I was born in 1947 and watched this show as a youngster.What a special time,what a special show.Thanks.
“Back to the Future 3” brought me here.
MTN Productions GREAT SCOTT!!!
Me too
Samsies
That was in the first scene, was in that movie.
Indiana Jones brought me here
Funny how clowns and those wooden ventriloquist puppets are more likely to be seen in horror films than kids' shows nowadays.
just to think I was 3-year old I was 5years old when I see Howdy Doody Show in 1949 I am now 75 wish that had show Like this today
Robert..76 here in Texas and this show was everything to us in the early 1950's...do you also remember the other screamer, Andy's Gang with "Froggie the Gremlin" Midnight and Squeaky"?
@@Rebel_Railroad_Productions and is that bad? Stop being so ungrateful for what you have, this show looks like rain water compared to anything else.
We had a Sony TV (From 2005 which had pretty nice quality) and a PS2 (which had some fun games like prince of Persia) In 2015 since our family weren’t that rich at all. My Childhood TV shows were pretty much all the 2010s tv shows. The channel that i used to watch these cartoons on was Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. My most favorite show was DEFINITELY Tom and Jerry. and since we had only 1 TV, I had to watch dramas and comedy dramas with my parents basically every night. Some of them were intense and others were funny. I liked them. But in July 2017 we moved to The US. Which meant that we couldn’t take our Big box tv and the PS2 with us. So Now, We have a Smart TV and a Ps4 and they didn’t have Cartoon network or Nickelodeon or the drama shows on them, so I couldn’t watch any of those shows i mentioned. So, now you know about the life of a young kid born in a (kinda) poor family. Idk why i just told you my entire childhood story (i guess i got out of context). Also, i’m 12 years old.
Good Day to you.
@@Rebel_Railroad_Productions I find it odd that of all the children's programming that was available in the late 80s all the way into the 90's you chose those two to reference and one of the shows wasn't even for children. Lol
Im 33 and I know what Howdy Doody Time is. Wonder if kids under 20 still know what it is. The world has changed so much recently and even more insanely so in your lifetime. Now kids just watch pointless inane tiktok videos.
For a show that's 70 years old, the sound and image quality is excellent!
Even though I was born in 1948, I still remember watching this show in the 1950s after we got a Magnavox TV around 1954
Howdy Doody Time??
It is Sunday, November 13th, 1955 7:01 AM. Last night's time
travel experiment was apparently a complete success. Lightning struck
the clock tower at precisely 10:04 pm sending the necessary 1.21
gigowatts into the time vehicle, which vanished in a brilliant flash of
light leaving a pair of fire trails behind. I therefore assumed that
Marty and the time vehicle were transported forward through time into
the year 1985. After that...after that...I can't recall what happened.
I don't even remember how I got home! Perhaps the jigowatt discharge
coupled with the temporal displacement field generated by the time
vehicle caused a disruption of my own brain waves resulting in a
condition of temporary amnesia. Indeed I now recall the moments after
the time vehicle disappeared ... into the future ... I saw a vision of
Marty saying, "I've come back from the future." Marty gets out of his
chair, with Doc facing his back to him, and starts walking towards Doc.
Undoubtedly this was some sort of -
???
@@ivanthevaluable2559 Have you never seen Back to the Future part 3 when Doc Brown wakes up back at his mansion without having any memory of how he got there and him talking into his tape recorder describing the events after he had sent Marty back to the year 1985. Lol
I'm japanese. I know this movie.
I love biff tannen
Best anime of the 1940s.
yesh~~
Man O Man ... I want to go back this year and die in 1988... I was born in 1960. But these were better days . A REAL post office ... a real school... no computers ... people smoked ... life was so real. And better . You used a pay phone .. used a REAL PHONE... used a type writer... got a REAL NEWSPAPER thick as a pice of log. Not like now
Only rich people owned television sets in 1947.
That's a FACT !
Chris Nilsson my grandpa used to watch this when he was six in the 1950’s and he was singing the theme song to me.
That's true as case in point the Three Stooges short "A Plumbing We Will Go" when the water shots out of the tv and splashes on the girl just standing there, LOL!
@@Freebleepers
Oh really?
