’m sure you’ll see the difference when comparing the battery life.
Not true actually. They haven’t really touted better battery life until the iPhone X. Before that, they were advertising “same great battery life”. And iPhones have definitely gotten better batteries year after year for a little while now.
The thing that confuses me the most is they always seem to increase someyhing crazy for the camera every year, so how much are they holding back every year. Last year was the lidar and Dolby Vision, this year is cinematic mode

Upgrading from the iphone X, the 13 with 256 GB storage seems to be the best value for money, franlky!!!!! Its the best fr the average joe. Not many ppl talk abt the 13, but i feel apple has done a great job with the 13 as it has most of the features of the 12 pro.
My first phone was pretty small and I really liked it.
After using android phones for years I decided to move over to iPhone and ordered the 13 mini as my first iPhone. It is still bigger than my very first phone but since it is more powerful than that phone, the size is understandable and I'll still enjoy it.
Went with the 13 Pro with 128GB. I’d love the battery of the Pro Max but I love the size of the regular Pro for everyday use. Everyone else I know upgrading I’ve recommended the regular iPhone 13 as it has the best bang for buck, especially since they’ve upgraded the storage.

Yea I'm confused on this as well. I think it may be due to the extra GPU core handling video for efficiently? Seem like shady marketing from apple.

@@ozzy1280 could be a bunch of things. bigger battery maybe. but it’s probably the 120hz display really helping out with those battery stats (like lowering the refresh rate to 24/30hz while watching video).

I have the 13 and this battery is amazing. I took my phone off the charger around 6 am. It is now almost 9 pm and it is at 36. I had to charge my 12 at least once midway through the day for it to last. I don’t even carry a charger or need to use low battery mode because it lasts…

@@STONERTELEVISION369 I took a big step back and asked what do I exactly do on my phone? I mainly use it for maps navigation, email, text, phone calls (since it’s both my work and personal cell via dual sim), and that’s pretty much it. When I go on vacation, I do use my phone to take pictures and the spec sheets say say that the iPhone 13 Mini camera is comparable to the 12 Pro Max, so I’m not too worried about camera quality. I’m not a crazy photographer who edits, etc, I just need something that takes great shots.
For everything else I have my MBP or my iPad Pro. I’m tired of carrying these massive devices and want something more pocketable when I’m out and about. I’m not too concerned about battery life since if I’m out all day somewhere, I usually have my backpack so I’ll just bring my battery pack. For day to day use when I go to and from work, this phone is a no brainer. For me it’s the most logical sense.

Vadim, Brother thank you for the recommendations, really helped me decide. think i'm gonna go with the 13 Pro, currently have a iPhone x from 2017. the only reason why i'll upgrade is because i do get random freezes and slowdowns here and there. was gonna go with the 13 Pro Max but it just seems a bit too big, my current iPhone is 5.8 inch
(Which still kind of feels big on my little hands, but at the same time I do want a screen that's a bit bigger, but not too big)

For battery life you can change refresh rate the settings in the Pro version down to 60hz manually. Selecting low power mode will also do it.

@@icecoldjtheater5212 no? You can still use 120hz, this was an option on my OnePlus 7pro back in 2019 aswell. Comes in handy if you won't be able to charge for a while, and need the extra hour + of battery time. Why would you not want an option to turn it off?

Days ago I had an iPhone SE 1st gen with 32Gb of memory, got it late September 2019 and served me well for 3 years before I had storage space issues. Now I have an iPhone 13 and it has improvements over my old iPhone SE 1st gen or iPhone 3s.
Decided to upgrade to a 13 pro because I like to keep my phones for a while.
I seriously considering upgrading my XR this year just for that storage.

