- On November 25th, 2012, the Three Rivers Rambler kicked off the holiday season by bringing out steam locomotive No. 203 for a weekend of Christmas-themed excursions out of Knoxville, TN. The day starts with a good scrubbing and washing of the 1925-vintage Consolidation, and carries on with the two runs up the old Southern Railway branch line, with the former Washington and Lincolnton 2-8-0 pulling the train east to Marbledale, and the ex-Louisville and Nashville GP9 leading the train west to Knoxville. The sun is shining, there's that gentle but annoying cold breeze in the air, and the train is running thru some of Tennessee's beautiful countryside. It's a perfect day for train chasing.
Great subject. Wonderful show.
Great video man! I'm headed up there on Friday to see their Christmas Trains with one of there steamers. Great video!
The Washington and Lincolnton Railroad Company was incorporated in 1914, and its 20-mile line between those two towns was completed in 1918. It was financed by the Georgia Railroad which connected with the W&L at Washington. The line was abandoned in 1932.
203 has been passed from railroad to railroad.