Just as Blythe Baxter (in one of the Littlest Pet Shop fanfictions) turns on the TV (just before The Three Stooges sabotage her plumbing), she gets wet from the orange soda that shots out of the screen, saying "OH MY FANTA! I'LL GET THOSE DUMBASS STOOGES!"
I resemble this.
indiana jones 4!
Sesame Street, Barney, Blues Clues and Mr Rogers would not have existed without Howdy Doody
that clown is nightmare fuel
That Clown later became Captain Kangaroo ! Bob Keeshin.
neverthesame the whole thing is lmao
So this is how Toy Story's woody look like
This show debuted 7 years before I was born and ended when I was almost 6, and I never watched a single episode.
+senorkaboom
I can say the same thing about my age when the show debuted and ended...but I did see Howdy Doody regularly during it's final year. I had just entered grade 1 when the Howdy Doody show ended.
+Richard Ranke
I was just in kindergarten at this shows finale. I was a fan, as was my dad, of the Shari Lewis program that replaced it.
I sure liked Shari,Lamb Chop and the rest too. I remember many of their shows.
And now you are on youtube, crazy.
My teacher born in 58 told is him and the neighborhood kids would sit outside the window of the one person in tge neighborhood who had a tv and watch reruns.

It's interesting how they had a few older kids in the Peanut Gallery at the beginning... It makes me wonder if they had been among the kids who were in the original radio shows, older siblings of the younger kids, or just there to help out in case things got a little rowdy.... That blonde girl up front is a trooper! I would love it if people could come forward and help identify some of these kids!
Howdy Doody Time? Great Scott
OMG - I love this ... 1947 - the very 1st year of Howdy Doody!!!
This may be the earliest Howdy Doody in existence, and it's still before Bob Smith became "Buffalo Bob."
It’s funny how we still use the phrase “Peanut Gallery” 80 years later.
Great Scott!
ohhh my childhood. good old times
Sounds like woody’s roundup
Creepiest Kids show Clown EVER !

"Clara Bell" seems to have some sexual dysmorphic ideation, as well. O.o

Howdy Doody time ! Great Scott !
This scares the hell out of me and my friend sydney
It's HOWDY DO0DY TIME😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
My grandpa used to tell me about this show, they’d all wait around the tv for this
Howdy Doody is CCCCRRRRRREEEEEPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Is this really the first ever broadcast Howdy Doody Time? If so this is fascinating. Wonder if a better quality version exists. Not sure if the film reel would still exist.
technically no this is not the first television broadcast back in the early 30's late 20's they were playing with mechanical televisions BUT it seems to be the most memorable for sure.
yes.
it is.
gravedigr is wrong
Yes, they had some form of Television in the late 1920s. IT WAS SCARCE AS CHICKEN LIPS. Television's first drama, "The Queen's Messenger,"was broadcast from Schenectady, New York by station WGY, on September 11, 1928.
+++++++++++
The War of the Worlds was performed and broadcast live at 8 pm ET on October 30, 1938 over the CBS RADIO Network.
++++++++++++++
NBC and CBS began commercial TV operations in 1941, followed by ABC in 1948. In 1950, only 9% of American households had the wonder of TV.
Thanks Doc Emmit Brown. You are some crack pot 🤣
These girls and boys in 1948 were mostly from the end of the Silent generation!
Anybody else watching this on the show's 75th anniversary?
I'm trip'n...I came here cuz I swore I heard a cat meowing to this song in the Back to the future 3 movie version...listen to it carefully 🤣
comments found here; Indiana Jones 4, back to the Future 3, my grandparents watched this
Actually, the creepiest kid show was Pinky Lee.
Not many get to see a guy die on TV, I remember it well. Didn't actually die, but did go down.
Great Scott ❤️
my gran was in some episode of this, she just forgot which episode so im going to watch all of them
It’s a shame there’s no film of the original Howdy Doody puppet used in the earliest episodes-it looked vastly different.
The origins of the theme song of "It's Itsy Bitsy Time"
Hey, it's Jimmy Carter! LOL.
Puppet Playhouse in 1947 which became The Hoody Doody Show.
I was once on this show, not in this episode. Received a marionette and a cap with a red brim
HUH?! howdy doody time?! GREAT SCOT!
Happy Days brought me to this.
Great Scott!!