I’m proud to say that I’ve been using my 16GB 5S the last nine years and prior to that, my Sony T-100. (Go ahead and laugh. Everyone else does. 🤭)
I’m a simple user. I surf, read online news, listen to online radio, watch RUclips, play select games, and I’m not much of a photographer.
However, as with everything, wear and tear and age have taken their toll. From quick battery drainage to charging difficulty to lack of storage space to inability to update apps due to older software version (12.5.5).
Having said all this, I believe that the 5S is by far the finest phone Apple’s designed. If I had to use one adjective to describe the 5S, it would be, “Reliable”.
I’m considering purchasing a new phone. It’s a toss up between the 13 mini and 13.
The mini as my next phone for two reasons...
1. It’s size (after nine years with the 5S, the compactness is nice);
2. Apple has announced that the mini phone version will be discontinued and no longer available. Sadly, there’ll be no 14 mini.
The 13 as my next phone for only one reason, namely my age. At sixty, my sight is still ok, but I’m noticing it takes more effort to focus.
I also have two concerns.
1. Memory size. 128 or 256? I’ve noticed that Apps are getting larger and I question if 128GB will be enough in the long term. I’m a realist and believe this may be my last phone purchase. Like I said, my 5S has been serving me for nine years.
2. I am currently working in China 🇨🇳 and have been the last five years. As you’re aware, the daily word of the day in people’s vocabulary is COVID. The last four years, COVID has made it virtually impossible for me to go anywhere in China let alone travel home.
Nevertheless, here in China, I’ve friends who’re Apple enthusiasts who’ve bought the new iPhone 13 Pro and mini AND iPad mini 6 and Pro. At the moment, (with the help of a VPN), it allows me to bypass the “Great Firewall (GFW)” and use certain Apps such as RUclips, Tune-In, and certain Canadian news and social networks.
When I look at my friends new phones and tablets, the first thing I do is go to the App store. I’m unable to find any Apps which I use (with and/or without VPN). This is very worrisome. I can’t even find any VPN’s. BTW... using a VPN in China is “THEORETICALLY ” punishable by law with possible deportation or imprisonment.
My question: Is there a difference between a 13 mini 256GB purchased in Canada 🇨🇦 and the same phone purchased in China 🇨🇳 OR are they both the same phone? What signs should I be looking for when purchasing?

I’m not sure if there is a difference between a Chinese one and one bought in Canada… do the Chinese ones have support for English is all id wonder. Chinese ones might have more malware on them to track people or something. And for space I forked out for the higher storage for my X and it’s been 3 years and haven’t really had a problem so go for 256 at least for sure

After comparing all models, I design go back to regular iPhone 13 model for better battery life instead of better camera and performance since I don’t play game.
Just got the 13 mini 256gb. I really hope this phone lasts a long time cause I love it. I loved the iPhone 4/5 too, because of the size. Just fits better.
Was that a mistake in saying the iPhone 13 has better battery life then the 13 Pro? The 13 battery is 2.5 hours longer then last years 12, whereas the 13 Pro is only 1.5 hours longer battery then the 12 Pro. But overall the iPhone 13 has up to 19 hours video playback but the 13 Pro has 22 hours of video playback making it longer lasting battery (apart for the 13 Pro Max)
Yeah and adaptive refresh is better for battery than static 60hz. If you dont scroll it will be at 10hz and thst comsumes way less power than 60hz
Pro has a little less battery, no mistake. It's the 120hz that hurts. I saw a video testing it. 13 mini is almost the same as OG and the Pro lasts a little less than OG.
@@LIGHTISBURNING depends on phone usage since the pro can do 120hz adaptive meaning that it can also go down to 10hz if the screen is static, resulting in better battery than 60hz. it totally depends on what you are doing on your phone.
The quick answer:
Get the 13 Pro / Pro Max or save your money for next year. (Unless you're a small phone guy then get the mini because it has better battery life and they're discontinuing it next year).

I upgraded my iPhone 11 Pro for the 13 Pro, only reason because Verizon and AT&T are offering $1,000 trade-in credits which covers for the phone. Look into your carrier promotions to make it a worthy upgrade. Pick your size wisely due to only difference been the screen. Peace and love! ✌🏻
I have worked in an electronics retailer and know about Apple's warranty rules. At least for Germany. So for anyone who is living in Germany and is watching this video: Do not buy the third party charger. I can assure you that should you have a warranty issue and your phone gets sent to Apple, they have ways of finding out if you were charging the iPhone with the original charger or not. And they will only offer you a free repair if you were using the official Apple accessories. Again, maybe Apple has different warranty rules in different countries but this is how it is in Germany. So better pay 8€ more instead of loosing your warranty.
Edit: I want to clarify that cases, etc. are not an issue but basically chargers and cables, everything that interacts with the inside electronics of the phone should be official. They will of course repair your device if you have a third party case.
My brother works for Apple and also advises against third party batteries too. Apple was surely intentional with having people buy all their products.

