  • A better copy of my newest upload with the commercials removed. Here is a program from the popular A&E docu-series featuring original interviews with Buffalo Bob Smith and the cast and crew of Howdy Doody. This program was taped on May 29, 1995. From 1947 to 1960, Howdy Doody captivated the hearts of millions of children throughout the country and is fondly remembered as one of the shows that shaped television history forever. I'm only sharing because I'm a huge fan of Howdy Doody and other classic television programs, which is what this
channel is all about. This is not my original content, credit belongs to A&E Networks
(Hearst Communications/The Walt Disney Company). If I need to remove the video, I will, but I sincerely hope you guys enjoy. Let me know what you think, but please don’t ask for requests

My dad worked for a company in the RCA Building where Howdy Doody was shot, and for 6 months he went to the basement NBC ticket office, and finally in August 1960 he was able to get one lone ticket for 5 year old me to sit in the Peanut Gallery, what a thrill, and Dad was my hero from that day until the end of his life 😊

Howdy refused to sign his new contract because there were too many strings attached.

I have a picture of me showing Howdy on TV. His picture on top of a jelly jar. I guess it was a Welches jelly jar. Those were the days.‼️

Howdy was a huge part of my childhood . There are products that I still use because they were sponsors. Kids today have no idea.

I grew up watching that show. I always envied my couain who was in the Peanut Gallery for one show and said that they handed out candy to the kids. He told me that the only time he ever appeared on National TV was when the camera panned across the Gallery and caught him with a mouth full of Snickers Bar.

Sesame Street would not have existed without Howdy Doody.
Mr Rogers Neighborhood would not have existed without Howdy Doody.
Blues Clues would not have existed without Howdy Doody.

Richard Hunt's mom said his son was in The Peanut Gallery when he was 5 or 6 and he did a magic trick right before the camera faded to black.

28:48, 38:32 Heh... why am I surprised, OF COURSE Burt Dubrow would have aided in this, he LOVED Howdy Doody - and even has props and (Many of? Most of?) the puppets from the show! (His youngest daughter was in my grade growing up (though they moved away just around middle school), and I've seen them whenever I was over to hang out, or our families got together, it's really neat how he had them displayed.)

@@jeremycunninghamtheoldsoul8686 Granted a lot of the time I was away from the adults whilst we (me, their kids, and my older brother ... I think he came some times) went off to do our own things, but the times I saw him, AND and we were all actually together conversing and the like, he struck me as a kind, .fun, easy going, genuine, and generous person.

I just saw the Barney documentary on Peacock and I used to watch Barney and I saw all of those people who hated Barney but if you watched the Documentary at the end of the documentary they say who was your Barney nobody said Howdy Doody but I bet and I bet people used to do lots of bad things and say bad things about Howdy Doody so I bet if those jihadis and Jerry Springer and Bill Nye I bet they used to like Howdy Doody and that was there Barney growing up

Did anyone post that the newspaper syndicate named the comic strip "Peanuts" after the kids in Howdy' Doody's peanut gallery, and that Charles Schlutz hated the name because no character in his strip was named Peanuts?

I would like to see too but I doubt RUclips will put it up because of the #metoo movement and I wasn’t born in the 1950s I was born in the 1990s but I wish I was born in the 1950s good music and TV Shows and Movies no internet just The Cold War but I used to watch Barney & Friends and if that show ever reboots I think they need to change the Lyrics with Kiss from me to you because that can’t be used in this day just like Chief Thunder Thud because is a slur to Modern Day Native Americans I wasn’t born when Howdy Doody was on but to this day I wonder why Howdy Doody Reboot in the 1990s to people like me

I must have deleted my earlier reply by mistake, not sure what happened. These are only lucky guesses, but I wouldn’t be surprised if shows like Barney & Friends or Sesame Street took some inspiration from Howdy Doody. This is a wonderful documentary but my only criticism is that they could have mentioned the shows that came later. There is mention of the Howdy Doody Show being in competition with The Mickey Mouse Club when it first aired in 1955.
