The fact that Disney animators went from this cute but not particularly visually splendid short, to Snow White, in only 15 years, is absolutely incredible.
This film is a century old now. Amazing that Walt Disney started 100 years with animation. And a century later, the Disney Studio is the largest animation studio in the world. Incredible!
The Cinderella in this is actually the same girl from the previous short, Puss in Boots, and she also plays a princess in that! So she technically was the first two princesses lol
Hunting was a popular pasttime activity of the rich and elite at the time. Some even had their own hunting lodges in the countryside where they would spend their summer break.
Yeah I am aware, but that’s not what I meant. This specific adaptation is also by Disney, so I joked that the other more famous adaptation by Disney was a remake of this one.
I just realize something, this was Julius the cat Second appearance in a cartoon, and he’s a boy, and he gets a love interest that’s a dog, Who is also a boy, GAY RIGHTS YALL🏳️🌈
@@jonathanlife5304 In Puss In Boots, either Julius The Cat is meant to be female, or he's interested in getting boots and a dress and all to woo the male cat. Would be pretty cool if Walt snuck a gay cat into his earliest shorts, but pretty sure there's either something we're not getting here, or Julius' gender simply hadn't been worked out yet.

@@1and314 Cinderella is a very old folk story so there was no copyright or person to pay. It actually dates back to a Chinese story, then translated to French and then the translation into English which is actually the point at which the slipper becomes glass because it was a mis-translation from the French which said it was a fur slipper, not a glass one. As far as most of the Disney princess stories go, they were either just stories written down e.g. by the Brothers Grimm who held no claim to creating them, merely put them onto paper for the first time which was so long ago there's noone left alive to pay, or were newer (like Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid which was his own creation not based on an earlier story) which was out of copyright by the time it was made into a film.
@@AlexaFaie the oldest cinderella story is Rhodopis not Ye Xian. And no its not a translation, Perrault was probably inspired by one of Cinderella variant folktales that he heard and decide to make a story with similar formula with added new element such as glass slipper, pumpkin carriage, and fairy godmother. The glass slipper is probably a mistranslation from fur slipper correct but not because he mistraslated a chinese version. And its not him who mistranslated it but the older translator who tried to translate his tale into another language (apparently the word fur and glass in french is similar). But even that fact is disputed. If he actually directly translate Ye Xian to french, he wont change his name, he will keep the slipper gold, and the magical goldfish. Just because its older than perrault version does not mean it is the source of all Cinderella tales after that. The brother grimm version for example was inspired more by Cupid and Psyche from Roman mythology. The chinese version is also probably inspired from much older folktale from another country.
@@AlexaFaie Many of the cartoons and movies made by Walt Disney were based on pre-existing sources, especially those from the public domain. If you don't therefore see the hypocrisy of The Walt Disney Company lobbying Congress to extend copyrights by decades, I don't know what to say.

This would have been well before there was a Disney Studio. Walt was working for others. Note his name is not on the credits.

Would this(technically) make Cinderella the real first Disney Princess?
Snow White: I'm the first Disney Princess!
Laugh-O-Gram Cinderella: Hold my shoe!

The Chinese one is adapted from ancient Egyptian.
Snow White too… Betty Boop starred in a version in 1933

If you watch the Puss in Boots cartoon, appears the same dog given the named James, confirming he is male.

It wouldn't say Laugh O Grams. The studio filed for bankruptcy in 1922. Disney was founded in 1923.