in the exact same boat, i left the at&t store even more confused. i think i’ll go with the pro though because it was thicker than our 8 and the screen still felt big because it goes to the edge now instead of having the border
I have the 8 Plus. The 8 Plus has a 5.5” screen. The 13 & 13 Pro have a 6.1” screen so I think it’s the perfect upgrade. The 13 Pro Max seems like it would be too big to fit in my pocket every day. But it seems the biggest difference between the Pro & Pro Max is the Pro Max has a bigger screen & better battery life.
@@codylutes9655 I agree. I also have an 8 plus. After viewing the different 13 models in store, the 13 pro max is gigantic compared to the 8 plus. The 13’s & 13 pro’s screens have the same, if not more, total area as the 8 plus.
The difference in width would be hard to get used to again, however over the past 3-4 years I have found myself thinking sometimes that my 8 plus is too wide to use if I only have a single free hand. So if I were to upgrade I’d probably go with either the 13 or 13 pro

Replacing the iPhone 11 with the iPhone 13 mini as concerned it won’t be available next year. The iPhone 11 is a great phone but we always wanted the smaller phone just wasn’t available at the time we needed to replace our iPhone. Didn’t like the SE to dated. Plus with the trade in of your old phone doesn’t feel so expensive. Hopefully the battery improvements over the 12 we mean be ok. When I compare the battery details of the 11 with the 13 mini they close enough.

planning to upgrade from a samsung to one of these phones very soon, thinking of purchasing the mini or the regular since i'm not really looking for a huge screen but one that is practical and has decent camera quality as well as storage :)
Id suggest the 13 pro.
The screen being 120 htz smoothness is such a nice touch, if you can, go into a store and seethe difference for yourself before making the choice just to be sure!

I've had the same android phone since 2015, so this year I'll be buying the iphone 13 mini, this will probably be my last chance to buy a phone under 6 inches in these current times where every phone is HUGE in size. It might not be the best, but for me it's perfect.

The only real reason for me to upgrade would be the 120Hz Displays on the Pro Models... Other than that, no need to upgrade.. Still a Notch, Still no Finger Print Sensor, no always-on-display, and still no USB-C on iPhones, which will most likely become mandatory in the EU rather sooner than later... (and the new ipad minis have it!!)

But if you start thinking this route, why buy a iPhone? In this case one should buy a device for 300.- dollars because it can almost do the very same.

I guess most people will assess if they go for a new iphone or spend the money otherwise eg. on a weekend trip etc... and if something works well (like IP11) and the newer model (like IP13) does not offer a reasonable advantage, why blow that money out. it could be better spent otherwise. but of course this is highly individual :)

I am currently using an iPhone 7 Plus. (I take very good care of what I do not insure.) In need of an upgrade but I don’t really need all the bells and whistles. I just want better battery life and less lagging. I debated on just getting a 12 but with every line up that comes out the older phones work less and less.
I'd like the 13 pro max for being the one with the best battery life and I don't mind a bigger screen for sacrificing a bit of usability but the sheer W E I G H T of this one is making me second guess - my Xs Max is already heavy enough.

Same!!! Have the exact same dilemma! Xs Max has caused me so much wrist strain, sure to get carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis with continued usage. Deep down I have contempt for it because it’s so bulky and heavy I don’t even take selfies because my arms shake. The screen size is not enough of a pay off for the brick weight. But yea, still deciding between the Pro Max because of screen size and battery life to watch several lecture videos back-to-back, and taking good video screen shot notes. But at the same time, it’s SO heavy, and 30-40g heavier than the XS MAX, which will prob be too heavy to lift and watch at eye level for long periods of time. Because the XS MAX itself is just too painful to lift and watch videos. Leaning towards getting the Pro which is smaller but more ergonomic, smaller screen, BUT essentially about the same weight as the Xs Max.

I, myself came from a XS Max, and preorder the regular 13 Pro at first, then I said.. nah I miss the big screen, so i went to my carrier store the next day and got the 13 Pro Max... and BOY was it heavy. (I have carpel tunnel so for me it WAS a pain to carry and hold). Ended up returning it and stuck with the regular 13 Pro. Sometimes I do miss the bigger screen, but I know it's for the best!