I try to imagine this being the only option at the time (ech!)
the way looking up what cowabunga meant led me here
My EARS! They've gone blind!!!
This was priceless !!!! John..
"Origination of howdy" got me here
This scares me to death
GREAT SCOTT!
I come here from back to the future III
This is a trip. I Uncle Milty was the first television series in '48. I wonder how many televisions there were in '47?
Not many! However there’s a RUclips clip with quite a bit of 1947 stuff. Do a search like so:
youtube “hubert chain”
This is awesome
This looks like the opening scene of a Rob Zombie movie
"Excuse me I need to use you- *sees mannequins* oh no..."
I would have loved to see Howdy Doody on PBS Kids in the 1990s as a revived show and if that happens I would have sat in the Peanut Gallery boy I wish I grew up in the mid to late 1950s I was born in 1990 but I knew about this show
0:26 That’s the sample that Coldcut was used in “Say Kids What Time Is It?”.
This would not fly today.
I remember being upset cause it wasn't on tv anymore lol
Hello Christy, How are you doing?
I love how the camera shakes when I they want the kids at home to agree with them
Bttf reminded me of this
Indiana Jones!!!
This is creepy. No wonder kids are odd these days
I bet this will creep more people out today than would entertain them.
They should put howdy doody show on Netflix
I loved this show as a kid and I'm only in my 20's.
I gave my friend a dime
to see his mother climb
a giant forest pine
in almost record time
she couldn't get back down
she jumped and hit the ground
we thought she broke her crown
she didn't make a sound
we thought that she was dead
until she moved her head
we put her in a bed
and called our doctor Ted
he said that she was fine
but it's not right to climb
a giant forest pine
for just a lousy dime!
1976 by me
age 12
No sound! Just from what I remember, in my mind.
Creepypasta version:
It’s Howdy Doody time
It’s Howdy Doody time
Time to fill your days with screams
And to haunt all your nighttime dreams
It’s Howdy Doody time
It’s Howdy Doody time
Give a cry of fear
‘Cause Howdy Doody’s here
It’s time to start the show
So kids let’s go
who else wached the re-runs in the late 70s and 80s ? lol
I we learning this in my history subject in school
This isn't from 1947. The Howdy we see here is the "new look" Howdy! He looked different in 1947.
This had to be from mid-1948 at the earliest. 1947 was just when the show began, but I doubt anyone has anything from that ear;y.
Yes, your absolutely right. In 1947 Howdy looked totally different. He got a make over sometime in 1948. This is probably from 1948 after his makeover. They have the original lined back drop. So it’s before 1949 when they started the big black circled back drop . The circles were probably different colours , but in black and white television they appeared black. Really a stupid choice unless it was filmed in colour .
I know that some episode of this appeared on Back in Future Part III
They should do a black version called "Howdy Booty"!
They Should Do A Stop Racists Version Called "Beat It, Racist"!
A much simpler time
Kids in 1947 were tone deaf.
Well shit. My grandmother used to watch this growing up. Miss her. Gonna go ahead and go cry now. Fuck my life. I was such a shitty grandson.
"oh that can't be good"
Bruh my grandpa either was months old or not even born yet
It’s sad that there was not ONE black child in that audience. Racial discrimination at its finest.
God! Will you give it a rest? I'm so sick of hearing about racial discrimination. Read a book by Dr. Thomas Sowell.
The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
To think that many, if not all, of these kids are grandparents today
many are dead
im colombian, im here for the situation of stone wall.
My gram watched this as a little girl~ last time i saw le intro to this was... 7 years ago?
Actally, there was only one show of Howdy Doody in 1947-so this show must have been from early 1949-considering that Mr.Smith hadn't been named Buffalo Bob yet.
Richard Ranke There's a copy of this entire episode on RUclips that says the date of the show was 07/02/48.
I've been trying to find the Clarabell the Clown song can't find it anywhere, I only remember 'Who's the fairest clown around?? CLARABELL!!!! Brother and I used to sing it at the top of our lungs and now I've forgotten most of it, anyone remember it?
FUNNIEST clown you know.
- why some booomers ended up so goofy.
This is what I picture Hell is like.
From the very first broadcast, they were already poisoning children with sorcery.
At least playing board games (in the 80s) was way more better than this crap