And I’m glad I made the right decision because even though it’s pretty much the same weight as the XS Max it feels much lighter because of the smaller size it’s more compact. And to be honest I don’t even realize the smaller screen size difference. The convenience of being able to slip it in jacket pockets, jean pockets and small clutches/handbags, or just hand holding it feels so much more convenient and lighter. I def rec the 13 Pro over the 13 Pro max if you have smaller hands or are a woman, and suffer from wrist/hand strain from the XS Max.

i just upgraded from the 6s a couple weeks ago to the 13 mini, works for me and battery life is so much better, i’m able to make it though the day without charging while my 6s even after replacing the battery i had to charge prob 1.5x to make it through

I'm recommending the iPhone 13 Pro to my dad. He loves nature & photography. Great lenses both macro & zoom. 120Hz will feel like a breeze, I can't live without on my S20. 5core processor & 2gb more ram are bonus, since he won't game. But yea, the camera & screen will already make the difference!

Just did my first major phone upgrade in 5+ years, and even a bigger upgrade of going from Android to Apple (Samsung S7 to 13 Pro). I am going on Iphone 13 pro after 12 years on strict android user.
Reason is better software optimization in iOS and using s21+ 120hz but I checked ipad pro 120hz and it was dope.
Last reason is I used samsung for so long but now software updates and other things, Samsung is inconsistent while delivering software updates. In case of Apple they don't make much more gimmick rumors.
Once bitten, twice shy, and I no longer trust Samsung to get things right!!!!
What is your opinion about the iphone 13 pro's overheating and screen dimming issues. Some people are saying that the issues can be avoided by adjusting certain settings on the phone like turning off optimized battery and backround app refresh, and turning screen brightness down to 80% or less. Others are saying that while adjusting settings might make it take longer for the phone to overheat it will always overheat after enough time because the overheating is caused by a serious design flaw in the hardware of the phone in that apple did not engineer enough cooling into the 13 pro so it will always overheat. I am specifically looking at the 13 pro so if you can offer any feedback as to what causes the overheating issue and whether or not you can truly stop a 13 pro from overheating or it is really a design flaw with the phone would be appreciated. Thank you.

My iPhone 7 Plus is 60Hz and it isn’t all laggy like you showed the 13 being while swiping through the Home Screen. Also I’ve been to many stores lately looking at phones because I need to upgrade and the base model 13 is not at all slow and choppy like you’re showing it to be. I’m sure it probably makes a difference in gaming, but for just basic navigation of the phone (swiping left and right on the Home Screen) most people won’t notice the difference. Very deceptive. Anyone doubting this just go to a store and try swiping left and right on the Home Screen. You’ll see it’s smooth as can be.
I have the 12 Pro Max and I’m getting the 13 Pro Max! The size is great. I tend to edit photos a lot and having the bigger screen and bigger battery life is definitely what keeps me on the Pro Max line up.

There are nights where I don't even put my phone to charge over night and get about two days use. You will love it, especially coming from the XS Max!

I got a 13 Mini. To me large phones don’t even feel like phones… they feel more like miniature tablets then actual cell phones. The 13 mini feels like the right size now

I had to pause the video once the telephoto was mentioned. Everyone seems so over the moon that the camera is now 3x and blow the meaning out of proportions, while the truth is, the telephoto lens as a sidegrade at best.
I do not like when people say “upgraded” to 3x as it means the photos or the camera are somehow better. Like “the more X, the better photos”. No. If it was a variable zoom lens, than sure, but prime 3x is not better than prime 2x of the same quality.
Yes, it is better (more useful) for some shots, while it completely destroys shots that you would take on 2x or 2.5x before (because you need to crop in from 1x lens to get these). And the price for that is a worse aperture in f/2.8, by far the most narrow aperture in mobile cameras as far as I know.

Ordered the 13 pro 128g then quickly changed it to the 256g after this video! I know that even the 256 will fill up fast with Prores @ 30fps in 4k and I wont utilize it all of the time because of this, but to miss out on the 4k I'd much rather jump up a memory size! Thanks!
i had the 128g iPhone 11. My Apple Music collection getting insane. To DL all the songs i need 145ish g (at lossless). Tried the streaming routine but that chewed up my 8g / month data real fast. Other than regular phone stuff - i do not game. Do that on a Windows machine. So i went with the regular 13 with 512g storage. Hopefully that will hold me for a bit. With apps/music/pictures i sit at around 164g. Would have loved to get the 13 pro 1T but prices in Canada are nuts, would have been almost $2100 plus tax. The 13 - 512g was about tops budget wise. Was 1500 plus tax.
Just got upgraded from Samsung S20 to iPhone 13 256gb the regular one and it kinda surprised me especially the battery life but then I realized I came from a 120Hz system to this one :D I got this one since I wanted kinda a bit smaller phone, I liked the shape and the form too and the specs are better from the previous iPhone.. anyways I'm still getting used to this after using Android for my entire life but it's all good so far ^^ also my local store has this in sale for $1k+ bundled with a charger brick which is considerably already basic and cheap in my region ;; the pro and pro max ones are around $600-$1k more with same storage. Perfect for casual daily use with basic functions ^^

My only concern is mistake no. 5. From 4K downgraded to 1080p for 128gb if using ProRes. That’s a bummer but I’m taking on the pro models from my mini & I missed using using telephoto lenses since iPhone 7plus. (I only started upgrading since XR. Never owned a pro models before)

Just bought new iPhone 13, can't wait for this year iPhone 14 (2022). I choose regular 13 to purchase its bec. good for value both money and specs. Their are so many specs/feat. that I realize I don't need that Pro/Max models have. Also ... I'm not into so much photo takings both outside or selfies ... I'm pretty much ok with regular 13. Save more money and just take good care of it you can have it for 4-5 years ...

That's actually just video playback, which usually just refreshes at 30Hz, which is an advantage for the Pro. In. In normal use cases where 120Hz is used more frequently, the 13 will last longer.

This one is tricky. Due to the ProMotion display, 13 pro will have a better battery life when watching normal videos offline because those videos should be 24 FPS and the screen should be at 24 Hz. But for gaming at 120 FPS, the 13 pro will drain more power because of higher refresh rate. So the 13 pro will have very different battery life for different use case.

I've been using my iPhone 8 plus since it was released and it still works pretty well.
Battery life and storage are the most important elements that I consider when purchasing a new iPhone. The camera is my next consideration. I currently have an 11 Pro Max with 256 Gigs of storage with over 200 Gigs of podcasts, one of my passions. 1T is a must for my next iPhone.

I upgraded from the 11 to the 13 pro. I'm a phone photography kind of person so it was a worthwhile upgrade! I have a Magsafe case you future proof, but I don't anticipate having any Magsafe accessories in any near future.

I have an iPad Pro but also an iPhone 8 Plus. I definitely appreciate 120hz but I don’t care for battery life since I’ve been used to taking my charger with me at all times. Camera quality is also appreciated and high performance is better too
Actually, according to a head to head real world test between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro by a reviewer on RUclips and featured on 9to5Mac, the ProMotion display was found to be more power efficient and had a slightly longer battery life then the standard 13.
f stops are about the amount of light that enters through the aperture. Nothing to do with “speed” the lower the f number, the wider the aperture to allow more light In, making it better in low light environments
"speed" in this context means "shutter speed" so with wider aperture you'd use shorter exposure time - the shutter being faster.

I thought in the Buyer’s Guide for the Pro you would mention the difference between 128gb and 256gb+ and available features. If best video feature is a goal, the it is likely worth the extra expense for the 256gb.

You don’t need to warn people about the iPhone 13 mini battery life. People that bought the 12 mini and will be buying the 13 mini understand that it’s a PHONE. Used to make calls, text people, emails, some pictures and low intensity stuff. People aren’t buying the mini to replace their xboxes or computer desktop gaming setups or their DSLR cameras. The people that love the mini understand that at the end of the day, it’s just a phone and does not need to be the size of a mini iPad.

I just got a 13 pro switching over from a galaxy s10 and they’re about the same size the pro felt like the middle ground between all the models after I looked through all of them in the store, it has all the latest tech just a smaller package, and the battery life is still amazing.
